  1. The Mossberg 500 vs. the Remington 870 has been discussed ad nauseum across the internet. Here's an example from this forum: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26325-m500-vs-870/page__p__346549__hl__+mossberg%20+remington__fromsearch__1#entry346549 Do a search and you will turn up more information than you could ever imagine.
  2. Have you looked at the Glock 35? I got one recently, and it's a lot more fun to shoot than my G23, gen.?. I believe it's slightly larger than the G22.
  3. I think it's a great value for the price. Seems to be top notch stuff, and I've never had a problem with it.
  4. Thanks for posting that. I checked it out, the price looked good, and I ordered it. Should have it by next week. Damn, you guys are a bad influence on me!
  5. I picked these up recently: http://www.lapolicegear.com/blackhawk-cool-weather-shooting-gloves.html I've used them a couple of times so far and have had no problems with them.
  6. Wow, thanks! I was just going to order some stuff from them, came back here, and saved over $17 on shipping. Muchas gracias!
  7. I always thought that if I had the opportunity to carry, I would use my Glock 19. But Anthony at GFH pointed out that it would be tough to conceal a G19 on my small frame, so he suggested a smaller, "pocket pistol" instead. It looks like I've become infatuated with the Springfield XD9 subcompact after reading a lot favorable reviews about them. I had the opportunity to hold one today, and it seemed quite comfortable (and concealable), although I did not get a chance to fire it. I would appreciate any input from those familiar with the XD9 sub or similar handguns.
  8. Here's a discussion of this same topic: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26908-mp-9mm-pro-series-or-9l/ Note my comments about the 9mm Pro not being available in NJ.
  9. Seems like cutting off a catalytic converter with a Sawzall would make one hell of a racket.
  10. Good video! If anything, it emphasizes the importance of solid training. I really need to get around to taking Simunitions. Are you listening Anthony?
  11. Axeman, that's a helpful list. Thanks for posting it. There are a couple of concepts at work here: preparing stuff for a quick getaway, and stocking supplies to stay in place in case of a natural disaster or other emergency. One's bugout bag could vary, depending on time of the year, and one's intended destination (suburban, rural, or wilderness). For staying put, I've stashed some water, freeze-dried food, and some of the other supplies and implements that you mentioned. I believe one's preparations are always a work in progress. I'm going to take a close look at your list to see where I need to improve mine.
  12. Yeah, that's about what I was expecting. I understood the OP's point. That's why I was kind of surprised to see the other.
  13. Out of curiousity, I looked up Ceasefirenj.com, and it turns out they are friendly to our cause, almost a 2A group in fact. Check out their website: http://ceasefirenj.com/
  14. Just an update. I've recently added: 8. M&P 9mm 9. Glock 35, gen. 4 (Thanks Vinny!) 10. Stag Arms AR15, model 2 I plan to add a small pistol for CCW, like a Ruger LCP of LC9; a Beretta PX4 sub-compact, or a Springfield HD sub-compact. After that, I think I'll be all set.
  15. Oh, I thought you were talking about shooters, not guns. I'm almost 60, and I can still run and gun with the best of them. Actually, it's my running that's still pretty good. My shooting kinda sucks.
  16. I watched all of season two, and perhaps the last episode of season one. I just got season one and have enjoyed watching the first few episodes. Saw several people who were not around in season two (and one who appears toward the end of the second season). Uh oh!
  17. Take a look at the Ruger 10/22. It's a classic. Yes, it is semi-auto, but you can get ones that have a traditional look like this one: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://modernsurvivalonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/ruger_1022rb.jpg&imgrefurl=http://modernsurvivalonline.com/project-ruger-1022/&h=300&w=590&sz=36&tbnid=WxYXppR4cJ-pVM:&tbnh=62&tbnw=121&prev=/search%3Fq%3Druger%2B10-22%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=ruger+10-22&docid=XZCf2SInh7Jm3M&hl=en&sa=X&ei=liDdTulfhOPRAYCp4IIO&sqi=2&ved=0CGgQ9QEwBw, which I have and love.
  18. Let me be the first to welcome you aboard.
  19. Here's a post from someone calling himself "launcherman" on a forum at f-16.net: Here's what "Top Shot" champion Chris Reed said in an interview regarding zombies. Q. If the zombie apocalypse starts tomorrow, what’s your weapon of choice? A. .22 long rifle, man. I can tote 5,000 rounds, no problem, and kill anything I want to. Of course, some people are going to go with the ARs and black guns and high-caliber rifles, but when it hits the fan, dude, you give me a duffle bag full of .22 long rifle cartridges and a good semiautomatic. A good Ruger .22 is hard to beat for your typical zombie killing. And maybe a .338 Lapau — that’s bad to the bone. See the whole article here: http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/enterta ... t-050911w/
  20. Anthony always says that women shoot better than men. From my limited experience with that, he may well be correct.
  21. Wombat, sounds like you and the Mrs. had a solid day of training. Nice description of the day's events. And it was good to meet you and Mrs. W. as well. I'm sure we'll cross paths again at GFH.
  22. Some good possibilities have been mentioned. Another thing to consider is TMJ pain. Check to see if you're clenching your teeth as you shoot. Doing so could produce pain in your temporal (temple) areas.
