Tips for new gun owners or anybody else
345Sire replied to 70gto's topic in New Firearms Owners Corner
" little pamphlet thing" " covers everything they need to know" I don't want to "omit" any words, so I have to carefully say I think these 2 phrases "contradict" each other. You probably need a hand truck or dolly to carry ( transport? ) the paper version of what it would take to "cover everything". I hope MY clarity doesn't offend. -

Heaven forbid you might offer something useful, right? Nitpickers are gonna pick, don't sweat the small stuff. Oh, wait, you already posted that you are more thick-skinned than that. Kudos to ya. This old curmudgeon is happy to get help from anyone who offers. If I suspect an error is being made, I can always ask for clarification without knocking he/she who shared it. -

This will make you smile: Those parameters mean I'll be bringing an old Ruger MK 2. Thanks for the encouragement! -

Along with my shooting skills I have to work on my calendar reading, thanks. I think I'll try to make it to this. Now I have to decide which gun has the least expensive mags to replace, if a couple break. Chisels and 12ga, huh? Sounds intriguing,,,,,,,,, So, I guess there's no condom vending machine in the range men's room, then? -

So December 7th, from 5 p.m. on is the next time? I think I'd like to at least watch for a few rounds even if I didn't commit to shooting, if it is in any way a competition. If it's lessons or practice, I think I'd feel better about embarrassing myself if I don't have to compete. Give me a chisel or a hammer and I'll impress the hell outta ya, tho. -

Rosey, are people allowed to attend this 2nd Friday drill even if never having had any holster experience? Even if only to observe? None of the ranges I have been to allowed holster use. -
How the heck are ya gonna carry 30 orphan and 15 nuns in a car? Or are you talking Lilliputians?

Boy, you really ought not to hold back, it'll give you an ulcer. Yes, triggers are not good, but they can be improved with little effort. Sights? Okay, but lots of GOOD guns have bad sights. Ergonomics, well aside from being heavy (anchor, remember?) it actually feels pretty good in the hand. Lots have no rail, too bad on all of them for that. Guess that's part of the cost saving in manufacturing. Yup, disassembly is a PIA, needing to remove a danged roll pin. But it hardly ever really needs it. I don't have a problem with the mags I have for either the C9 or the carbine, so,,,,,,,, Funky controls? Ummm, ya got me there, I don't quite know what you mean. In conclusion,,,,,,,,,,,jeeze louise, maybe I oughta get rid of it, it DOES suck, dont it? (truth be told, I only bought the C9 so I could have something to experiment on modifying without messing up one of my good guns. I got it used for $85 including 2 mags, and it seemed as if it had only been thru a couple of mags worth of shots) I like my S&W and Walther stuff a lot more.

I hope you have plenty of gun lube. They didn't even give us dinner. -
I'd actually like to see us get some serious stuff, even if just to get the dweeb drivers off the roads. Maybe if it's serious enuff, they'll stay home? NAH, I kinda doubt it. Me? I'm looking forward to using these when they make them for my VW Bug. http://trucktracks.com/en/ yeah, right,,,,,,,

As one who (furtively) admits to owning a couple, they are worth having. Especially as a budget accessory. Everyone(mostly) has a firearm that's their least favorite, these can elevate the rankings of the others in a collection! For all those who lost their good firearms in a horrible boating accident, these do make good anchors.

grandfathered? Why would they need to be, they are exempt. -

Turban head? You must be a 101.5 listener! me too! Ignoring the fact that the mail isn't likely to get them there in a day, the politico's won't be held to the same standards as we peons anyhow. And no prosecutor is going to alienate his political allies, he's likely headed for the same office himself soon. But I like how your mind works,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, -
Murphy proposed new gun laws after Pittsburgh
345Sire replied to voyager9's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
You really need to give them more ideas? Don't want to leave it up to them to imagine worse ones on their own? ( I'm sure they would have, not your fault) That ones as scary as any I have heard. -

How about we just send Mr.Murphy an invoice billing him for the total we all had to lay out? If I remember right, he and his wife made several million in capital gains last year according to the papers regarding his tax filings. Yeah, I know just how much sense that makes in real life,,,,,,,,, -
NJ carry at my home statute?

If I decided to not open carry, where might I find an IWB for that? -
I like how you think. They tried to drive the gun makers out of business with lawsuits, this would be a taste of their own medicine.

Guns & Ammo's 2018 Best States for Gun Owners List
345Sire replied to HBecwithFn7's topic in General Discussion
My wife has her Mom to consider also. But, she's a terrific M-I-Law, she's really nice, and treats me with respect. I'm fond of her, so I can't second your motion. But as soon as she heads for Heaven, we are going to try to take care of her things and get moving. -
Not that think it would go anywhere, but the nuisance suit alone would be enough to aggravate them, YAY!

Guns & Ammo's 2018 Best States for Gun Owners List

I plan on giving my wife an updated list of states to research for our relocation plans based on this or similar lists. Along with weather and cost of living factors, this is one of the biggies. -
Bloo---rg and Di---io, 2 words I consider foul language. Wish they'd never gotten into politics, and wish they'd never made the money they did. Thanks for covering this point for me, you seem to be better informed about it.

I'm not in law enforcement so I can't say if it's real or not, but on some television cop shows they refer to "broken window" policy, where enforcing the small laws reduces the freqency of the larger, more serious violations. Blue Bloods (CBS with Tom Selleck ) is the first to come to mind,,,,,,,,,but there does seem to be a certain logic to it, Maybe it isn't true,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe it is, but this could be an indicator.
