  1. GunPod is a gimmick, IMO. A Google search brings up a number of stories of them dying on people after a few months. Kick off is interesting, but not needed for clay sports. It does shine though for the heavy stuff. It doesn't come on the subgauge guns, so it wasn't an option for me, but I would've skipped it anyway. The off cast on the shims isn't enough for my fat face, so I will need a little more bend put in the stock. You can't do that on stock with kick-off.
  2. Sean, I got the A400 Sporting in 20 gauge. It is a sweet shooter for sure. Be sure to follow break-in procedures though. I had second shot problems all day long on the sporting clays course last Saturday. I detail stripped the gun, cleaned off packing oil, put on light gun oil, and ran some heavy loads through it. Shoots like a champ now. Also, Lou's in Raritan almost always has a lot of nice shotguns in the store. Sometimes there are a few hidden gems on the used rack too. I got a great condition Browning BSS for $500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. No NJ Governor wants to be the guy in office when all those laid off gas station guys bump up unemployment numbers.
  4. My only gripe with the VP9 is the cheap feeling right side controls. HK has been one of the most lefty friendly firearms makers for us southpaws. Unfortunately, the right side slide release on the VP9 is very thin and cheap feeling, and it has a very small ledge for your thumb to activate it. I much prefer the controls on my P30 and P30L. I will say that the VP9 is a hell of a shooter, with a very low learning curve. I do know that HK is focusing specifically on mass producing the VP9. I don't know if that has to do with their precarious financials, or because they know they created a real winning handgun. Either way, P30/VP9 magazines (especially the 10 rounders) are currently made of unobtainium. Because of hoarding and HK allocating new mags to new VP9's, they are hard to get. My recommendation would be to buy the Law Enforcement version. You get 3 mags and decent night sights for $100 more. Considering that the magazines are selling for $60 now, it is a steal. I sure hope there is a price drop in the near future. I love the CZ pistols too, so you wouldn't go wrong with one of them either.
  5. I totally get your argument, but think of it in terms of cost effectiveness. Democratic politicians in New Jersey are incumbent, entrenched , and well funded by the limousine liberals most of us disdain, because our state is filled with them. The NRA does not have unlimited funds. Essentially the NRA can spend a ton of money and go for moral victories and elect a few politicians in places like Jersey, Cali and Mass (where the democrats will spend more next election and win back the seats like in Colorado). Or they can spend less per politician in swing and conservative states, and get a lot of politicians elected to prevent bad national legislation like a new AR ban or universal registration. To me that is the greater good, even though it means residents of states like ours get shafted. An NRA funded by every gun owner would be a true juggernaut that could take on anyone. As it stands, the NRA's power isn't its money, it's that it gets members to vote pro-gun. Would you rather New Jersey had a few more pro-gun politicians and the entire country had to deal with background checks? In my opinion that is the choice we are faced with. A shit sandwich either way.
  6. The NRA spends money at the national level, where it matters most. This isn't an organization with endless coffers of money like douchebag Bloomberg. They need to pick their spots wisely. Electing pro-gun politicians in middle America and swing states is a much more effective strategy than throwing money at politicians who will lose in liberal states like New Jersey. It is basically politicians from free America that are keeping the rest of the country from having Jersey-style stupidity imposed on them. The NRA will continue to receive my money for that reason. Why would you want to drag the rest of the country down to our level? Misery loves company?
  7. That would be a waste of their/our money, and I am glad they realize it. New Jersey is the black hole of Calcutta with regard to gun rights. It would simply be throwing good money away. The only hope of relief for gun owners in New Jersey will come from the Federal level, whether from the Supreme Court or a Republican Congress and Senate. I want the NRA to spend their money wisely. 8. This is true. New Hampshire has gone from Red state to Retarded in the last few years. Blame goes to Mass residents who move here to flee their sinking ship but keep voting for the type of fools who helped wreck their home state. Liberals are like locusts. Feed until an empty husk remains, move on, repeat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Please go f*** yourself. There are a lot of us that think the recall is idiotic and can only lead to worse outcomes. It has nothing to do with cowering. It has to do with our side playing checkers while the other side plays chess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I own several revolvers, and the examples I gave are because they happened to me. The ONLY revolver I own that has never jammed on me is a nicely worn Model 19-3. I also had a Model 629 seize on me with the S&W internal lock. The little flag that sits between the hammer and frame got caught partway up because of recoil. It took Andy at Shore Shot a few minutes in his shop to get it unstuck. I love my revolvers (more than my semi-autos), but they aren't magic. That whole "six for sure" saying about them isn't any truer than "15 for sure" with a Glock 19, IMO.
