  1. More specifically, was the BCG ever torn down and cleaned? The bolt is where you truly see that the AR15 truly does sh!t where it eats. I do not advocate cleaning so often that it causes unnecessary wear, but for the life of me cannot see how taking 5 minutes to clean/inspect your gun could hurt. Simply running a bore snake is not enough.
  2. Some of us get that feeling turning the key on a 51 year old vehicle and hearing the 60hp fire up. Same feeling, just different end of the spectrum. I drove an electric rental once, meh.
  3. For those that have never stripped the BCG for a good cleaning every once in a while would probably be very surprised at how much carbon and crap accumulates in the bolt. I have seen more than enough stoppages caused by fouled BCG's. Granted most were not AR15, they were M16/M4. I keep my BCG clean. It only takes a few minutes. I do not consider a complete BCG a replacement unit, only the components and keep spare parts.
  4. I read in the OP that he had a short-stroking issue, broken gas rings could cause a loss of gas pressure causing short-stroking. A new BCG (with new rings on the bolt) would resolve this. Rings are a definite breakage/wear item, I always stagger the spacing on the rings to avoid any blow-by. I would replace them if they appear worn or if the bolt slides too easily in the carrier.
  5. Under-gassing could be caused by a number of things. Many AR owners never clean the gas tube. Very long pipe cleaners are made that work well for this. Did you check the gas key as previously mentioned, is it fouled or loose? Other potential culprits are the gas rings in the bolt, they are like piston rings. Do you have a lot of fouling in the bolt?
  6. That is true. We are not allowed to use any natural urine scents either.
  7. I live in a CWD quarantine zone in VA (Northern Shenandoah Valley). I killed to deer this season and the state provided free testing. Both were clear. The state biologist I spoke with said that the prion that causes the disease can only be destroyed with fire >700 degrees. Baiting is not allowed in VA, aside from fair chase reasons the state says that baiting can contribute to the spread of the disease because the saliva is shared in a bait pile.

    Scored. P365

It is a holster made for multiple guns. Here is a picture of what I am carrying today. I like simple and comfortable.

    Scored. P365

I use Relentless Tactical. They are leather, comfortable and cheap. I do not like Kydex/plastic holsters.

    Scored. P365

After a couple of range trips I am comfortable enough with the reliability of the gun to now carry the P365 every day. I can't see putting a light on this gun, it would negate the comfortable size for carrying (appendix carry). I keep a small Streamlight in my pocket in case I need a light.
  11. Yes, you are allowed to carry in public schools in OR with a concealed weapons permit. http://bfy.tw/M752
  12. +1000 on this. Field stripping a Glock consists of taking off the slide and then removing recoil spring and barrel, that's it.
  13. NJ is also filled with rude people.
  14. I cannot for the life of me figure out how anyone stays in New Jersey. Whenever I go to visit I see an overall misery. There are few (if any) states worse than NJ, most places are much nicer.

    Scored. P365

I out a lot of rounds through the P365 today. All flawless. This is my go to CCW from this point forward. I cannot believe how easy to shoot and accurate this gun is. I looked at my expended brass and did not see drag in the primer like the previous picture. Will post pics tomorrow. This gun is very new, Sig must have resolved whatever issues existed.
  16. I live about 30 minutes south of Winchester. It is great out here. Home is my shooting range, everyone seems to have a backyard range. People are much nicer and the taxes are way lower.
  17. This is exactly how I expected it to go. Unlike NJ, VA has a strong gun culture. Open carry is a constitutional right in this state. Concealed carry is also shall issue. Off-topic: $15 minimum wage was also rejected in VA, again not like NJ...

    Scored. P365

Nope. And I have have no interest in a CZ, not for any particular reason. What model would be similar?

    Scored. P365

I picked up a P365 yesterday. Will be shooting it tomorrow. I cannot believe how good this gun feels (prior to ever shooting). I may get rid of 4 other subcompact (including Glock 26). This gun is awesome.
  20. I believe that a felony is a crime that is punishable by imprisonment for more than one year or by death. It is the amount of time you can be sentenced that matters, not the actual sentence. You can be convicted of a felony and serve no time, but the possible sentence for the conviction must for more than one year. It looks like in OR it would qualify as a misdemeanor.
  21. And no new gun laws. McAuliffe tried to stop CCW reciprocity and it was shot down hard. Last year all of the anti gun proposals introduced by Gov Northam never made it out of committee. As a result of that fight VA recognizes any and all concealed carry licenses. I do happen to live in the most conservative part of the state. It is a different world here.
  22. I am in VA now. There is a very strong 2A presence here. Much more so than in NJ. Politicians from the DC suburbs introduce bills every year like this and they go nowhere. There is a Lobby Day this month that is run in a very organized manner. They have busses and then form into lobby teams to meet with legislators. You then meet individually with your representatives. I rally takes place at the end. Last year it resulted in the governor's anti 2A bills going nowhere. People in VA are very united/organized in their fight for their rights and don't accept it like in NJ. I also never see any infighting on any of the forums in VA concerning fighting for 2A rights.
  23. I cannot understand how anyone would stay in NJ. I moved may family and company from NJ to VA. Since then we have prospered. Much lower taxes and freedom. I can hunt with a rifle or handgun and have done both. NJ just plain sucks. I do have family there, bit it wasn't enough to stay miserable. Most US states are much better than NJ, Just leave and live a free citizen.
