  1. Is this the case you were talking about? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEAPONS OF CHOICE 'Broken gun' conviction upheld by court Rules government does not need to provide evidence to defendant -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: May 04, 2009 10:05 pm Eastern By Bob Unruh
  2. I was on the DMV or MVC website the other day and I thought to myself wouldn't be nice if we could get the State to produce "Support 2nd Amendment" or "The Right to Keep and Bear Arms" license plates. According to the web site, we need a minimum of 500 members could the NJGF memberships count? What do you members think?

    beretta 92FS

No difference, it's been a number of years since the 92 was produced in Italy, production was moved here to satisfy one component of the original military contract. Hmmmm. I bought my 92 in January of this year and it was made in Italy. Other threads on this forum stated the 92's made in Italy had a little better fit than the US made ones. Although I don't see any difference in either gun. I also have a Inox stainless 96. You will LOVE this gun. Just don't forget the barrel is exposed and gets hot! But I'm sure you will only make that mistake once.
  4. Now here's the fly in the ointment. Is it calendar days or business days? Usually, the state runs on business days. I think it's an interesting point. Business days would make the time span even longer. The bright side (if there is any) is a police friend of mine said he tihinks the new governor may just scrap the whole project because it is too expensive to re-tool the existing process to make it work effectively. If any other LEO's have heard that, I'm sure we would like to hear from you on such a dreary day. :hope:
  5. The better article would have been the one on the right "beer could be good for your bones"
  6. This guy (misssed his name) has 500 Lugers in his collection and another 1,100 he uses for bartering. He estimates there are over 100,00 Luger collectors in the US. He has one that is worth over $500,000. Gold plated, baby Lugers, and some with US with the Eagle stamped . One of the .45 Lugers (#2) is worth $1,000,000. They are saying that Michale Krause is bringing the .45 Luger back into manufacuring 1,187 machinings to make the original Luger. He wants just make just 100 a year at $15,000 per.
  7. For anybody else snowed in, the history channel is showing the history of the Luger. Yum! Would love to have one of these!
  8. Years ago, under a different police chief, the police did that to me when i worked for Verizon. Not only was it difficult to get a letter to my boss in such a large company, but they almost didn't open it as they weren't expecting it and thought it was from the PBA asking for money. I couldn't tell my boss I wanted a handgun as this was right after that guy went "postal" which c'oined the phrase. So I had to make up a story just to get a reply. If I hadn't my permit would have been denied.
  9. Welcome from Hopatcong-the armpit of Sussex County.
  10. My first question would be why was she in a stall in the men's room?
  11. What is this "carry" that you speak of? I have heard it whispered in the back alleys that there are people in lands close to ours who are not put in prison for displaying a firearm. But it is probably just old wives tales. No one really believes such things. For they would be whisked away to prison if it is spoken of in public. I have read where just taking a picture of a gun, or having a compter screen saver was enough to have you face the cruel jack boots. Never speak of this gun thing again!
  12. The best was on News 12 when they interviewed some guy in one of the major cities and he said..don't make no difference, i'll just have all my family members buy one at a time. There's always a way around a law......ain't go'n' make no difference.......one gun a month..are you kiddin? ha ha that ain't gonna stop nothin.
  13. Years ago I taught my 5 year old daughter to shoot with a Harringotn & Richardson Sidekick 2" shooting .22 shorts. Of course, hearing protection, shooting glasses(a little big) and at arms length. She's been shooting ever since.
  14. Actually, the legistaltion is aimed at small children who find lighter attractive becasue they light up, make noise, blink or resemble some other toy a child is familiar with. Children are not the only ones fooled by novelty lighters. Beaverton, Michigan, resident Laura Fowler purchased a novelty lighter for her 4-year-old child after mistaking it for a toy. In 2006, a South Carolina woman shot herself in the hand while attempting to light a cigarette with what she thought was a pistol-shaped novelty lighter. A fire marshal in Wisconsin was making a purchase at a local home improvement store when his 12-year-old daughter picked up what she believed was a tape measure. When she clicked the button on the tape measure, a flame came out. Fortunately, the child was not hurt, and the store owner voluntarily stopped selling the lighters. In North Carolina, a 6-year-old boy sustained second-degree burns after playing with a lighter that looked like a toy cell phone. In Maryland, playground equipment was set on fire by three 5-year-old girls using a gun-shaped lighter. In Oregon, one child died and another was permanently brain damaged after a 6-year-old, playing with a lighter that looked like a toy dolphin, started a fire. In another incident, a mother was severely burned after her child, playing with a lighter that resembled a Christmas tree, ignited the mother's bed. So we are not trying to take away your Winchester lighter you bought at Dick's, but rather we are trying to keep little Johnny from gettting it, going into the closet to play with it and setting your favorite blue suit on fire. 15. I bought a 2 pack of LED 1 watt flashlights at Sam's club last week. VERY rugged very, very bright $24. Each runs on 3 AAA batteries. I use a Pelican Rechargable on the job and these cheapos were almost as bright and last 15 hours on those alkalines. Well well worth the money. I have a ton of all kinds of flashlights and these are really nice for the price.
  16. Ha ha! Good Point! I would probably take out a loan just so I could feed that thing. I would keep pulling the giggle switch 'til they caught me!
  17. Col. How much longer (season wise) is Hercules open? I went there last year and the very nice gentleman who's name escapes me said he had no problem with me shooting my hand guns. I never to a chance to go back. You just have to use your head when shooting. It's also a llittle hard to turn around in there if you have a large vehicle.
  18. yeah i like that too. But I dont think I ever saw a casing without a headstamp though.
  19. i have boxer lab mutt that would probably drown him in dog spit after licking him and showing him where the silverware is..........oops thats not a rifle.....err .223 works for me
  20. The purpose of the CAR system is to survive a close quarters combat situation. There is no dominent eye, no strong side blah blah. Im lefty and once I learned CAR I shoot right handed. There is a distinct advantage to learning this system. If you are interested, I can provide you with the name and number of the man who taught me. He learned directly from Paul Castle and is still friends with him. The training is intense, time consuming, and not cheap. It is definitely not for mall ninjas (no disrespect intended). Be prepared to fire a 1,000 rounds. If you are a person who will benefit from this, let me know and I will hook you up.
  21. I am not LE but I have been taught CAR by a LE friend of mine. Once you subscribe and understand how it works, you never want to go back to weaver or any other stance. Weapon retention is superior, not depending on both sights, or this eye or that eye allow you to see bad guys coming at you in angles you can't see in other shooting diciplines. The whole idea side exposure to the enemy is moot because he will never make it that far to get that shot off before he's history.
  22. I'm not too sure about just the state police giving written warnings. I know for sure that Roxbury township gives them (my wife just got one) I know Fair Lawn and I think Denville gives them also. As far as one town knowing what the other town did when they stopped you, that's as simple as the officer calling dispath and saying Annie see if any of the surrounding towns have anything on this guy. (Usually looking for warrants) dispather calls the other local PD's and comes back with something like....they have nothing, but XYZ town wrote him for tinted windows November of last year. Every MV stop has to have a disposition which goes in the CAD. Usually, the officer just clears, (nothing issued) written warning or summons issued.
  23. Thank you all for the replies. After finding nothing by that name, I called the woman and got her to read the box. Well, she knew it was a silver something.... turns out to be a Beretta 686 Silver Essential. At least that I could find. Thanks again.
  24. My friend's husband passed away and she claims to have 1992 special edition Beretta Silver Star over/under shotgun. I can't find any reference to it anywhere. If you know of it, what's it worth never fired. Thanks guys
