  1. when I left I had a lot of people tell me things like "oh if everyone leaves no one will be left to fight blah blah blah"... "what happens when there is nowhere left to run to.. " "PA will end up just like NJ" I really like a LOT of the people on this site.. some really good people.. but your all nuts.. all of those statements are true.. but in a very honest way.. I can't worry about that.. because everything that has happened to me since I left has been a positive.. I pay a lot less.. I make more.. I get more for my money.. and guns.. staying living in a place that so opposes every way that I feel was completely impossible.. to be honest.. I left mostly over guns.. everything else was just a bonus.. I was SO tired of this gun being evil because it has a flash hider.. or this magazine being banned because it had one too many rounds.. its RIDICULOUS.. so yeah.. I "ran away" and I don't regret it for one second..
  2. I am not nocking the AK platform.. I still have that 9mm AK pistol.. and my Saiga 12.. but for the average carbine buyer.. I don't understand how there is even an AK market anymore.. I am not interested in turning this into an AR VS AK debate.. but one of the big draws of the platform was cost.. I know my first carbine ever was an AK.. because I was turned off by the AR pricing..
  3. when ARs were $1000.. and AKs were $400.. I understood why people went with AKs..

    1301 Update

I am working on a similar solution.. I am going to cut the top ring off the ghost ring so its just a U and then instal a fiber rod in the factory front sight.. I already built the front sight just waiting for the rod.. then I will sight it in like adjustable pistol sights.. it will be marginally less accurate I think.. but it should be faster..

    1301 Update

I have a match saver.. if the light breaks I’ll be shocked LOL the shell carrier is on its way out.. I just didn’t get rid of it yet.. I had it off but put it back in when I went to the range the other day.. It still not usable for any kind of 3 gun shooting.. I need to solve the sight issue it’s still too slow.. it’s VERY accurate.. but slow.. I think I’ll have it solved in about a week.. Hold 12 in the tube?? That’s crazy.. LOL

    1301 Update

Not if it’s right near the muzzle.. yes if it’s further back like on an oldd school carbine.. on on old carbine where muzzle is at 16in and light may only be at 7in due to a shorter handguard.. it’s easier for the light to end up behind a barrier when mounted on your weak side.. this is the same problem with 6 o’clock mount.. coming over the top of a barrier the light could easily end up behind the barrier.. if light is right near the muzzle then no it doesn’t really matter.. I prefer to not use a remote switch.. but with this gun.. due to the layout there was no better option.. Most of my carbines are light far forward no remote mounted weak side..

    1301 Update

Also it keeps my sling and light away from one another which is an added bonus

    1301 Update

Because I prefer to activate with my thumb.. I normally run my thumb high on the forend so it’s very natural to slide down to engage the switch.. As far as the light on the right.. I am right handed which means the bulk of my body is to the left of the gun.. so if I am shooting from behind a barrier I want the barrier to block my body but not the light.. running it on the right accomplishes that..

