Something else to consider........the oil companies claim that you will get 4-6% better fuel economy by using synthetics over conventional oil. If true, and considering that you can stretch out the oil change intervals with synthetics, you will probably save money running synthetic oil over conventional oil.

Very true........but they can't live forever. I agree their lack of internet savvy in this day and age for an organization as large as them is inexcusable. Somebody there has to be internet literate, at this point in time, it strikes as wanton disregard for the internet.

I've been a member of CR since 1990 and the crabby old codgers have always been there. When I first joined, it was a single shot range, except for the pistol range. AR's back then would get you dirty looks from the old long term members, if you fired more than three shots in a 10 minute span they would give "advice" that you're going to ruin your barrel because you're heating it up to much. There were no RO's back then and the crowds were minimal. I suppose you're dealing with the remnants of that crowd, who are probably lamenting that the old days are now gone and I doubt they will ever change. I would say that overall, I've always had good experiences there. That said, they are in desperate need of upgrading to modern technology and modern shooting styles. This will hopefully come with younger leadership there.

So what exactly is the deal with Clinton road? I've heard it's haunted, and have been up and it down it many times but never notice anything "weird". Definitely is one of the most desolate (but scenic) roads in NJ.

Actually it's in Parsippany with a Mo Plains mailing address. And for those who are tempted to go into the old buildings - the ones from the 1800's - know that Greystone has it's own PD (NJ Human Services) that are usually very bored. When I was in high school, my friends and I would "go spotting" at night for the monster bucks that run around there (and no NOT Jacking - we didn't have any weapons with us) and they would routinely pull us over to see if we were shooting the deer.

I could have described it as "posting", but I don't think as a new hunter he would have understood what I meant. We always called what you are describing as "still hunting" as "slinking".

Assuming your hunting for deer, on 20 acres you're going to be still hunting (from a stand, blind or just behind some natural cover) since driving is not practical on 20 acres. If you have never still hunted before, don't underestimate how cold you'll get sitting in a tree for hours in December or January with the wind blowing - make sure you have warm clothes and boots. If you need to buy new clothes, you might as well get them camo so you can use them for winter bow, coyote or crow hunting if you ever decide to go for any of that. Don't forget you need to have enough orange when doing most gun hunting. I never bothered buying the sent lock clothing because it's expensive. I usually do use sent eliminator sprays when deer hunting, but I'll often also then find a red cedar tree or some similar to rub on my clothes as a cover sent. That said, deer are still probably going to smell you anyway, so pay attention to the wind direction when picking a spot to sit.

Easy now..... We don't need to steal either, and we don't normally come into a customers house anyway. Funny you mention your rates...........I was doing some plumbing today in my house because I didn't want to pay the plumber $250 to do a job that cost me $10 in parts.

Every town is different as to whether or not they ban discharging. Some may ban discharging of firearms but not other things like a bow. Regardless of what laws your town has passed, your neighbor is not shooting in a safe manner, so I don't see how he could be allowed to continue do it if it's putting his neighbors at risk.

Can anyone cite the statute that says it is illegal to make a right on red with a red arrow? I was always of the impression that this was the law, and had an argument with someone about it a year or so ago. The only information we could find was that it's legal to turn, on a red arrow, after coming to a complete stop and it's safe to do so.

Depends on who you ask.........I certainly would have hesitation about shooting full power loads in it.

There's case law that the MAK 90 is legal.

I was not aware of that, I was under the impression they could tweek the uniform code to adapt to local conditions. I'll have to keep that in mind. As for this incident, that was a few years back and that guy is probably gone by now anyway.

Yup, been there done that, and would have to agree, the most painful thing I ever experienced - although I've haven't had a kidney stone. I had mine out when I was 12 years old, and there was no laparoscopic in those days. I was in bed in the hospital for a week and out of school for two. One of my workers had this done laparoscopic a few years ago, he walked out of the hospital the next day.

The way the F&G laws are written a CO can go onto private property at will to enforce F&G laws. I was in a club that had guys that played by the book. We took over a property that had had a "club" (more like a bunch of outlaws) on it, in the middle of the shotgun season. We had 9 CO's "raid" the property, drove down the logging roads on it and even climbed up into a tree stand of a one of our guys to check his license/equipment/etc. When they realized he had everything nice and legal they asked if we were with a guy they were looking for (who was the landowners buddy), when we explained that we had nothing to do with him and his crew, they backed off some with the intense scrutiny. We found out later on that the landowners buddy had lost his hunting license for two years for getting caught with an untagged deer, but was still hunting anyway, and the CO's knew it, they were watching the place. Keep in mind this property was 250 or so acres and almost all of it could not be seen from the road or any public land. I believe the legal premise for this authority is that the state owns the animals since they migrate over many different properties and therefore can regulate and enforce these regulations of the animals. Whether or not this would or has stood up to constitutional challenge, I can't answer.

I suppose the argument could go either way, but the permit is Indeed valid (as in, not expired or revoked), it's just not recognized by NJ. NJ wouldn't have the authority to invalidate an out of state permit, only the authority to refuse to recognize it. I doubt the authors of that legislation intended to allow out of state CC permits to used to buy HG ammo, but like a lot of laws in gun NJ, it's poorly written and ambiguous with no case law to guide us.

The guy selling the Mini 14 for $1400 was crazy high priced for all his stuff.
