  1. It should be. Well, for non law-makers anyway. John Q. Public would've been in the back of a patrol car facing several charges.
  2. So, when's the Range warming party? Seriously, keep on the lookout for people/companies looking to get rid of clean fill.
  3. I read an article awhile ago talking about wounds made by home defense weapons/rounds/loads. One comment from the story that I remember well was; 12 Gauge 00 will leave a fist size hole in the intruder. Nuff said.
  4. It seems to me that the criminal background check is all about fingerprints. If not printed at the time of contact with Police, the issue was not that serious. No prints taken, no arrests or convictions show up on BG check.
  5. Kudos to the guy for making a video of this event. Outside of the obvious physical wounds, he had to feel a tremendous embarrassment as well. One of our worst fears, and I'm glad he had the balls to share it. He said he did that draw thousands of times. The message I got was complacency could happen at any time, to any one of us. He's lucky he didn't hit a vital organ or another person.
  6. Ditto, I'm the same way. My confidence is greatly increased when I'm shooting outside at multiple targets like cans, jugs, plastic bottles, telephone books etc. I'm at my best when I hit an object and it becomes air born, then shoot it again. I feel really focused, and shoot quick 2-3 round bursts without hesitation or anticipation. I like the freedom of movement shooting outside gives me also, and hit my marks with a handgun at farther distances than indoors. Anticipation is an issue that can pop up at anytime, for any shooter regardless of experience. The solution is a smooth trigger pull. The shot should be a surprise. Well, almost.
  7. Has to be exempt. How can anyone who doesn't have a garage or driveway not get to their vehicle without crossing the sidewalk? I live in a very dense area also. I only shoot my rifle at Ft. Dix, so it's cased and in a box with my target stands when I go shoot there. Everything else is in my Midway range bag (great bag by the way), handguns unloaded inside pistol rugs in the side compartment, ammo in the center console, and all mags in the bag's mag compartment. It's important for me to remain an anonymous gun owner in my neighborhood. Just a few nosy neighbors who gossip on a regular basis make anyone easy target for slander/defamation.
  8. What a score, congrats! I agree with leaving it alone. My Dad's S&W Duty Revolver is tortured on the outside. I wouldn't have it any other way.
  9. Thanks for the link and info. Tanners has a very good reputation on the Pa. Gun Owners forum.
  10. My girlfriend owns 2 S&W revolvers (.38 & .357), a .22 semi-auto pistol, is trained and has been shooting weekly for over a year. She doesn't keep her guns loaded in the house, ever. I've hinted several times that it's something she may want to consider. She's open minded, but for now she's not interested. I don't push her, and respect her decision.
  11. Is that the Tanner's by Wicen Shooting Range in Furlong? What brand ammo is it?
  12. I have one quick-safe that's setup for home defense, and another floor safe to store the rest of my handguns and some SD ammo. My other Ammo stays in locked ammo cans. I have no children in my home. My revolvers stay oiled including a light coat inside the barrel, and furniture polish on the wood grips. They were my Dad's guns, and I rarely shoot them, so they're considered long term storage. I do pull them out every couple of months to wipe off the old oil and replace. The semi-autos get shot on a regular basis. I clean them after shooting, and put them in gun socks, unless I'm breaking in a leather holster. As time goes by, and you acquire more guns you'll find out what works best for you.
  13. I agree. It's really a shame they didn't heed the complaints and change their attitude instead of making it worse.
  14. I shot a bunch of the MSF stuff when .45 ACP was on sale for $14 a box. No problems at all with that ammo.
  15. You exercised patience and thought the situation through before you acted. I'd say you did very well.
  16. I bought my first Apple Powerbook back around 2001 or so. It was pretty expensive for what we got back then, just under $2000. Fedex delivered it. The next day Fedex came and dropped off another one. I was billed for only one. Called Apple and had them send a return label. I've returned a few wallets also. I have a problem with keeping something that isn't mine regardless if it was a big company like Apple, or the cab driver who lost his wallet. I've yet to be tested finding $17K in cold hard cash, but I would like to think I'd do the right thing with it. Yeah, call me an arse but I'm pretty sure I would try and find the owner.

  18. The Mecgars have been working fine for me. As others have mentioned, I've experienced very slight hesitation when inserting the mags, but nothing to concern me. They're good mags, I bought 2 more. They drop right out when I'm ready for another. After break-in they're fine and they are built very well. Pro Mags have a pretty bad reputation, I steer clear of them.
  19. You can order 15 rd. mags from CZ USA for $24.99 a piece. Here's the link CZ-USa
  20. I voted Pa. Outside of the issues in Philly, the system seems to be working very well for that state.
  21. Nothing in the Asbury Park Press or Star Ledger. I'm hoping that no news is good news.
  22. Should you decide to fly w/handgun checked, make several copies of the Vegas competition information w/your name on the registration, and keep them close by.
  23. Decided I'm going to fix it myself. Larry showed me how: cylinder end shake
  24. I'm looking for a good, reliable gunsmith who knows his way around S&W revolvers. Prefer someone in Monmouth or Ocean counties.
  25. Got mine today, nice shape. A bit of a once over with a rag and some spray cleaner and they're good to go.
