  1. Nice looking pistol! The name is a bit strange though...almost like a name of the evil villain's weapon in a James Bond movie.
  2. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to look at the 92A1. All of the Beretta 92's he had did come with 15 round mags. I guess it all depends on how he gets them from Beretta. MecGar mags for the 92FS are cheap enough that it'll be easy to replace even if it does come with the 10 rounders. Just sell the 10 rounders on Calguns or some other Commiefornia gun forums
  3. I was over at Lou's Gun Shop in Raritan, NJ last Friday and they had one in stock. Talk to Mike there as he also had a few 92fs's ( black, inox, and M9 variants) in stock so you can compare them all at once and make a decision yourself on whether you prefer the a1 version more.
  4. Agreed that from a plastic gun perspective, the Walther P99 is a great looking gun! Very "euro" looking.
  5. Sorry....the remi stuff can be found @ aimsurplus.
  6. Look at my post from two days ago. Remington golden saber jhp 185gr for 15.95! You can't beat that and this is high quality nickel plated jackets!

Isn't there a difference between the Gen 4 mags and previous gen magazines? Gen 4 introduced the ambi mag release, so I think that older mags will work no problem in the Gen 4, but Gen 4 mags (the ambi mags) will *NOT* work with previous generation guns since they don't have the mag release cut out on both sides of the mag body.
  8. Who did the mag pinning? I'd love to pick one up if I can get a few 15 rounders with it!
  9. There's a few places that I've seen a CZ 83 at. Silver Bullet up in Rockaway had one last time I went there. It's essentially the same gun as the 82, just in .380 instead of 9x18, and a different style trigger guard. It'll give you a good idea of how the 82 feels in hand.
  10. I think it's only $18 if 1 year or more elapses since your last background check by the SP. If you go back again within the 1 year, they don't need to re-run the background check so you don't need to pay
  11. Nice writeup and congrats on owning such a nice pistol. I held the FNP-9 last time I went out to Cabela's and I really liked how it felt in hand. The only thing that I felt was a rather large con is the lack of NJ compliant mags...I hate having to use neutered 10 rounders. Although it is pretty nice that FNH ships the pistol with 3 mags Have you found any good sources for FNP-9 parts at decent prices?
  12. Aimsurplus.com has some great deals on Remington Golden Saber ammo. http://www.aimsurplus.com/catalog.aspx?groupid=5 Rem. Golden Saber 9mm 124grn +P JHP 25rd box - $14.95 Rem. Golden Saber .40 180grn JHP 25rd box - $14.95 Rem. Golden Saber .45 185grn +P JHP 25rd box - $15.95 Shipping isn't too bad, $9.95 on my order. This is pretty good home defense stuff.
  13. I used to use the S&B ammo almost exclusively in my CZ 75. It shot great. As of late though (2009/2010) their QA seems to have gone out the door and they're shipping with very hard primers. I went down in hammer spring weight on my CZ to help with the heavy DA pull and got alot of light primer strikes. Looking at the round I saw a very nice ding in the primer and I was surprised the round didn't go off. Same weight hammer spring with Federal AE, WWB, or Remi UMC, was just fine. So I stopped using the S&B ammo.
  14. Congrats on your purchase! Looks real nice! These SIGs are def a great deal. Where'd you pick it up?
  15. @sig, you getting the competition hammer and trigger job done? It's really nice once you get your pistol back My experience with shipping to CZ Custom was pretty painless. Went to FedEx, sent directly to CZ Custom, they did the work and sent it directly back to my home. I probably ended up paying too much for shipping, but at least it was hassle free...
  16. I like the little logo on top of the slide...but I hate the awful bright white lettering on the side of the slide, especially 'LIMITED EDITION'. Looks like a cheesy billboard!

