  1. Ogfarmer, This is excellent advice and I STRONGLY advise anyone who thinks making a list and handing it over to those who seek to destroy us to re-think this move. Think about the ramifications this would have for us all in the future. Does everyone remember the hearings held last year? At least two of the speakers who co-sponsored onerous bills openly admitted (when pressed) that they did not know the steps in the process of purchasing a gun. Not only that, they were not aware of many aspects of acquisition, ownership, etc. Lets not give them any more information to use against us!
  2. I was there last Sunday waiting in line for the range (stupid move going on Sunday) and listened while one salesman told a customer that if he bought the gun today, he had to come back in three days and pick it up. The sales guy said he was sorry, it was a new policy and could not explain why they instituted it. One customer said forget it and left. Another was mulling his purchase over when I went in to shoot. There was a class going on that day and it was a zoo.

Welcome aboard! You have a strong NRA presence in your back yard....GFH
  4. Vlad, What garbage is it you cannot believe? There are a ton of posts ahead of yours, please give us a hint. Thanks
  5. Ok thanks. My intent is to limit the data I provide and thus am tracked on by someone, somewhere.
  6. If I go to PA and purchase a long gun (rifle) with my photo ID and have them run the NICS, why do I need to show the dealer a NJ FPID card or ask for a COE? The PA dealer could care less about the NJ FPID card as they sell long guns in PA with a simple drivers license. Even if I do need my FPID and ask for a COE, I should be able to put the rifle in the trunk and drive home. Correct or incorrect?
  7. Just joined for a five year term. I noted that I a member of NJ2AS, NRA and CJRPC as well. Thanks for posting the link.
  8. Good, we can use all the help we can get! After reading the article, it appears the NRA may have known about this before the news broke. This could be the reason for their recent decision to support the NJ carry cast. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/66273-nra-supports-lawsuit-targeting-new-jersey’s-“justifiable-need”-concealed-carry-permitting-scheme/
  9. Apparently she is an attorney, is more than vocal and tied in to the "party". She is from from the Oranges, Essex county. I cannot bear to hear her speak. I wish the hell she would pack it in and let someone else take a shot at representing her district.
  10. Thanks for the definition. Frankly, I feel like an ass seeing that a large part of my job is writing contracts! Most of the more lengthy (read expensive) agreements are done in Calibri or Times New Roman. Should have caught the "sans" ending as in Sans Serf. Regardless, I don't think the font is appropriate for the brief because it does not convey a sense of professionalism and more importantly, it’s not the easiest font to read. Clean, crisp characters make a pointed impression.
  11. Ryan, I am sorry but I don't understand what you mean by "Comic Sans". Can you explain?
  12. Vlad, I agree, there have been some astonishing decisions from SCOTUS over the past 30 or so years. We saw one such example when the Obamacare decision came down. Neither side predicted the court would center their focus on the interstate commerce act, yet they did. I hope that at least one of the 2A related cases pending provides enough latitude for the court to better define the term "bear arms" in a truly constitutional context. Until we get a clear definition of what these two words mean at the federal level, we have no hope of looking for relief outside of the constitutional context down to the state level. NJ liberal lawmakers have mastered the art of using the "grey area" between defined terms and the connotation they convey. Any definition (weak or strong) of "bear arms" provided by SCOTUS will become the metric used going forward as each state addresses gun laws. They will not have the ability to fabricate, misrepresent or change the definition provided by the court and that in itself will be a good thing. Let's hope the collective wisdom of the court will guide their discussion to the absolute clear interpretation of "bear arms" without creating exceptions that do not yet exist in the constitution.
  13. Ryan, Can you tell me why this simple rifle is called an "assault weapon"? I was thinking of getting a rifle but I am concerned that after I buy one, it will be outlawed for some BS reason. Thanks, Tom

  15. I want to send a send heartfelt "Thank you" to Tony at TJ's for another flawless transfer he did for me last night. We also had a very good conversation regarding a number of topics including the identification of old estate firearms, their origins and markings. Thanks Tony, I always learn something new from you whenever we meet! Best Regards, Tom

  20. Jack, Where do you see 26 letters? The OP simply said "its starting" so I have no clue what this person is talking about. Can you or the OP shed some light?? Thanks, Tom
  21. Griz, Due to the lessons learned from my walk through life, I must agree with Vlad. The risk verses reward potential and the ROI you expect to receive (live your life verses static isolation) cannot be reasonably achieved. Remember, no one can predict the actions of another now or in the future anymore than one can change someone for the better. There is absolutely no way I would allow a care taker of any kind to live in my home with my family. There are simply too many risks that exist now and will develop in the future. IMHO, you may be better served by working on a different solution in concert with your wife. If she is a stakeholder in the process, there will be a good degree of "buy in" on her part and that will help you implement the plan with far less push back. Good luck!
  22. In this pathetic state, I believe any way to slow gun ownership will be looked at and if at all possible, used against legal gun owners - US. I agree with Alpo, if this looks like it will gain traction its time to buy the bucket list before I kick the bucket Again, it comes down to staying in NJ or leaving. Unfortunately this technology will get better with time and at some point, become a very real threat here in NJ and perhaps in other states that are watching us and crazy CA before acting.
  23. I joined the buyers club back in February. Then I spent about a month trying to get them to stop sending me solicitations for products on their other two sites "Truck Monkey" and "Work Wear Savings". Talk about bait and switch! In good faith, I went through their "alert me" process clicking off the different products and ammo I wanted when it came back in stock. A few months later, I was talking to a CS rep that was actually helpful (yea, its not a lie) and she told me they didn't even look at that list anymore. It became completely unmanageable due to their lack of access to ammo and popular products. The only way you can get on a "real" list is via backorder. Even that system is flawed because they constantly send out notes claiming we need to reconfirm or our order gets cancelled. That's their way of getting out of an order when the price goes up and they cannot make their margin Bottom line, I only buy an item if the price is VERY attractive and its in stock. I will not renew my buyers club card but will keep an eye on SG in case they run a special (like the S&B 9MM on sale recently). Hope that helps............Tom