  11. Semi-autos will jam, but usually a tap-rack will solve it. A revolver can jam, and when it does it's not usually something you can easily fix. I have seen the ejection rod get loose and lock up the cylinder. Same with the cylinder stop. Mechanical devices can and will fail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. You picked a great model. That Beretta is the best fitting and softest shooting autoloader I have ever shot. If I hadn't gone with an over/under, It would've been a no-brainer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. This article visually demonstrates the performance of different chokes at different distances. Looks like Modified is the clear winner with Improved Cylinder as the runner up. I think I will still use a skeet and IC choke at Lehigh Valley and 5-Stand at my local range since so many of the targets are right in front of you. http://www.shootingtimes.com/long-guns/longgun_reviews_st_headintheclouds_201002/
  14. Thanks for taking the heat. I agree with you 100%. I am somewhat removed from the situation now that I am up in New Hampshire, but this seems like a waste of resources and will embolden gun grabbers when it fails. Notice I did not say IF it fails.
  15. Every LWRC rifle I have ever held felt like a boat anchor. If I had the choice, I would take a BCM rifle over a LWRC. Just my preference.
  16. Now just wait until you move out of Jersey and can actually carry it.

    9mm Rifle bug hit me?

9mm carbines are fun! Get yourself a Rossi lever gun in 357magnum for even more fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. That is the best analogy I have seen to describe this. And if the new gym owner offered ANY discount for members of the old gym, i don't think anyone would be grousing about it or complaining it wasn't enough to get over the trauma of the last guy that screwed everyone. Talk about goodwill gestures though... I was surprised that Tony took on the task of trying to help people that had guns at BA. That is a lot of paperwork and headache, and not much (if any) financial gain for all that work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. AIM Surplus just sent out an e-mail today with them on special.
  20. Great deal for forum members. Somebody should snatch this up fast. Kudos for Rob!
  21. Your Walther will handle any of the common weight bullets, 115grain, 124grain, and 147grain. 115 grain is most common and cheapest for range ammo. Order FMJ (full metal jacket) ammo for range practice as there are no travel restrictions on in it New Jersey (i.e. you can drive around with boxes in your car). Remember the stupid NJ hollow point restrictions though. Hollow points are what you want for home defense. They are legal, but you are limited to traveling to and from the range with them. Since you are entrusting your safety with them,do not make the mistake of not testing your gun with them. Bring a box to the range every once in a while and shoot with them. The bullet nose profile is difference than FMJ and can feed differently, so it should always be tested for function. And they are usually loaded hotter than range ammo, so it is good to know what to expect. I generally avoid steel cased ammo, but other than that I will shoot any 9mm ammo through my pistols.
  22. I have very large hands, with short fingers. The older generation Glock 19 never worked that great for me because my palm extended past the base of the grip and caused problems with mag drops and insertions. The larger backstraps on the Gen 3/4 version seem to almost eliminate that problem. Still, I much prefer the Glock 17 grip. Currently my only Glock is the G34. It is so easy to shoot well and never misses a beat. Join the GSSF, and get it at $100 less than standard retail prices. Unlike Frank (Old School), I have never been able to shoot shorter Glocks as well as the longer ones.
  23. I had a 2005 Harley Wide Glide. I agree with Shane about them being for the short of stature. I always felt cramped unless I was using my highway pegs. I wouldn't buy another. I should've just kept my 1978 Honda CB750K I owned before the Harley. It was slower, but everything on it was easy to work on. It had a high center of gravity, and I looked like a gorilla humping a football when riding it, but what a fun bike. I have an inner ear vestibular imbalance (i.e. positional vertigo), so I doubt I will be getting another bike. At least not until my daughter is all grown up.
