  1. The article didn't say that he did not legally own the gun. The article stopped short of admitting they had no idea whether or not it was legally owned. It is not a fact. That said, we'd all be better off risking a serious mauling by man-handling the dogs or just letting the kid get eaten. With gun laws the way they are, gaining some facial scars and losing a few fingers to a pack of dogs seems preferable to the amount of trouble you might find yourself in if you use your firearm to save a child's life. Sad.
  2. I stand to lose $1,500 if I take that day off, but I'll do my best.
  3. Ugh... I wish I was kidding. I saw the rally on the 8th of February, the rally on the 20th of January... I didn't see anything about the 19th.
  4. I came across this on the M14 forums tonight: http://www.guncontrolmorecrime.com/ Details from the website: "Please attend the "Guns Across America" rally on Jan. 19, 2013, at your state capital building. This event starts at "high noon" local time." I have heard absolutely nothing about this until today and if this is a double post, let me know. I searched, but couldn't find this posted anywhere on the forums. Supposedly, the organizer for New Jersey is one Robert Posey who can be contacted at [email protected] I plan on going and will hopefully find out a little more about this before the 19th. 5. Luso, I need to try that. I get some seriously false tickets sometimes. Anyway, I came on here to say: This morning. 7:10am. Turnpike. Right by Newark Airport: State Trooper with one headlight out. I wanted to tell him to pull over, but I figured I'd never make it to work on time.
  6. "They are also disproportionately used to kill law enforcement officers. Approximately one out of five law enforcement officers slain in the line of duty is killed with assault weapons." 1/5 is now considered disproportionate? Not to mention the loose definition of "assault weapons"... I'm disappointed but not surprised to see my mayor on there: McCormac of Woodbridge.
  7. I've kept the fools on my friends-list just to remind myself that there are people out there who are more ignorant than you can possibly imagine and it's dangerous to forget this fact. Surround yourself by like-minded people and you'll quickly forget that there are people who oppose you. I've been seeing a lot of "no one should be able to own automatic weapons, that's insane" comments. People. Dumb. Brain. Hurts.
  8. I was thinking about hitting up various places in PA this weekend, but I'm almost entirely positive that my trip is going to be pointless, as everyone else has had a week-long headstart. If every webstore on the internet is a good indication of what's selling-out, then I'm pretty sure I'll be wasting my time and gas. That said, maybe I'll be wrong.
  9. The muzzle brake is part of the front sight on the m1a, but it's removable and spins right off. And I agree. Makes a nice poking stick.
  10. Aghh... my heart... someone call 911.... Seriously, though. If I were older, I might have had a rage-induced heart attack. I cannot deal with people whose views were forged entirely in a kiln of white hot stupidity. I also have a terrible time dealing with people who mistake "semi-auto" for "auto". If I beat someone to death with a dictionary, will they place a page cap at 10 pages per book? I'll leave this to someone better than me.
  11. I love the "shoulder thing that goes up" video. I laugh hysterically every time and then I cry because this woman is an elected official. And my thoughts exactly. I just read that quote on examiner.com. Anonymous apparently means entering your CC info and mailing address, now? Again, McCarthy is an absolute moron.
  12. Can't move. I like this crappy state for some reason. I never said I'd cut down the grip. That would be ridiculous and I'd end up with a butchered G19 with a longer barrel. I was wondering about removing material from the inside of the magazine-well, not the bottom. That said, I PM'd PK90 and he's got the goods. Just need to give him some cash. Probably when I actually get the G17. Side note: Woodbridge Post Office returned one of my reference's letters stating that no such address existed (town hall). Kind of ridic, seeing as how you can hit town hall with a rock if you stand outside the post office. Lost a good week in the permit process, there...
  13. Ah, after visiting PK90's profile, I see that he IS Arms-n-Ammo. Even better.
  14. Awesome, thanks a lot. I saw an old post about Arms-n-Ammo having modified magazines (PK90 may have been mentioned in that post), but I went out to Heritage Firearms in Easton yesterday and they told me they're only sold with Glocks that Arms-n-Ammo sells. They did have an A-n-A 15-round AR mag that I picked up, though. Anyway, I'll message PK90 about the mags so I don't have to cry while simultaneously cutting pieces out of my new gun.
