  1. Colt started making revolvers in Patterson in the 1830's if you wanted a NJ made firearm. There have also been many an invention from the Picatinney Arsenal. If not, an M16.
  2. There are I believe a few reasons: 1. there is/was quite a bit of hording/stocking up since the Democratic primary and definately the election. 2. The election caused an influx of new shooters who bought a new firearm and ammo. 3. it would not be the first time an industry slowed up production to create a shortage so they can squeeze every last penny out of a consumer.

    New rifle?

I am really jonesing for a CZ527 full stock in .223. Does anyone have any experience with them. I love my CZ75 and I have read good things about the rifle.
  4. There is something about 80lbs of steel hitting a body part. I bet they made you PT after that too.
  5. Wekcome, if you are a member of Brick Armory I believe they discount their ammo for members.
  6. Range ammo has always expensive. Worse yet is some ranges I have been to will not allow you to shoot reloads. It is a shame when there is blatant gouging going on at your happy place. Absurd market value is bad enought, but gun guys intentionaly screwing gun guys is a shame. I was going through my 223 ammo and found some from a few years ago when I bought it for 2.89/box at Natchez. Wow how times have changed.
  7. I buy lead bullets on line. I order 2 -3k at a time, depending on weight, to max out the box for the price of shipping. There is a local guy I by powder and primers. Brass I come across. I really did well buying on ebay when they allowed it. I reload for 45acp and 44mag also, there is a good savings if you are going to shoot enough of it after the initial outlay of money. The biggest benefit, other than cost , is the ability to load down my target ammo.
  8. For 9mm I am using 125 lrn with 3.8 gr of 231. It is a nice mild load in my CZ and is very accurate in my Sub 2000. It is very relaxing and both of my kids enjoy helping out. So it turns into some quality bonding time as well.

    hi

I grew up in Colonia, within a stones throw from Iselin and Edison, literally.
  10. This was by far the dumbest thing I can remember doing with a gun I do remember one time we were doing a 20 mi hump and an 0331 was carrying Ma Duece. He had the reciever strapped to the top of his pack and tripped over a rock. Momentum took over and the reciever pushed his head right into the deck.
  11. Welcome, can't ride a bike with a 22 anymore in NJ. We use to do it all the time by Scotch Plains about 23 years ago.
  12. Welcome, there are a lot of Monmouth guys showing up.
  13. I was shooting this morning. I have been firing my wifes 1911 that I had built for her. I have been testing it the last few times out and have neglected to clean/oil it purposely so I could see what it would take. It is a very tight gun. So, I let it run itself dry and after about 400 rds it was getting a little slower. Well today it finally was so crudded up it would not feed anymore. I went to release the slide and it did not want to move. After I removed the loaded mag, I used my left hand to push it forward and it went all right. Took a chunk of meat right out of my hand in the ejection port on the barrel hood. The RSO was on the ball and had a bandage and peroxide asap. No stitches, just a little piece of meat lost and some blood.

  16. It is still cheaper, but right now primers seem to be the hardest component to find. I was lucky to find some last night. I bought the last 1000 small pistol primers in stock. Supplies should come around again soon.
  17. A few months ago I was speaking with Milton about a youth league/shoot. He said they have a lot of ideas but it will take some time to set up. They are/were also considering 24hr member access. I think there is an opportunity for BA to do big things.
  18. It is definately a money saver. And very relaxing to boot. The nice part is being able to tailor a load for a specific need. I can load down 45acp to 38 special recoil out of a 1911. My wife really enjoys shooting it. With a little common sense and paitience it is very easy to do.
  19. I can see BA being a forum meeting place. I keep wondering when I shoot if there is anyone from this forum there. Next Wednesday I will be taking a person I work with so he can try some guns out. I warned him once he does this it will get in his blood. Glad you had a good time.
  20. I see the menber ranks keep growing. I am happy to see so many people in my area. Does anyone reload?
  21. I have never considered it before. What is involved with a team? guns, ammo consumption and time? I have two young kids, trout season and kayak season are around the corner. How much time weekly/ monthly is spent at practice? Forgive my ignorance, it sounds fun.
  22. I love 1911's but you should definately try to shoot one first. Find a range or friend that will let you shoot/rent different guns. That said, there is nothing wrong with one as your first. If it fits your hand, and feels comfortble to shoot, go for it. There are many different models to choose from though.
  23. The few times I was in there I was not impressed with them. One guy behind the counter was very arrogant and thought he knew everytjing, while another told my friend he could not shoot his 44 mag because it was to powerful, but if he became a member he would make an exception. That was about 7 years ago. I have found no reason to go back. I shoot at Ft Dix and now I have Brick Armory for an indoor range.
  24. There has to be some kind of noise to drown out the kids jumping around upstairs. And Garth and guns just seem to go together. I can't begin to count the times 0100 rolls around and I realize I need to get some sleep. 0600 comes pretty quick.
  25. Definately check them out. I believe they give a member discount on ammo also.
