  1. You should be able to answer that yourself. The state is anti-gun. Most things here are more difficult than they are in most states. This can be seen by the variability of time frames seen city to city. But, I'm also sure that every other state is seeing some sort of delay because of Covid and the increase in the number checks being run.
  2. My check came back today . . . So, if I assume that NJSP wasn't working 12/31 or 1/1, that's basically three working days. I should add . . . This gun was ordered online December 11 and shipped USPS Priority Mail on December 14. My FFL didn't receive it until December 28 and USPS tracking couldn't tell me where it was after the 18th. I'll be picking it up this afternoon which means that the whole sale took five days short of a month.
  3. Yeah? Where are you going to move? Have you seen what's happened to Colorado? Texas and Arizona are moving left. Florida? Wherever you go, you're going to continue fighting an uphill battle. Don't like 10 round magazines? That's on the national slate now. Don't like having your stocks pinned? Same. Don't like how long it takes to get a pistol permit? Wait until the feds get involved. Think the Second Amendment is under attack? They all are. Everywhere. So, when you move and find the same thing, what you are prepared to do about it? I know how politics work in NJ. I was born here and had family DEEP:Y involved in Democrat politics over 40 years ago. While we've had a few Republican governors, we haven't elected a Republican to the Senate in almost 50 years. So . . . move . . .
  4. I don’t know anybody. I just moved to this town and they processed my change of address just as quickly. Sorry . . .
  5. It is the job of law enforcement to enforce the laws passed by the legislature. It is up to the legislature to pass those laws. It up to us to put the members of the legislature in place. "We the people . . . : works in both directions.
  6. I applied for three at the end of August or beginning of September and executed the first permit on September 19th. So, I had mine in about two weeks.
  7. . . . Yes . . . Keep a careful eye on your dog . . .
  8. I picked an arbitrary number . . . It doesn't make any difference if the cost is $5 or $500,000 . . . It can be handled as long as it's built into the price.
  9. Yeah . . . This is a bit much on a few counts . . . The suit is to be heard in federal court, not state court. That may not help him much but it has nothing to do with the Democrat's control of NJ. What the hell makes you think that he supported, or that anyone here supported, red flag laws? LEO's have rights beyond those of other citizens under state law. I can't tell you all of them but they include higher mag restrictions and otherwise restricted ammo. At least some of these extend to retired officers. Should have moved to a "free" state? Go to hell. There are many here and elsewhere in NJ that would muck rather FIGHT than leave the state. If you move your ass anywhere else you are only delaying the clampdown. It needs to be resisted. That being said . . .
  10. I sent a PM with some contact information that might help you out with some answers. Keep in mind that the owner wants to sell because he already knows that the tanks need to be replaced and he doesn't want to spend $35,000 on the project. You can do that but you need to build it into the price.
  11. Is it a branded station? If so you should get a lot of help from them. The number of people you need depends on the number of pumps. My mechanic covers 16 or 17 hours a day with two full time (many hours!) and a few part times pump operators. It’s likely that his two would stay on. I don’t know how it’s done but you need to have the tanks checked. It takes months and tens of thousands of dollars to replace them.
  12. I think that it varies hour to hour. Holidays, the different number of requests each day, whatever.
  13. I had a check on Saturday, December 19 that came back by noon on Monday, December 21. I initiated another on January 31 that hasn't come back. Of course that includes a limited workday, a holiday and a weekend.
  14. There's somebody to build a movement around . . .
  15. Surprisingly . . . You can get your non-dominant eye to see through pretty much any set of sights. It takes some practice but can be done even without a weapon and sights. I'm left/left naturally. Due to some temporary problems with my left eye, I was forced to learn to be right eye dominant. I'm a photographer and NEEDED to make this change but it was pretty easy. Now that I've gone back to shooting, I've actually switched to shooting right handed. That was pretty easy with a handgun but it's been a little slow with rifles.
  16. I don't know how much I can help. My personal experience is related to my uncle owning a station many years ago. But, I'm pretty friendly with my current mechanic and we talk a lot.
  17. I haven't looked closely at any that NJ groups are currently doing. But, I suspect that they shy away from the permitting process (and carry) because the local PDs are involved in those processes. It doesn't matter what the state wide law is if your local PD can screw you over. These days, there is less and less reason for them to be part of the process. Applications are on line, payment can be on line and pick up could be on line (along with the idea of e-permits. It's not like it's 1952 where the local police know everybody in town and can say, "Well . . . I'm not issuing any purchase permits to Chris Smith. I we do, he'll be out Kelly Wilson's house shooting at her latest boyfriend." No . . . I don't know any Chris Smith or Kelly Wilson . . . The example isn't from personal experience . . .
  18. You may be right but there are other states that require a DL of other photo id. They are still just trying to make sure their asses are covered. A seller that asks for a DL might have their own state requirements that they are responsible for.
  19. These documents are required to purchase hand gun ammo in NJ. The dealers that are requiring that are making an attempt a following NJ law.
  20. Keep in mind . . . Most gun laws (most laws?) are not about containing criminal activity. They are about controlling the part of the population that can be controlled . . . The law abiding citizens.
  21. It doesn't matter if they are e-permits or printed permits . . . . Yes, printed permits get "printed" while e-permits get "approved" or "made available" depending on the terminology you want to use. The point that I made remains valid. The local PD may delay notifying NJSP after you pay causing the same wait that you are discussing.
  22. The variability of times points AWAY from NJSP and AT the local PDs. For example . . . Just because your local PD notified you to come in and pay for the permits doesn't mean that they didn't sit on that payment for two weeks before entering it into the system so that SP could OK printing . . .
  23. Yep . . . They are following the law. FFLd are required to maintain those records as long as they are in business. When they shut the doors they turn them over to the government. It makes no difference in reality. As ling as a Walmart had the records they were required to make them available to the AAF with no notice.
  24. Actually . . . It talks about more than possession. It discusses uses as well. It attaches conditions to possession. Here's the thing and then I'm out . . . I already said, I'm not getting into an argument. If someone follows the advice that I was given and doesn't use hollow points for self defense, is any damage done? And . . . Hollow points are merely more efficiently deadly projectiles . . .
  25. https://www.njsp.org/firearms/transport-hollowpoint.shtml "Thus a person may purchase this ammunition and keep it within the confines of his property. Sub section f (1) further exempts from the prohibited possession of hollow nose ammunition "persons engaged in activities pursuant to N.J.S.A 2C:39-6f. . . ." N.J.S.A 26:39-3f." "Activities contained in N.J.S.A 26:39-6f. can be broken down as follows: A member of a rifle or pistol club organized under rules of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and which filed its charter with the State Police; A person engaged in hunting or target practice with a firearm legal for hunting in this State; A person going directly to a target range, and; A person going directly to an authorized place for "practice, match, target, trap or skeet shooting exhibitions." I've argued elsewhere that hollow points are not legal for home defense. Others were rather heated on the point that "if you are allowed to posses them, you are allowed to use them." I would differ since 26:39-6f lists for match, range and hunting. I'm not getting into an argument, again . . . This is how it was explained by an intructor and I have plenty of Hornady for my 9mm and .38Spcl. If I have to drag the AR-15 into the mix, all bets are off anyway.
