  1. I had to ask this. First I guess I should say this range is perfect for me, location wise. If they only have 9 ports, and members get first crack at them even before they open, unless they limit the members at $350 bucks, it just seems to me that shortly, I could be just feeding the snack machines and cooling my jets until a port opens. That seems like a waste of a lot of money. Or am I missing something. If you have to wait years to join Shongum why won't this follow in it's footsteps as soon as it catches on? No hijack intended.
  2. RE: Meltzer's. Hell that thing was gone in a week. Maybe they could order one for you. They are great down there. Or better yet, check with the dealers on the forum and see if anyone could get you a deal on one. I got to play with it and it's worth the money just for the cool factor. Hey, at least it's not TACTICAL!
  3. Yes it's legal. I had one in my hand at Meltzer's in Garfield over the summer. The one I held had a stick mag not the drum. BTW that sucker is heavy at about 12 pounds. Good luck its a fun gun.
  4. I had the same thoughts so I recently contacted them when I lost my social security card. The following is dirctly from the Social Security website. Just sayin' Why do I need one? You need a Social Security number to get a job, collect Social Security benefits and receive some other government services. But you don't often need to show your Social Security card. Do not carry your card with you. Keep it in a safe place with your other important papers.
  5. My friend, a Glock armorer received this from Glock. Sorry but the chart that was included would not copy to this post. GLOCK, Inc. U.S.A. GLOCK, Inc. P.O. Box 369 Smyrna, Georgia 30081 U.S.A. Fax. (770) 433-8719 Tel. (770) 432-1202 Dear GLOCK Armorer: On September 6, 2011, GLOCK Inc. will begin voluntarily exchanging the recoil spring assembly (RSA) on its new Gen4 pistols shipped since 2009 GLOCK’s product development team has modified various elements of the RSA to ensure each pistol’s performance meets the company’s demanding standards. With several variations of the RSA in the market today, GLOCK’s goal with this voluntary exchange is to standardize the RSA to gain the best possible performance in each pistol. Armorers should note that Gen4 G26 and G27 models will not require a modified recoil spring. The new RSA’s all have unique markings on the base of the part. The enclosed chart is designed to help you readily identify the correct RSA for your pistol. Unless a directive is mandated by your agency or your store, the replacement of the Gen4 pistol’s RSA can be performed as part of the regular field-strip process. Agencies or Consumer’s wishing to participate in the exchange program at no charge are urged to call 1-877-745-8523 to order their new RSA. For more information on the details of the exchange program, visit www.TEAMGLOCK.com.
  6. Gentlemen, the safest way to check your propane level is to fill a large glass with hot water and slowly pour it down the side of the propane tank. Then touch the metal. Where the metal is warm, it's empty. Where it's cold, that's the propane. . Someone just posted a pretty large generator with a Yamaha motor. It's a hike from Bergen County, but it beats being flooded out. Good luck.
  7. I bet if you freeze those suckers, we may be on to something!
  8. Great shots! What kind of camera do you use?
  9. Well, I got my 3 permits and made my fisrt purchase. Good deal, and as you would have it, another nice deal comes my way and I can't friggin' do it because I have to wait 'til the middle of March before the 30 days are up. CRAP. I'm not going to file for an exemption because it's not like it's a matched set of Colt dueling pistols or something.I just don't understand how making law abiding citizens wait is going to make a difference in the crime rate. Or get guns off the streets? If someone was going to shoot somebody they would do it with the 1st gun. Does it slow down straw purchases? Or is the State thinking someone is going to fill a crate with registered guns and ship them to Mexico? I just don't see how this is going to solve anything. Also, can someone who understands these laws tell me, is it 30 days to the day or do I have to wait until day 31 to purchase another handgun? If you purchase face to face and the white copy has to go to the SP within 5 days, does NICS know if you are less than 30 days or is the onus on the buyer? Do you mean to tell me there is someone in the SP firearms bureau counting every purchase, from every citizen in NJ, every day to try and catch a 30 day violator? I can see it now-"hey Chet drive up to Morris County we get a guy who miscounted and bought a .22 on day 29!" Lights and siren all the way! What is the penalty for not waiting 30 days anyway? Prison time? Banned from future pruchase? Confiscation of previously owned hand guns? Oh mentors of 2C please enlighten this humble , wayward soul.
  10. Martha? Martha! Where are those brass things we put in the gun I bought that time there were those riots in Newark? Guess I'll run down to Dick's and buy a new box. I could have sworn they were right here in my sock drawer........
  11. I have been following these posts and decided to share an experience I had while in Massachusetts.I carry a Remington aluminium handled model 218 folder about 3 and 3/4 inches long.It is clipped to my pocket so I don't have to dig into the bottom of the pocket to get at it, and keep the lint out of the folding mechanism.I was wearing jeans and a tee shirt. Long story short, I went to see the USS Constitution which is berthed at a Naval station. TONS of security, before going through the metal detector, I put the knife and wallet in the pan, shore patrol pulled it out, took it in the back, measured it, and said that's a long knife. I replied yes sir,it is, I've been carrying it for years, he said oh ok just don't take it out on board the ship. Enjoy your visit. I'm over 60 so maybe that made a difference, but I just thought I'd share.Maybe to a trained eye, demeanor could be everything.