    Stippling

I might want to stipple a handgaurd but I am looking for the smallest possible stippling possible.. I just want to break up the flat surface not make 10in deep crevices... any advice..
  13. well yeah for sure.. and then you can put your 40 round mag on your suppressed SBR.. but thats not an option for everyone.. LOL
  14. I think in the spirit of the law.. the mechanism would have to be designed in a way that you could not readily override the mechanism.. if its just a latch.. button.. etc.. you would need to activate and then release it.. now that is JUST an assumption on my part as I have no basis for thinking that.. but I just believe if the magazine is built in such a way that it can hold more than 10 rounds.. and is CAPABLE of feeding more than ten rounds continuously without interruption.. you will be back on shaky ground...
  15. One of the biggest problems I see at my work.. is the over engineering of things that have a simple solution.. now I don't suffer under the oppressive anti gun NJ dictatorship anymore so I know its easy for me to say from the outside.. but isn't what you are asking for kind of an overly complex solution.. AR mag changes are ridiculously fast to begin with... but if you really wanted to have more ammo at the mag well.. couldn't you just use a mag coupler? and get two mags together.. that would at least get you to 20 on the gun.. drop mag.. slide it over and push up.. I would trust a coupler on some reliable mags over some overly complicated mechanism that is supposed to stop my rounds every ten shots? just asking if this is really a solution? or an opportunity to introduce more points of failure and over complexity..
  16. while I appreciate people are fighting a good fight.. trying to straighten out things that are being done incorrectly.. the fact that someone even has to do that speaks volumes as to why I will never return unless I absolutely had no other choice..
  17. why do they have to make the mags so hideous.. I mean a mag being functional is what is important.. but its so weird looking..
  18. I left NJ several year back and moved to central PA... and I would do everything I could to never ever even consider going back.. I read stories here about how the PD reacts to people inquiring about guns.. and how its mostly negative.. ill informed.. and where the citizen is almost treated as a criminal.. in PA.. when I was renewing my LTCF at the local sheriff.. I was asking about sign off to make a sawed off shotgun.. the response "oh you just fill out the ATF paperwork now we don't even need to sign off anymore so its better now". total opposite of the NJ mentality.. here I am telling LEO that I want a sawed off shotgun.. and the response is like I am asking for directions to the local gas station.. no negativity.. no bad advice.. no "OH why do you want such a violent criminal weapon" IF firearms are a high priority in your life.. NJ is not the place to be.. its not just the laws on the books today.. it is the general anti 2A mindset of the state and a vast majority of the people in it.. I do understand we are talking about a job you have had for years.. but seriously if guns are important to you.. start looking for new work..
  19. I wear a Suunto Kailash, has minimalistic smart watch features in that it gives me email and text alerts.. I really like it a lot.. its a quality watch.. when my wife purchased it for me they were around $1k but are down to like $400 now.. but there are a ton of other Suunto models some are less costly..
  20. I just 1 click order Surefires from Amazon and don't even think about it.. they are reliable.. they come right to my door.. and I don't pay shipping.. I could probably save a few bucks if I searched around.. but to be honest its just not worth it to me.. time is money.. and effort to search around for a better deal for a few bucks is just not worth it.. Amazon is simple and reliable..
  21. I think the big question is what is it going to be used for.. for normal shooting.. moving about fast.. shooting rapidly.. I prefer a chest rig.. it keeps everything up and supported.. plus my mag load out is center so reloads are quick.. I am considering shooting 3 gun.. and have started to build a 3gun setup.. I found a chest rig to be slow especially for shotgun reloads.. so for that I use a safariland ELS belt with ratchet strap mod and I don't need keepers or anything.. its VERY easy to get on and off.. and its secure.. I can't really figure out why this is the case.. why two types of shooting that are relatively similar cause me to have two different preferences.. but I think its mostly the shotgun reloads.. I love and hate thigh holsters.. I keep using it and not using it.. LOL but for the most part I normally end up keeping it because the disadvantages are offset by the advantages of getting it away from everything else thats going on..
  22. because a multimillion dollar business already making money hand over fist can not be bothered with the intricacies of ever evolving complex gun laws in anti 2A states.. its a business decision.. it is cheaper for them to just not sell NJ people anything that falls into the generic category of firearms.. than to evaluate the legality of each item.. especially when you are talking thousands of possible items.. that is just a guess..
  23. I agree with this.. I had a slightly loose mount once that was barely detectable at being loose.. coincidently it was a PRO.. I don't think that had anything to do with it.. in that I don't think the PRO has any issues.. just coincidence.. but tiny shifts at the RDS were amplified downrange.. and consistency sucked.. dirty barrel? no way.. I put metric tons of ammo through my ARs.. rarely clean them.. and have never experienced anything like that.. I think for your barrel to be fowled enough to produce what you are experiencing.. your BC would be so fowled it would barely move..
  24. i like the haley setup.. I use Tactical Taylor and I think they have a micro setup also.. and TT stuff is solid..
  25. its not role playing if you have better gear and shoot more often than most local cops..
