  1. Anyone with a 5.7 watch out for that AE ammo. I tried it before I sold my 5.7 and I think it sucked. Otherwise,, thats soem decent prices on a few of those items! Ken
  2. Thats what happens when you take attention away from someone that feels they deserve it. Ken
  3. They are pretty crappy rounds. It seems that you must take what you can get in todays market though. Ken
  4. With a bolt gun you can get quite a few more loads out of your brass compared to a semi auto. If you neck size only you can get way more than 8 to 10 out of em. Ken
  5. The bad ones are all LC 11. The federals actually seem to be holding up better. I know it is usually the other way around. I have a set of the FC M1A 11 that are on their 5th and final load. They still look good I just wont take em any further than that. Ken
  6. It might have something to do with receiver markings. There is some weird wording in nj gun laws and when a supplier or retailer does not understand them they just go the easy way out and say the hell with nj. Some have the full auto or 3 round burst setting on the safety and some are stamped AR15. I think the AR-15 stamping is a no go. Ken
  7. If your gonna do it that way invest in the tempilaq and learn how to use it. I tried a few of the alternative methods and consistency is very difficult to obtain. Also, if you make the brass glow you have already gone way to far. Again, use the tempelaq. I shoot enough that the Giraud case annealer was just about mandatory for me since I have limited time to myself to load. Ken
  8. If you anneal the cases they wont split. Federal cases in general are allegedly the weaker of the bunch. If you anneal they will give you several reloads. Where I sit rite now, the FC cases are more reliable than the LC11 cases are. I spent half a day cutting up my brass and I am really dissapointed in how much of it I had to cull. none of the FC cases had the separation groove. Live and learn I suppose! FWIW, If you shoot a lot with the M1A the Giraud case trimmer and annealer will become your best friends. I love both of mine. Ken
  9. I broke a hornady zip spindle and wasted the expander ball in the process. I figured it was my fault for not tightening the nut on the die and contacted them to order a replacement. To my surprise the sent me 2 zip spindles, 2 expander balls, and a die service kit for free. I even told them that I broke it because I did not tighten the nut and they still gave me the parts for free. They even shipped em out quick! Just like the OP, I am very pleased with them and I will continue to use their products. Ken
  10. I got my first one yesterday with my M1A and I could net believe it. It cracked 2/3 of the way around and made a giant sooty mess out of itself. Nothing bad happened but it kinda freaked me out. It was a light load of 41gr H4895 under a 168gn matchking in 3 fired LC brass. I cut open a bunch of other pieces from the batch and found most of them to have the groove of doom inside about 1/2" up from the head. The concerning part is that there was no show on the outside of the case. I do regularly drag a paperclip inside the cases looking for signs of case head separation. My main reason for posting this is that I have other batches of brass that have 5 loadings on them and they show no sign of any damage. I cut a few open and checked. all good. Now for the part everyone should know about. Only the LC 11 nato brass was coming apart. The 12 and the mixed I have are absolutely fine.If anyone here has a batch of LC 11 check it carefully. I know all my 11's came from the same batch of ammo I purchased a couple of years ago so I will guess they came from the same production run. I just canned so much of my brass I need to find some more. I dont want to hurt my favorite riffle. As soon as I can find a good way to stain these cases so the ring of doom shows up on the camera Ill post some pics. Ken Edit: Pic added.
  11. They usually have winchester 555 bulk packs for a little less then that. Somehow they have been able to keep 22's in stock fairly reliably and didnt even have a purchase limit when I was in there a couple months ago. Ken
  12. gonna make use of the snow beer pong table before It melts!? thanks for the party idea! Ken
  13. Never mind.. the whole CJ website seems to be down now! Ken Edited
  14. Dont check the website! It has incorrect info on it still! You will have to either pay the $600 outrite or take the payment plan. I know they break it up into at least half, maybe 4 payments. You will have to pay the balance of the first years dues also. The dues are calculated at $25 per month ($300/12 months). If they break the capital contribution fee in half and you join next month you will have to write a check for $550 for the balance of the year. You don't need to worry about finding shooting buddies if you are a social person. I have been a member for three years and I have met about 25 people there that I get together and shoot with from time to time. The club is worth it if you are serious about shooting. Ken
  15. Nope, I am quite fond of that one myself. Ken
  16. This snow is great! I cleaned every gun I own (no small task), loaded 1000 rounds of 40sw, loaded 200 rounds of 460sw mag, and prepped about 500 pieces each of 308, and 223 brass. And also did 2 loads of laundry! Ken
  17. I am into the Sam Adams Cold Snap rite now. They hit it good when they brewed this up! Ken
  18. If the tree was dead/dying you are NOT on the hook for it. A dead or damaged tree is a liability of its owner. A healthy tree would be an act of god. I have been through more crap with trees than anyone. Ken
  19. Start about at the mid charge in the data (or at least dont load too many at the low load). I had quite a few fail to cycle when I started at the bottom. That stuff really seemed to come alive about half way between mid and top loads in my AR's. As for the CFE Pistol... That stuff must be made out of unobtanium. Im just going to shelf that idea for now and revisit it if I ever find any. Ken
  20. I would just take it home. If you dont want to fly with it then just ship it to yourself. If you dont want to do that the next best thing is the safe deposit box. Ken
  21. The CFE 223 is great powder for the 223. It may shine in other calibers also but 223 is all I have loaded. It flows like water in the meter and is very consistent in both velocity and accuracy. It greatly reduces copper fouling but does not eliminate it. Added on edit: And most importantly...its fairly clean burning Ken
  22. I agree 100%. When it gets crappy out I dont go anywhere. Thats where the freezer comes in handy. That and I cant eat 100lbs of venison at one sitting. Ken
  23. That is a most excelent description of my neighbor. The only thing I do is buy a gallon of milk instead of the half gallon. I have a freezer full of good food. It will take a long time before I need anything. Ken
  24. You only plow for 8 hours!? When I used to do it (my whole life up til 3 years ago) it was more like 20 hours...or more. I hate plows, plowing, shoveling, basically anything to do with snow removal. You guys that plow can keep it! I only buy vehicles that can drive through 18"+ beacuse I am not gonna be the one to remove it! Ken
