  1. Nah, their network really was down, I was half way through my 4473 and it just went away... My mosin was sitting behind the counter and some guy came up and said "that's a cool looking rifle, what is it?" Told him it was a mosin, russian rifle, and he said "Wow, I'm from Russia, where are they?" Then him and, I assume, his son came up to the counter with one each. It is a bit of a ride, just about 2 hours, I have family in Easton though, so I stopped by afterwards.
  2. Probably because their sole purpose is to violate numerous state and federal laws in gaining unauthorized access to computer networks.
  3. And there have been factory rounds without flash holes, resulting in the infamous "I threw my gun" thread...
  4. Cite? Her page says semi-auto pistols and rifles with fixed mags over 10 rounds and large capacity ammunition feeding devices [the exact same term used in the 94 AWB] capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. Nothing about guns that can take a mag that can hold more than 10 rounds, because realistically there is no way to prevent someone from designing a magazine that could take more than 10 rounds...
  5. Not one a community of law-abiding people would want to be associated with...
  6. You're saying this as if the guy making the call is getting the $15...
  7. I wish straight gas was readily available. My 99 Saturn wasn't designed to run on ethanol at all.
  8. I am not a lawyer not is this legal advice by any means: It says right on the 4473 what "actual tranferee/buyer" means. That said, I thought CMP allowed one to have a proxy select a rifle at their stores?
  9. This, Kindle Fire is really an android tablet, but Amazon has it locked down. Nexus 7 is pure android, and has nook/kindle apps as well.
  10. Not entirely accurate, a sale between a private citizen in PA and one in NJ can be processed at any FFL, not just an NJ one. What time were you at sarco? I was there from about 1:30 to 4 buying a mosin. Their network went down and then the 30-45 minute NICS call...
  11. the only problem now is that there are thousands of legally owned magazines stamped "Law Enforcement/Military Use Only." How do they plan on differentiating between once bought in 2005 and one bought (possibly illegally) in 2013...
  12. What TK said, replace the current router with a wireless router, almost all will have a 4 port switch built in. Make sure the wireless network is secured, it should be by default on any modern router, with the SSID and key somewhere on the router or its packaging. Linksys is now owned by Cisco, as is Cisco's consumer product line, both it and Netgear are good. Stay away from Belkin, and not just their routers, more problems than I can count with Belkin equipment.
  13. Even in private sector, workforce is not something that can react to short run changes. Assuming they are civilians they would need to hire and train more people. If they are troopers they would need to hire and train more troopers or pull some off the street. Neither of which are viable for a temporary change in call volume.
  14. While free market forces may have been able to keep the lines shorter or non-existant, what do you want people to tell thier boss? Sorry I can't come to work today because I can't afford the $15 per gallon gas here.
  15. Is NICS slow for the whole country or just NJSP contact? Planning on buying a rifle in pa tomorrow.
  16. Because they make it easier to fire randomly from the hip.... Well it you don't have wrists I guess.
  17. I highly recommend you read 2c:39-6g, as the NJSP site merely copied Fopa.
  18. Good thing I turned all mine in at the last buyback in Camden...
  19. On top of that, magazines aren't tracked, at all. If they wanted to know what guns you bought they could go hunting through 4473s, but mags? Might as well ask how many chairs are in your house.
  20. Honestly, I think this is too broad to pass. It ban far to many things and essentially bans AR/AK type rifles.
  21. Buying myself a mosin and a crate or two of ammo for birthday/Christmas with money I got from said.
  22. How does forcing me to secure my firearms in a safe protect me? It delays access to my firearms when time is critical. Also, the analogy to auto insurance is flawed. The state only requires that you carry a minimum of liability insurance, and if you have a loan the bank will require you to carry collision and comprehensive. The state mandates that you have liability so that when you cause an accident the other person has a reliable means to have their situation righted. The bank mandating that you have collision and comprehensive is to provide the bank confidence that its collateral (your car) will have significant value relative to the principle of the loan. Forcing firearms owners to secure their firearms in a safe would provide minimal benefit to society at best. Gun "safes" are not secure containers, they are easily defeated by one to two people wielding simple tools and leverage. Most gun "safes" are rated by UL as Residential Security Containers, meaning that they are only rated to withstand simple hand tools for a maximum of 5 minutes. They are not tested against power tools of any kind. Moreover, SCOTUS has already settled this issue. DC v Heller affirmed the right to have access to a firearm for purposes of self defense in the home. DC's requirement that any functioning firearm in the home have a trigger lock or be secured was ruled an unconstitutional restriction on the Second Amendment. If the government cannot require one to secure one's firearms, what is the purpose of it requiring one to purchase a "safe."
  23. I am going to have to disagree with you. The government has no right to legislate how I may or may not secure my firearms on my premises. I do secure my firearms in a $200 cabinet, however it is not because I feel that I have to, or that I am afraid of theft. I do have small children in my house from time to time, and the safe serves to prevent small hands from touching things they should not, especially since every firearm in my safe is loaded at all times.
  24. Can't believe I'm saying it but I agree with ray ray...
