Dick's Sporting goods in Paramus, NJ has plenty of .45. They have the Remington and the Federal 50 ct boxes for $24.99 I believe. Also Ramsey Outdoor at the Ramsey store has the Federal bulk pack 250 ct for $125.00 plus tax. They also have small pistol primers (federal) and large pistol primers (cci) and also all the rifle primers you need.

Secaucus is a terrible spot for Cabelas. They can't even keep up with the potholes on Route 3. The road always seems like its about to fall apart. That area is just way to congested. You ever drive near there when a game or concert is getting out??? That Xanadu is a joke and big scam from the beginning. I know Cabela's wants to open up a store in NJ and they obviously realize the huge market over here. The one thing they didn't realize is how hard it is to do any kind of business in NJ and the BS they have to put up with.

What you should get prepared for when buying a gun at Dick's is the walk of shame you have to endure in front of everyone when they "walk" you to the door and then hand you the gun after you buy it. Thats about it.

GP100 all the way! Seriously. If I blindfolded you and let you hold both you wouldnt be able to tell which ones which. I think the trigger is slightly better on the S&W but you will pay a premium as of now for the S&W. Most gun shops sell them between $125-$200 more over the Ruger. People are going S&W 686 crazy right now. Come by on the next Bullethole Tuesday night meet (hopefully I can make it) and I'll gladly let you shoot my GP100. I have shot both and cant really tell a difference. The one plus the Ruger has is NO internal lock for what its worth. I have heard of lock failure but never experienced it myself as I dont own the S&W.

Even though the extractor claw "looks" ok it doesnt mean its ok. That is most likely your problem. I don't know much about Kimber but I would see how they are as far as warranty and see if they can fix it for you. Don't mention you bought the gun from someone else. I would just see what they can do to hep you.

I still don't get why they were arrested. Are guns just outright illegal in NYC? Was it the type of longarms this "wacky" family had? Unbelievable.

These are fine. I have used these kind before except they were the smaller ones. They will probably be more happy that you are using these instead of the paper targets because of the mess people leave behind. Just don't use cans and bottles. They won't be happy about that. Which WMA do you go to? Clinton or Flatbrook?

Nitro talk to the guy in Davis about transferring. He told me they will transfer to Thunder Mountain FREE and also FREE transfer if you buy a gun from them. It has to go to Thunder Mountain though.

Good luck getting the 686 in 6" barrel. I have searched far and wide for the past 3 weeks and no one has them in stock or can even get them. Most stores have them on order. I found 1 shop that it 1 in stock and the out the door price was $861.00. I passed because I am not paying that much for that gun. You can definitely find a 4 inch but not many of them left. I settled on a 6 inch Ruger GP100. Looks exactly like the 686. Should be picking it up next Saturday. Will let you know how it shoots. As far as 1911's there are plenty of them out there wherever you go now. A year ago it was a different story with 1911's. They were selling like hotcakes! As far as pricing most stores are hit or miss. You may find one store selling a gun at a great price and then the rest of their guns are priced on the high side. I would do a forum price request here. They usually give great prices if they can get the firearm you want.

Well it is all up to the Chief of your town. You HAVE to disclose the arrests though because they will come up. If you don't disclose the arrests and they come up they can deny the FID application just for the simple fact that you lied on it. It is definitely worth a try and just be honest on the app about the arrests. I know someone who was arrested with 2 DUI's and he disclosed and still got the FID. I do know that my town the officer doing the FID asked me right away if I was arrested for a disorderly persons charge because that was enough for the Chief to deny me. The best bet is to do an expungement. I know you said you read into it and you might have to wait 5 years. I would just consult with a lawyer about an expungement. Even if you have to spend some money for a consult from a lawyer it might be worth it. Maybe it can be done without waiting the 5 years. Anyway good luck with it.