  12. MANATEE, Fla. (AP) — A group of unruly teenagers attacked a 27-year-old Marine and his wife who had asked them to be quiet during a Christmas night showing of "Little Fockers." The attack happened as the couple left the theater near Bradenton Saturday night. Authorities say the fight attracted about 300 bystanders. Federico Freire, home on leave from Afghanistan, says they left the theater shortly after the teens were asked to leave. The couple was kicked and punched in the parking lot before a gun-brandishing witness told the crowd to step back just before deputies arrived.Five teens were arrested, including a 17-year-old who struck a deputy and was stunned by a Taser. The fracas caused the theater manager to close early.
  13. Welcome to the hood! From Hopatcong Hills
  14. Did ever look into a Caspian? Select your parts, your serial number and have a gunsmith that you trust build it for you. It's really not that much more than a Kimber.
  15. I can't help but wonder how many guns they will lose in the move!
  16. I have a S&W model 17. It's nice because you can transition to .38 with a similar K frame. The problem is, revolvers require too much hand movement when formal target shooting, in rapid fire whereas a semi auto allows you to back on the bull faster. I guess revolvers are outdated now, especially in .22. When shooting .22 or any competive shooting, removing all the variables is the key to success. The problem lies in reliability. The nature of .22 ammo tends to give you a variable you usually don't see in center fire ammo. Rimfires screw up. If that happens in a revolver you just go on to the next chamber (if time permits). With an auto loader, you have no choice but to clear the jam or just stop. My experience with the weapons I mentioned above leads me to give you advice to go with a Ruger Mark (fill in the blank)I hardly never took mine apart. I cleaned the bore and and receiver to remove unburned powder and crap and it rarely failed. The ejector is everything in a .22 and Rugers can't be beat in that area. The Buckmark was just not my cup of tea. It had more muzzle flip than a bull nose Ruger. The Hi Standard trophymatic (old manufacture) was simple (if not the simplest) to clean and was a tack driver. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the suggestions the other posters have put forth. My absolute favorite was a Browning medalist which I sold at a time when things weren't so good for me financially. Guns are alot like children. Once you acquire them, you use them, play with them and get used to having them around, and when they are gone, you miss them. You can find a new Ruger, a used High Standard and Buckmark at about the $400 or less. Good luck with your search.
  17. As a fire marshal and fireman for 30 years, I can tell you from first hand experience that you have nothing to report if you don't want to, but we're going to be pretty pissed off if you don't let us know what in your house if it is on fire. Key word on fire. The FD might not be too crazy about fighting the fire in the interior, but we can't stop you from having ammuniton should you choose to do so. What you do inside your house, unless prohibited by ordinance, is your business. You might also have a problem explaining to a judge why you didnt tell the fire department about the ammo should someone get hurt in the fire. And yes contrary to popular belief, firemen who get injured in a fire can sue. The article is correct, but I do have to say I have seen some shotgun slugs wizz over my head. But it was nothing compared to a spray paint can. That being said, it is safe to say that smokeless powder goes fizzzit but black powder is a different animal all together. That goes boom! The International Fire Code 2006 New Jersey Edition is does not apply to owner occupied one and two family dwellings. The New Jersey Explosives Act is what you would look to,but only if you store powder. 21:1A-133. Permits for manufacture, sale, storage, transportation or use of explosives A. No permit shall be required for the storage, transportation or use of smokeless powder which is used by private persons for the hand loading of small arms ammunition and which is not for resale. For this purpose not more than 36 lbs. of smokeless powder and not more than 5 pounds of black powder shall be stored or transported without a permit.
  18. It depends on how serious you are, how good you are and how fat is your wallet. All the guns mentioned usually can shoot better than I can. When I shot in leagues, I used a Hi Standard, a Ruger and a Browning Buckmark. Guys that had more better eyes and more corn in the silo used Smith 41's. All of them can put a bullet in the X at 75 feet. None of them jammed but that Ruger is a **** to put back together. Best of luck.
  19. Interesting........ I used your code and bought 500 rounds of 9mm. The next day, Gander sent me my own promotion code. I went through all the BS, checked out with my new code and boom. No discount. I called Gander and they told me promotion codes are not applicable to ammunition. Congrats on your buy.
  20. If they win and just provided the permits to carry to those individuals, wouldn’t that just open another door as then the ruling would then be considered arbitrary and capricious?
  21. I apologize for my ignorance, but what does one do with a dead 500 lb bear once you have killed it? Ya can't eat it, and I'm sure it's expensive to make it into a rug.
  22. If you can, save up the extra money and buy the INOX. I have both a 92 and 96 INOX and love the stainless look. Especially if you are a steel kind of guy, as you say you are.