    CZ handguns

Sorry, just saw your question otherwise I'd have replied sooner. I would feel comfortable carrying this pistol (if I could...) If you decide to get this job done, make sure you don't go too aggressive with the weight of the main spring. The stock main spring is 20# and I originally had CZ Custom put in a 13# spring. The trigger was super light, but I had a lot of light primer strikes with certain types of ammo (S&B - which uses very hard, lacquered primers). Other types of ammo (i.e. Federal American Eagle were 100% reliable). The 13# spring would be fine if I loaded my own ammo or if I was using this pistol for competition/range-only, but as this pistol serves double duty as my HD pistol as well, I wasn't satisfied. I replaced the 13# spring with a heavier, 15# spring, and in approx 1800 rounds I haven't seen any further issues. Trigger is still sweet with a 15#'er in there

I paid $160 for the work + shipping. Here's a link to a detailed description of the work CZ Custom performs: http://czcustom.com/sanditriggerworksada.aspx According to them, as long as you leaving the firing pin block intact, you can still qualify to compete in Production class. I left my in and the gun is still a sweet shooter.

    CZ handguns

I've got a CZ 75B which I sent off to CZ Custom (czcustom.com) to get their competition hammer installed and a trigger job. They basically polished the internals, replaced the stock hammer with the competition hammer, replaced the stock mag brake with the stainless steel mag brake, and lightened the main spring to 15# (down from stock 20#). This does a lot of improve the feel of the gun. Trigger is smooth as butter and doesn't cam, the pull is also lightened in both DA and SA modes. The mags drop free as well. I really love this pistol and can't recommend it enough to shooters out there! Here are some pics:
  20. Walther P99 AS anyone? To me the AS trigger variant is a really nice evolution of DA/SA. In "AS mode" the first shot is a long pull like DA minus the unbearable weight (same weight as SA) followed up by short light SA mode. This Walther model seems overlooked quite often!
  21. 15 round mags available directly from CZ and like maksim said, they are often on clearence for $24.95 / mag...pretty good deal so no need to get blocked mags. https://shop.cz-usa.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=11100 btw, how would front serrations on the slide help in racking the slide? Just curious because I just grab the slide from the rear and rack back and don't have any issues. Slide has a bit smaller surface area to grab on to, but still not bad.
  22. I shoot up in Bridgewater, NJ, at the Somerset County Fish and Game Protective Association (http://www.scfgpa.org/). I don't have a HK45 - as I mentioned in my original post, I was down in North Carolina shooting a friend's. I'm up for meeting up though to shoot the P30L and I do have a nicely tuned CZ 75B if you're interested in trying it out Guests can be brought in at my range.
  23. Thanks for the offer, what range do you shoot at? Thanks for all for all of the comments too everyone! It's clear that I'm def going to have to shoot a LEM trigger first before making a final decision.
  24. If you're looking to stay in 9mm, I'd say in NJ, the Glock G19 is the most desirable. Just a wee bit smaller than it's full sized brother (G17) so range level accuracy isn't effected. Plus you get access to the hi caps mags for it (15 rounds) and you're not limited to 10 round magazines that the G17 requires.
  25. Well the HK45 that I shot was the da/sa variant, not the LEM trigger. The DA wasn't horribly heavy, nothing like it is on my CZ, but it was a pretty long pull. The SA was really nice. Smooth, crisp break with no creep at all. It had a pretty short reset that had just enough tactile feel to let you know when to squeeze the trigger again. All in all, one of the best da/sa triggers that I've felt...one that I'd actually feel comfortable leaving stock. When you handle this pistol, it really feels like a lot of design and quality control went into it. The fit and finish really came through in the trigger. The LEM seems like a very interesting design and that's why I'd love to hear anyone's experiences with it on a P30. It's basically a light DAO trigger which has 2 points of reset. Upon racking the slide, the hammer drops back down but the mainspring remains in a half-cocked state. The initial pull on the trigger is very light, until you get to the very end, where the mainspring is cocked the rest of the way, then you feel about an 8#.pull (or 4.5# with light LEM trigger). after the gun fires, the hammer is dropped again and the mainspring is left again in a halfcocked state. Now as the shooter you have two reset points, short and long. You can wait for the first short reset or you can let the trigger out all the way for the long reset. No worries about having to decock the pistol if you're done shooting. Seems like a innovative design....brings the behaviors found in striker fired pistols (glocks, xds, m&p) to a hammer fired pistol.
