  1. Legally yes, ethically no. I would not want the responsibility if one of my reloads malfunctioned and either destroyed someone's firearm or worse injured the shooter.
  2. I'd get it in 12ga/.223 combo. You cant hunt groundhogs with it in NJ and if they pass the laws for next year you can use it for coyote/fox too. Would make a nice gun for coyotes since you would have the close range of the 12ga and the reach out and touch of the .223 for those dogs that don't want to come in close.
  3. I have MacKenzie's for almost all of my handguns and absolutely love them. Very comfortable and hold the gun securely.
  4. You can put a deposit or even pay in full but can't take possession if a face to face purchase or run your NICS if through an FFL.
  5. The clock starts the day you take possession of the handgun.
  6. Tips usually puts them through right away. I just bought a rifle from them 2 weeks ago and it took 7 days to get my NICS approved.
  7. You've also gotta love their brass buy back program. $2.50/pound for your used brass taken off your order. http://www.freedommunitions.com/Brass-Credit-Program-s/48072.htm
  8. I have shot their .40 and .45 ammo without any issues. Very clean and consistent. Shoots as well as any factory loads I have used. I have a fresh shipment of their .40 cal in the safe now, I'll have to check the seating on them to be sure.
  9. The delay is in going through NJSP for the NICS check, not the NICS system itself. A NJ resident buying a long gun in PA ha the same wait time as a PA resident.
  10. The rings on the scope are dovetail rings and the mount is a weaver style that is why they won't match up. You need a set of weaver rings in order for it to work.
  11. Yup, just case them up unloaded and go have a good time.
  12. NJ FID is not a permit to carry, it is a permit to purchase. I would submit a copy od your Fl CCW instead.
  13. Yes I know that NICS only knows the type of firearm and not any specifics.
  14. What is non fact based? I submitted my paperwork last week and am still waiting, that is fact. I submitted right before Christmas and have approval in 1 day, that also is fact. I too have made many purchases between the end of December and now, all but one was an unscary rifle and even that one only took 1 day to come back in December. I also have had 2 handgun purchases in that time period which took 3 days to come back. Since December my LGS has had my approvals back in 1-4 days up until last week.
  15. That was January, I filled out my paperwork for a new rifle last Thursday and am still waiting to get it back. Hopefully I can pick it up before this weekend as I have a range trip planned.
  16. Unlike every other state, we use NJSP instead of going through NICS directly like most free states do. NJSP is where the hold up is not the NICS system itself.
  17. NJ is 3 days but good like finding an FFL that will follow through with it. Not worth the liability if they sell a gun and then a denial comes in because the person became a prohibited person since their last purchase.
  18. Plan on 4-6 hours, especially if doing all 3 disciplines. Biggest factor is class size and how long it takes to cycle everyone through the live fire portions. Just to clarify though, rifle and shotgun are 2 different disciplines.
  19. Yes there has. With the recent attacks on our rights, more folks are signing up to get involved in the fight.
  20. Muzzle loader/rifle live fire will be with a .50 cal muzzle loader and .22 rimfire. When you do the shotgun live fire, not only check the safety but also the head stamp on the cartridge when they hand it to you. They can have both 12 and 20 gauge guns available have been known to hand you the wrong ammo on purpose. It is a safety course, not a marksmanship course so hitting the clays is not manadatory. Safe gun handling is what they aer looking for. As for the written test, pay attention during the "field walk" session. They cover most of the answers during that time. All the others are safety and common sense questions. It is designed to not be failed. Good luck with the test.
  21. The only other regulation on shotguns for hunting besides state laws is the 3 shell max capacity so the stock should be good to go.
  22. One was a trooper of 26 years the other 7 years. Both are banned from any LE job in NJ for life. The Sgt will most likely get probation and the other they are trying to get into PTI.
  23. You can buy targets from them for a couple bucks. They come with a post and they have post hole diggers available for use.
  24. You "should" be able to grab the tab with a pair of pliers and roll it around the edge of the cam like a sardine can.
  25. Usually single cans don't come with an opener, only the crates do. You can always grab the tab with a pair of pliers and twist it around that way. Not familiar with that can but if you can post a pic it might help.
