  1. I know SJSC does not allow .50B BMG on the 100 yard range, but don't know if it's allowed or not on the 300 yard range.
  2. The front sight is supposed to be in focus, the rear sight, and the target are supposed to be blurry.
  3. There are no classifications of NJ legal muzzle brakes. Totally subjective in many ways. Rule of thumb is exit hole should be caliber sized, and not open ended, like an A2 flash suppressor. I would also be careful of a brake that advertises flash mitigation, as it might be construed as a flash suppressor vs a comp/brake.
  4. This one: https://egwguns.com/wecs.php?store=232536056986&action=display&target=30805 It's machined as one piece.
  5. Another member here has a couple of those brakes, and 'the front fell off'. Apparently, that is an A2 flash suppressor with a washer welded on the end. His weld failed, making it into an A2 flash suppressor again. As we all know, that's bad news in NJ. He had to remove and replace the brake, a pain in the ass. I use a similar brake on mine that is machined as one piece. https://egwguns.com/wecs.php?store=232536056986&action=display&target=30805 I have been very pleased with these brakes. They control the muzzle well, without being obnoxiously loud.
  6. I bought a complete, brand new MT6700 5 years ago for $1050 OTD. I see just the uppers on gunbroker fairly regularly. I have toyed with the idea of selling the upper on mine, since I don't use it all that much, but haven't committed to it.
  7. You ought to find yourself a Colt MT6700. HBAR, 1/9 twist barrel, A4 upper. Very accurate. I have an upper laying around I enjoy swapping out on one of my rifles from time to time. It's a pig to carry around, though.
  8. If you were closer I'd invite you to shoot my 6940 and 6920.
  9. I'm a HUGE fan of Colt's monolithic uppers (6940/901 series rifles). They are simply outstanding. Out of the box, the 6940 has a ff barrel, flip up fsb, and the monolithic upper has a continuous rail that is an excellent optics platform. If you prefer a carbine length rail (I do), then the 6940 is damn tough to beat. It is surprisingly light, too. If I remember correctly, its lighter than a stock 6920. Both of my 6940's are extremely accurate, and with good ammo, will shoot MOA or better. I have recently put 10 rounds of 77gr SMK's in a quarter sized group at 100m with my ACOG equipped 6940. The down side for some, is that you are married to that rail configuration. Not a big deal for me because I don't have use for a long rail. Some people prefer the ability to install a longer length rail. If a longer rail suits your needs, then buy a 6920, and bolt on the rail of your choice. If carbine length does what you need it to do, I highly recommend the 6940.
  10. As soon as I sell a kidney, I'm in.
  11. I agree. My friend is going to call him next week. In order to give this guy the benefit if the doubt, I'll wait to disclose his information depending on how he handles the situation.
  12. Checko, I don't know the name if the shop. My friend told me, but I can't remember who it was. All I know is that the FFL is a retired NJSP officer, and is a 'kitchen table' FFL with a small stock inventory. My friend bought the Bushmaster from the FFL's inventory. It scares me that this FFL doesn't seem to know NJ's laws regarding semi auto rifles. Lots of potential for liability.
  13. It came already pinned and welded on the carbine.
  14. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question, however, I'd like other opinions on this issue. A friend of mine bought a Bushmaster carbine from a dealer in NJ recently, and it came with this muzzle device: https://www.dropbox.com/s/afn44ij2k80uq0g/Photo%20Apr%2006%2C%2013%2020%2042.jpg I'm positive that it's not legal. Bushmaster 'Izzy' flash hider. I DO know that the carbine was purchased new, in NJ from an FFL. I told him to take it back to the FFL and have him make it legal at his cost. Can't believe that a NJ FFL sold him that. The liability that subjects my friend, and the FFL to could have the potential to be costly in quite a few ways. If it were me, I would have been pretty pissed off. Hell, at least the stock was pinned properly. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Jeff
  15. I believe that's a way to tell the difference between the genuine Matech and an airsoft version.
  16. The buffer retention pin was my exact thought. Thanks for posting that, Checko
  17. Jim, Let me get this straight. You changed the old stock out, and now the buffer/ spring has play inside the receiver extension? What exactly did you change? Stock only?? Knowing what I know about the 'compliant models, I doubt you changed just the stockS Did you replace the receiver extension? I guess it's hard for me to understand what the issue is without seeing it. I'll be at the Knoxville airport in about an hour, I'll have a couple of hours to kill if you want to call me and discuss it. Jeff
  18. This is a great little, inexpensive comp. I have 4 of these. Not really louder than a standard A2 flash suppressor. Effective, without being obnoxious. https://egwguns.com/wecs.php?store=232536056986&action=display&target=30815
  19. You won't be thanking me when it grows into another AR. You, and your checkbook will be cussing me. Lol
  20. No sir, keep it. It may grow into another rifle.
  21. Glad you figured it out. Don't be afraid to lube the snot out of it. I have become very fond of Mobil 1 synthetic oil (0W-40) lately as a weapons lube.
  22. I like the Matech BUIS. Low profile, yardage adjustable out to 600 yards, and can be had relatively inexpensively. I use it on all my optics equipped AR's.
