  1. The Hoppes didn't bother me much. Anyone use Brake Clean? I buy it by the case to clean stuff on my race cars. Love using it, cleans everything and leaves no residue. Any problem using it to clean guns? It will certainly remove any oils/lubricants and isn't good on plastics. My shotgun is simple to clean since the barrel comes off in 2 seconds flat!
  2. Hello from another Central Jersyan.
  3. Well, the wife and I took the Remington 1100 I bought from TBtrout (Tim) on here out for some Trap Shooting today. Neither of us had ever done this before. We had some help from a friend of ours who was with us. Well, she hit 12 of 25 on her first round, I hit 11. After some people gave me some instruction on how to do it I then hit 18 of 25. The first round I was waiting way too long to pull the trigger. I thought we had to let them get out away from us further, DUH! We had fun, the gun worked great Tim, thanks! Went back to Dicks Sporting Goods and bought 4 more cases of shells (bought one this morning too). Good sale, $48.90 per case of 250! Was a nice little place in West Windsor. Open to the public for Trap Shooting twice a week, $4 per round for non-members, $3 for members. Hit the odd-colored bird and you get a card for a free round for another day. People were very helpful and there were several Remington 1100's there, besides some really nice O/V's.
  4. Stephanie, why do your posts span two or three screens? It's like there are a 100 enters or something............ My laptop and pc are both doing the same thing, all your posts seem to do this.
  5. Well, I called Paul at Arms & Ammo (PK90) about a rifle, he told me how much, I went down there and paid him his price, plus bought a bunch of ammo. I wasn't going to bargain with him, I thought the price was fine. I bought a shotgun from Tim on here (tbtrout), did not ask him to haggle, paid what he wanted, we are both happy. I do look at Buds for prices, as well as Gun Broker and Guns America so I have a good idea on what stuff costs. If I feel a local shop is too high and I want something they have I will tell them some internet prices, plus include the shipping and FFL fees, remind them there is no tax, and see what they are willing to do. Honestly I have an awesome FFL to deal with and Paul is a cool guy also.
  6. Seems that manufacturers in all sorts of industries do this type of thing (MAP). Some big-name retailers have a way to work-around this too. In the high-end audio industry you will see that you can't buy the same equipment within 50 or so miles....
  7. Greetings from South River!
  8. I talked to my friend today. His original FID was issued a few towns over. It's been long lost so his only recourse is to start the process all-over. He understands that. I told him I would be one of his references.
  9. Good thing I didn't get stopped coming back with 1500 rounds of .45ACP in my backseat today................
  10. If the local shops are within $100 of Buds I will buy locally. If they are too high then I have an FFL I can deal through. I try to support our local economy when possible (and practical), I know what it's like to run a business in NJ.
  11. I have a tough time not calling my Saiga an AK-47. I also get strange looks when I call it a 7.62 x 39 rifle. I started calling it my Big Plinker! The Ruger 10/22 is my Little Plinker.
  12. Sed quis custodiet ipsos cutodes. I agree, who watches the watchers................
  13. Does an FID card ever expire? I only see an issue date, no expiration date. A friend can't find his. Can he go to his local police dept and request a new one provided he is still eligible and still living in the same town that issued the original, or does the process need to be started all over again?
  14. They (LEO) get to deal with the scum of society on a daily basis so I can understand when they have a bad day. I try to keep my cool when I get pulled-over, no sense being a wise-a**, what's it going to get you........ I've been given breaks and appreciated them, don't look a gift horse in the mouth!
  15. I was also once told that if you are asked to get out of your vehicle you now basically gave them permission to search the vehicle. I don't know the laws, but was told this by someone who has been through it.
  16. Anthony........... Listen, I am really bad with names! Ask my employees how long it takes me to remember who is who...... Thanks for the info. The pictures made it perfectly clear. I will get in touch with you when I am ready to start modifying it. I am more interested in a good shooter, not really after the AK-47 look. A nice balanced rifle with a scope on it. There is no way I'm going to see anything at 100 yards!
  17. What is wrong with Stephanies post above? It spans f o r e v e r ......................... I have seen this with a few others at times. Makes it hard to read.
  18. Wow Adam, you moved that entire trigger assembly 2" forward or so. Now I see why Paul told me you are the man to talk to when I'm ready to modify this thing! I'll leave it as-is for now and talk to you and Paul when I'm ready to rip it apart, thanks for the info! Heck, maybe I'll schedule a day with you two when you guys are modifying some if you don't mind. I pay ya and buy lunch!
  19. Buddy in NY put a Tapco collapsable stock on his Saiga then drilled it where he wanted it, put a screw in it and filled the head with JB Weld. Is this legit? Stock does not move anymore.
  20. Paul at Arms & Ammo (PK90 on here). I just bought a Saiga from him last week in the caliper you are looking for. He does have a WASR there in that caliper. Give him a call.
  21. Yes, we can't carry and if that day should ever come it will just give all of us a reason to buy a new handgun or two! I'll let me wife buy a 686 with a 4" barrel and I'll get the 6" barrel.
  22. I am planning on buying a revolver with either my 2nd or 3rd permit. Was thinking of a 686 with a 6" barrel. Seems most people prefer the 4", why?
  23. When I pickup my first handgun I will make sure to write on my calendar what day I will be allowed to purchase the next one for sure! Harry, I agree with you. If you own a handgun and simply want to sell/trade it for another one they should let you do so. Treat that transaction as a long gun purchase. After-all, what are you actually doing at that point? You are getting rid of Mfg/model #/serial # xxxxxxx and getting Mfg/model #/serial # yyyyyyy. It's not like you're increasing your collection. Crazy state we live in.
  24. Strange. NICS is closed but our local post office is open and delivering mail today....... It's ok, NICS was open yesterday, that mattered to me!
  25. I watched a lot of his videos while waiting for my FID and P2P stuff. Wouldn't we all love to have our own little shooting range like he has...............
