That would sound a lot like a straw purchase to me.

Thanks. I am trying to find a way to preserve the wood. I think linseed oil will just look bad. Im thinking maybe butcher's wax.

It says Long Rifle only right on the barrel so I should be ok. Now I am just trying to find some reasonable price .22lr to test its function.

Picked this up yesterday is was made sometime between 1946-1953. Its a Marlin Model 88, .22lr, 24" barrel, Semi, 15rd tube magazine in the buttstock. My grandpa bought it new and I just got it from him. All I have done is clean it internally and wipe off the dust. Its like new. Its a nice full sized rifle with a walnut stock.

I wonder if he lives near me.
