    HK MR556

So there's no FFLs in NJ that have or are gunsmiths? I find that hard to believe.

    HK MR556

Planned or just knowledge. Liquids can not be compressed. Liquids will always find the path of least resistance and makes a quick exit. In the case of the AR15, not enough egress for the amount of water so the water makes its own point of exit and the upper goes KB. With the HK, they have well designed exit points learned from AR15. Note that when the HK is fired when submerged the operator manually charges the rifle before firing again. This is because of insufficient pressure to operate the bolt. You could repeatedly fire the HK when submerged. But, you would have to pull the charging handle after every round. HK is a great rifle but I think the Colt one was planed. He put on a different face protection before shooting it. That means they knew before hand. It could be faked.

    $300 !

If I had seen it earlier I would hav bought this!!!
  4. The Ace stock that you mention (ARFX-E) is designed to be used with a CAR/M4 buffer and spring. I'm not 100% on this, but isn't that what the M&P15 has. Since the shop you linked to doesn't have any in stock I checked ACE and they seem to have them, you get you choice of pad thickness with them too; ACE ARFX-E. PS +1 On what rauchman said about AR15.com and M4carbine.net. ive decided on this.. but i need to figure out what to do with the buffer tube.. http://www.eguns.com/sPearCat/1-4.woa/1 ... R15+Stocks

    HK MR556

I really like the concept of the gas piston design. As others have stated it's cleaner and cooler. I looked into the MR556 when it was first announced. Being a civilian version of the HK556 it looks to be a really good rifle. I'm a little surprised that they use a two piece upper since the piston design benefits from a one piece set-up. From what I've read the piston design likes the added rigidity of a one piece. And as Caine has said it should retail for between $3000 and $3500. For a bit less I'm looking at a CMMG or maybe a Noveske M4 based rifle. Here's a little comparison of the HK556 and the Colt AR15 AGwkHktkTxU
  6. Congrats!!!! I have just two more words for you.................. Cobb Tuning.
  7. Is it allowed to trim it before laminating? I don't mean radically, just a bit over-sized from a credit card.
  8. One thing that really annoys me about the NJ FID card is the size. Why in the world could they have not made it the same size as a credit card so the thing could actually fit in you wallet?!!?!?!!!
  9. And without the First there might not be a Second, that's why the First is the First. In my book they go hand in hand.
  10. Saw a similar vid not too long ago. Guy, had pulled the trigger on his very expensive bolt action with a brand new very expensive scope that he had just sighted in. Bannana peeled it just like that. Seems he forgot to remove the boresight.

    And they weigh a ton.
  12. Looking at the two images I would say that the director or producers were definitely trying to get their point across. Man, I hate California. The only good thing to come from there was Right on Red.
  13. To add to Chad's list. One bolt action. Preferably (at least for me) a .338 Lapua.
  14. A forward grip on a rifle is perfectly legal in NJ.
  15. I don't know if that's dumb or stupid. I was waiting to whole time for him to get shot or hit by a fragment. I guess I'll go with stupid.
  16. According to Federal's website their 147 gr FMJ 9mm should only drop about 2.50" at 60 yards. It certainly shouldn't be in the dirt at that point. Now he tells me? I thought 147 gr would be good for bowling pins and steel at about 60 yards. The Range Office stopped me because he thought I had a squib. He couldn't see my bullets hitting the berm. They were probably hitting half way to the target. From now on, 115 gr. for my Storm.
  17. The blanket answer is.......Quality. Quality of material, milling, finish. Be prepared to spend copious amounts of time at AR15.com.

  19. Thanks for the link, I've added it to my subscriptions. Doing the trigger job is fairly easy and straight forward. I found that disassembly of my 90two is the same as the 92FS. The Beretta 92FS Disassembly guide was invaluable for this. I even saved all the video files to my computer just in case the site ever disappears. And like he says in the video be very careful removing and installing the slide-stop. It will scratch the finish on the frame, which I did. I was lucky that after installation the lever covered the scratch. Just remember to not remove any metal. Only remove the finish and polish the metal. Some people use a stone. But, I felt it would be too easy to remove too much material. So, I used Micro Mesh polishing cloths. I happened to have these laying around from another hobby. I started with 2,400 (quick removal of finish), 3,200, 6,000, 8,000, and ended with 12,000 grit for a glass like finish. You can get 3"x4" sheets of Micro Mesh at Hobbylink.com. It only take a few passes on each cloth. Don't used too much pressure and keep your parts square to a flat surface (I used a glass table top). 20. My family's 2A history goes back to before this Great Country was a country. As far as I know, only my Father and I are gun owners today.
  21. First thank you for the compliment. Patience is paramount when searching for a 90two is what I learned. I haven't fired it in this configuration yet. So, I can not attest to the recoil spring. 13lbs. is standard for the 92, 96 and M9. So, I am using it as a starting point. Many who own 96s suggest using a 14 or 15lb spring. The Competition Hammer spring is certainly the single greatest improvement. Polishing the action is just the icing on the cake so to speak. Smooth and crisp just as any firearm should be, I estimate the trigger pull to be at 4lbs if not a little less in SA mode.
