SInce I don't have any handguns,rifles or shotguns yet. For me home defence will be with a shotgun in my hand and a handgun on my hip. Price will only matter when I buy if I can find a great deal on a weapon of choice. I do agree with other post you shoulduse what you are comfortable with not something just because you aren't afraid of losing it.

I am currently trying to save money for one myself. I have grown up watching home improvement shows. A good one now to help see where problems might be is Holmes on Home and Holmes Inspection. He shows a lot of good info what to look for when doing a home inspection on your own. He is in Canada but building problems are still problems. Also when looking you can check out FEMA's web site for info if the house is in a flood plain. I also check out Trulia and Zillow website for other info that might not be in the listing. Hope this helps.

The wife and I are planning to file for our permits next week. While we wait for them to be approved. I would like to go a range in Northern NJ that rents guns. The question is which ones rent and are they child friendly (Daughters ages are 7 & 6). I will get hearing protection first for us all. I am not looking for my girls to shoot but find a babysitter is a pian and I want to get them used to guns as well now then then after we bring them home. Thanks.

I am submitting my application for my FID on Tuesday hopefully. The questions I have are to references. For references is said friends no relatives, what range does that cover? Can I use in-laws like a cousin or uncle or just used to people who have no blood relation to either my wife or me? Also should I apply for PP as well when I submit, even if I don't think I will be getting a handgun in the next 3 to 4 months? Last question is it better to used my town Elmwood Park Police dept. or go to the State Police Barack's in Totowa. Thanks in advance.
