NJ Handgun Carry Permit Application Experience
brucin replied to CJack's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Tomorrow I hit day 60 so I stopped into the Denville PD to check on the status of my application which was dropped off on 8/23. I was fingerprinted on on 8/25 and stopped in on 9/13 to make sure all was in order. I was told all was good at that time My references were not contacted till last week. I was told today that my application is on the chiefs desk awaiting his signature and would be brought down to Morristown by one of our officers along with other applications that to chief signed. I was told that Denville has not received any approved permits back from the judge yet and that the court is running about 30 days behind. Just providing info I was given at this time. -
NJ LAWMAKERS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO DESTROY RIGHT TO CARRY
brucin replied to M1152's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
That will give us a 14th amendment angle to overturn all this bullshit. -
Hey I resemble that remark.

bumping this because it's a lot of fun and I would like to see some members there.

Thanks that worked. Hard to believe an s at the end of one word would drop the group from a search result. Then again not so hard to believe.
-
According to Facebook there is no group titled: NJ Firearms Owners Syndicate. Is it under another name or are they just screwing with their own search results?

OK I'm an idiot. Looked at the Qualification score and it is 96%

NJ Handgun Carry Permit Application Experience

I'm still under the 60 days but will be stopping in at the PD on day 61 to enquire as to status and remind them that the statute is 60 days. Lawsuit should be interesting as the same guy who signs my paycheck also signs the PD's -
Steal my beer you'll be sizzlin' in the pan.

That's what the instructor wrote on my qualification sheet. My guess is he rounded the number.
-
I understand your disagreement however there is no state that has a qualification any where near as difficult as NJ's. Everywhere else you get a permit, or not in 26 states it is your responsibility to learn how to use your tools in a safe and professional manner should the need arise. If you make a mistake you will be held accountable. I got good not because I got a PTC but because I wanted to be good. That doesn't mean I did not have the right to protect myself just because I was average. I do encourage anyone who wants to carry to practice and practice and practice some more. I just don't think the NJ government should be setting the bar as high as it is when there is little evidence from the states that have more lenient standards that PTC holders are defending themselves and injuring innocent bystanders.

I totally agree 25 yards is a joke. FL accepted my hunters ed course, NY at the time I got it was a 3 hour handgun safety course and PA you just need a heartbeat. Qualification should be similar to the hunters ed course with maybe 5-10 shots at 7 yards.
-
Guy next to me didn't own up to it but he did fail the qualification
-
You forgot don't put rounds into your neighbors target at 25 yards. Yes happened to me. Ruined a perfect score. Instructor said it didn't matter I passed anyway but 100 is better than 94 with my sp 2022. I scored a 97 with my p 938 basically same firearm. It's not easy by any means but 10 out of 10 at 25 yards is doable.

NJ Handgun Carry Permit Application Experience
brucin replied to CJack's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
My town did not provide a CCN. Like the state police they told me to use my last name and the date I submitted my application. I checked 2 weeks later just to make sure they had the prints and they did. Today is day 43. -
That is one of the reasons Bruen overturned NY permit scheme. My Fulton Co permit is good for full unrestricted carry in any county except the 5 boroughs. The poor folks in Westchester or Nassau were only issued sportsman's or premises permits unless they were one of the "more equal animals"
