Thanks! I just got 500rds shipped to me today so I'm hoping to get some range time this weekend. -Scott Have fun and work on perfecting your trigger pull. I bet you shoot low and left 7 O'clock initially. Good grip with support hand, good trigger finger position, and no limp wrist. I'm sure you'll learn to love your G22.

You guys just decide and I'm there. I need to function test a 22 pistol conversion so I'll be there anyway. If ya want to shoot trap I'll bring a couple of machines. Just post your intentions.

Firm up the time you guys are going to be there. I'd really like to put some faces with the names. I can be there anytime as long as I get the Christmas stuff up in the attic. LOL Kim and I have some work to do at the pistol range but I'd like to come over and meet you folks at the 100. Wear a pink carnation or something!

My daughter travels routinely with her pistols and ammo. Contact the airline for instructions. You can find instructions on the airlines site as well. I would strongly suggest that you print out the airline instructions from their site and take them with you. http://www.handgunlaw.us/ This is a good starting point. But I would also go to the official AZ site and read and PRINT OUT their laws as well and take them with you. I'm sure you will follow the exact letter of the law but be discrete and polite of course. I'm sure if you are prepared, discrete and polite you will not have a problem and a pleasant trip. Have fun, Frank

Used Glocks are available because they have a larger part of the market and have been around longer.

So now I'm officially a Glock Armorer. Want me to take your G22 apart and put the 34 parts in a plastic bag? LOL Seriously, Great choice.

Matt: I said I was going but, I was reminded it's Kimber's Birthday. I'm so whipped LOL!

What Gander does do is match prices as Malsua alluded to. The other thing is their Gunsmith shop seems pretty friendly. I neede a T/C fiber optic front and they went in the back and found me one. The other thing was I needed a couple of blind screws and they found them also, and didn't charge me. Yes they are pricey but it is NY and I try to buy what I can from the local guys. Walmart for ammo +1. CCI Mini Mags yesterday for $6.50 a box. Milford. Frank

I'm pretty sure the action is exactly the same. In terms of mechanics ONLY, yes you could convert the rifle into a pistol.. HOWEVER.. IT IS ILLEGAL under Federal Law to do such. The Charger is sold as a pistol, where as a 10/22 is sold as a rifle. The gist of the law is that a pistol can be turned into a rifle (If fitted with a 16" or longer barrel).. but a rifle can not be converted to have less than a 16" barrel unless you get Class 3 paperwork which is beyond the realm of possibility for a normal civilian in NJ. Good job CSJ. This thread is complete

What caliber is it for? I don't know the numbers but may be able to lend you one until you get yours. Frank in Oak Ridge

I agree for the most part with what you're saying. However, for the most part, even if we wanted-- we couldn't deploy military to the border in any other function other then engineers or oversight (which is what the Army does currently). For the better, military personnel are not deputized, and do not have any law enforcement authority... unless Posse Comitatus is lifted and the Insurrection Act is limited as well. However, those incidents are far and few between. Now, sending the National Guard, that's a different story I believe. As for everything else, I would support taking a more pro-active approach that involved some profiling. Not necessarily just looking at a person or their passport and saying 'yay' or 'nay.' But fusing the profiling with a more robust and deeper involvement of intelligence assets and homeland security (not necessarily just the department though)... sounds obvious, right? However, I think human intelligence has become pretty shoddy and the other forms of intelligence have been neutered a bit; which all leads to a lack of complete actionable intelligence. Help me out here. Do Posse Comitatus and Insurrection Act prevent US troops from being in the US protecting our borders from foreign invaders? I've read them both and really they are legaleze to me. What's the interpretation?

Am I missing something? Yes, do the Israelly thing for screening. Bring the kids home from Afganistan and post then on the US borders and on flights coming into the states. Beef up out intelligence and take the bad guys out surgically. Killing a whole family with a missle off a drone is bad press. We have the best snipers and spooks. Both GI and contractor. Ahh! Just call me crazy.

+1 agreed I bet you can start up as cheap as $150 and cheaper if you buy used equipment. I'll donate cases if you want to get started. If you use a single stage press it is simpler. You need about 16-20 square foot max and safe storage of supplies is easy. Single stage press you can load about 100 rounds an hour no sweat. PM me if you need help. I bet you can get it down to 15 cents a round or less without a problem. $7.50 a box and this is without casting. And the nice thing is you can load 38 special velocities and recoil in 357 cases and you won't get that damned fouling ring in the chambers. -
Bad rifle, bad rifle, evil rifle :hope:

Stay sharp dad! Soon you'll be fitting custom parts to pistols, being told your target gun has lousy reset and explaining the history of berdan primers. Then when you can shoot side by side with your kids competitively, then, the grandkids come along. Enjoy, they're not 6yo forever. Oh I forgot! You had better learn to reload a thousand rounds a week.
-
My personal opinion. At 6yo, rethink the whole handgun thing and start with a long gun. Something tiny that won't intimidate her. Little Miss Glock, my daughter, started off with a BB gun at that age and my 8yo grandson is shooting a 22 rifle. Just my opinion again, 6yo and a handgun :? If you started her a little later she could still be competing by 12yo. You must be a good dad. Firearms education equals firearm safety.

Really good point Ray! Though a revolver may be heavier for a new shooter, jams in a semi make me uncomfortable with a new shooter. They only have to get nervous and turn around once with a jammed weapon. The other thing is you get more quality target practice shooting a revolver single action. Less ammo wasting. +1 Ray

How about a rimfire meetup at Cherry Ridge?
Old School replied to Col. Mortimer's topic in Events & Meetups
I was shooting in 15 degrees, snow flurries and 20+ mph winds on Sunday. Only managed 20 shots before I ws too frozen.... So, my daughter stops over and she just put night sights on her G19 and a steel recoil rod in her G34. So... of course she has to go to CR to try them out. "You want to come dad?" "No, too busy" LOL She lasted about 50 rounds. She said her's were the only foot prints at the pistol range.