  15. No sir. My pinky and ring finger hang off the bottom of the Glock 26. This world was not made for my hands.
  16. Hey, everyone. I own a .45 and a 12 gauge for home defense if it ever comes to that, so I decided I wanted a 9mm for various reasons, including higher capacity and cheap range time. I tried the Glock 19, but it only allowed three of my fingers on the grip (including trigger finger) and my pinky was somewhere between the magazine and mid-air. I finally settled on the Glock 17 Gen 4. After purchasing the G17, I realized that it came with three 10 round mags and not the 15 rounders for a reason. They don't fit. Somewhat distraught, I thought of perhaps exchanging it for something that wasn't a Glock. I've decided to stick with it, however. My question is... Can the mag-well be modified in any way to accept a 15 round Glock 19 magazine? For example, flare it on the inside? Or a combination of flaring the inside and removing as much as possible from the magazine's floor plate? I'd play around with it, but unfortunately, I don't have it yet. I bought it on Glock day at NJ Firearms Guild for $570 after tax and fees and nonsense without a permit handy. I figured the price was finally enough of a motivator to go out and buy the thing already. I also found this: http://picturearchiv...4a38ec0dd04.jpg Not sure if it would fit on the Gen 4 or work the way I want it to. All of that said, if my idea isn't feasible, I can live with the 10 round magazines. It's not like I'm carrying it around and it'll give me an "excuse" to buy another gun in the future.
  17. True. Around here, I'd go so far as to say cops were out to get you, not just untrustworthy. Must be nice living in the actual US, wherever it is.
  18. Telling them she had a gun didn't do her very much in the way of avoiding arrest. I think "lying" to a cop is illegal in most states, and definitely to the Feds, but volunteering information is far more dangerous.
  19. This is the sort of thing that reinforces the fact that you should never, ever tell the police anything. If for some reason you have to tell them something, for god's sake, don't tell them the truth.
  20. The older guy got a little crotchety with me, once. I had just put my .45 down after a few mags worth of shooting and picked up my Walther P22. I started popping off .22s at a rate of one round per second, as there was comparatively little recoil and it didn't take much to keep the sight on target. He got very-nearly in my face about not rapid firing, which surprised me, because I wouldn't consider separate, aimed shots as rapid fire. It also surprised me because he's usually pretty nice to me and anyone I bring. I think he forgets that he's had a conversation with me every time I go and, each time, I'm a complete stranger to him. Perhaps he had a long day, I really don't know. Otherwise, I've never had any problems with the place. It's semi-convenient to get to, I can bring my rifles, and even when it's crowded, I've never had to wait very long even though there is certainly potential for a long wait - I've just been lucky. Clarification on headshots: you can shoot at heads all day, as long as you're using a handgun and not a rifle or shotgun.
  21. Failed several times to upload pictures to the forum, so here's a link to some hastily taken pictures of my SR-556 and North American AC .22magnum. And my watch. Better quality to follow, I hope. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25139934@N04/
  22. Sorry about that, haha. I like bringing my .308 (m1a) to Bullet Hole. It's never gone unnoticed. Wasn't me this time, though.
  23. No prob. $350 for the SKS. Total after tax and NICS was $390.55. I'm not entirely certain how much they go for in other places, but from what I've seen, that's not terrible. I saw an SKS at Sayreville Sportsman and they wanted $450, unless I'm remembering incorrectly. The Sportsman's SKS also looked like it was submerged in a barrel of Cosmoline, while Bullseye's was cleaner than clean. The Cosmoline obviously isn't the Sportsman's fault, but I'm awarding extra points to Bullseye because I don't have to have spend an afternoon having a Cosmoline removal party.
  24. As an owner of a SOCOM II, I say buy it. I've never had any problems with accuracy and it's great for putting holes in whatever you'd like.
