  1. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as i have been thinking about the same for my rifle and pistol... just to toss it out there i have been looking in to FIREclean for my firearms. It looks promising. Just ordered a 2 pack. I'll post back info when i can.

  5. After watching these videos I feel the urge to go play the boardwalk game with the air powered BB gun and the little red star.
  6. I feel ya medic yeti... But regardless of where it is it seems like they are becoming more and more frequent. I was researching ammo and looking over a build specifically for home defense/protection for the past few days. Something I can get to quick and operate if someone were to step through the door illegally. My wife has been irritated that I've been spending time on that.... After hearing about this she's asking me if I have my other rifles at the ready. There are some sick people out there
  7. If anyone is going please pm me. I'm not going to be able too make it but I would pay you to pick up one of those large ammo cans for me if the price was right
  8. 3 armed men committed a home invasion today in Pleasantville. No one was hurt. Info and news report here: URL:http://www.nbc40.net/story/23650911/authorities-searching-for-three-men-after-pleasantville-home-invasion
  9. If you want it to look like this when you are finished you will need a LOW PROFILE gas block (some call it a micro gas block) this set up has a 10" free float hand guard with a Low profile gas block If you want it to look like this then you will need a 7" free float rail (some list it as carbine length) and a Rail height Railed Gas block (the one in the photo is a Low profile Railed gas block. it has since been replaced with the Rail height.
  10. That would be my plan if I were in your shoes. You paid a premium for the item it should work flawless. If not they should honor the warranty and repair or replace it. Keep us posted.
  11. what was spikes answer the first time you sent it back?
  12. Ok i added you guys too. I spoke to Kharis today and it looks like since there is so much interest in this class he is going to see if he can do two classes that day at the range. Do them back to back so everyone who is interested can take the class. we will be limited to a total of 20 people. up to 10 per class. so if you are interested please post up.
  13. I just told the wife that we would be making the 1/2 hour drive when we are down there in December. How was the pricing? Did they have any SAR rails or barrels in stock?

  19. I am in the process of organizing a "Tactical Rifle/Shotgun Course" at a range here in South Jersey. I have 3 people interested in the course. I have a class cap of 8-10 people who can attend the course. I am opening up an invitation to the forum members here if any one is interested in taking this course. The instructor is Kharis Sepulveda (sepulvedainc.com). He comes highly recommended from a fellow forum member as well as some other offline resources. He is a NRA instructor for various disciplines. The course will cover a number of things from various rifles for home defense as well as various shooting drills. I have asked that a Primary to secondary transition technique be added to the training list as well (for those of us who have pistols as well). NOTE: THIS IS A PRIVATE CLASS AND DAY OF WALK ON's WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THIS CLASS. COST: $160+/- Class Length: 8 Hours +/- Class size: 10 person limit Location: South Jersey Shooting Club (tentative) - You do not need to be a member to attend this class. Here is a brief course description from Kharis's website: We are looking to have this class near or after Thanksgiving. I will know a solid date the range is available by thursday of this week. With all of that said... I have roughly 4-5 open spots that i can fill with forum members who may be interested in taking this class. If you are interested in attending this class please post here and i will put you on the list. As soon as i get the finalized dates and times i will post them. This is first come first served I will start a list so whoever is on top will have the best chance of attending this class. NOTE: THIS IS AN INTEREST THREAD. There is no guarantee at this time that the class will happen. We are waiting to see if the range is available and will find out this week. Please post your questions or interest in attending
  20. I have the costco "big horn" safe. just got it a few months ago. I have to say i Love it. while it's not a FORT KNOX or a LIBERTY safe it will get the job done. As with anything... if they want to get in it, they will. The weight and size of the costco safe were just what i needed to fit where i wanted it to go. Prior to the costco safe i had the 14 gun Stack on safe you are asking about. I had 4 AR's in there as well as a Mossberg tactical 500. Space was tight IMO. but i like to have a little space in there... i don't like the rifles touching in there. but it was what fit my needs and budget at the time. I also had 2 Homak Security cabinets that a form member bought from me that i used to hold parts and ammo. Now that i have the Costco safe, i use the Stack on to hold ammo. I built in some shelves to organize the various calibers. I'm a bit neurotic i guess when it comes to the key pads. Even though they have key back up's I change the batteries every other month. Both safes have their place and are a great "starting point" IMO. Good luck with your purchase!

  23. Nice build! Great looking rifle!
  24. I've built a few Polymer NFA lowers to complete rifles for myself as well as helped a few friends build similar rifles. I can tell you first hand that the NFA lowers are very nice. I have not had any problems refitting RRA or Spikes LPK's in to them and the fit to Forged uppers are nice and snug even after multiple removals and installs. Every once in a while i have to ream the receiver pin holes with a rat tail file to have them line up on an upper (on a new build). I have used various stocks and buffer tubes and have not had any issues with fitment or functionality. Mags: I have tried Gen 2 and 3 pmags with no issues, from time to time a TAPCO mag will hang and not drop free. I know that on my "loaner" NFA AR build i have over 1000 rounds though her and she has had no issues. A friend who I helped do a build with has over 3000 rounds on his and has only had a few FTE's but zero issues with the lower. Overall i've had my hands on about 7 NFA builds (between my own and ones i helped friends with) and none of them had any issues. NOW, with that said, I still view NFA or any Polymer lower build as an Entry level to low mid level AR. I would not use it as a Service rifle or if you plan on it being a "Hard Use" weapon.... for instance, don't use your polymer lower build to Smash open a door or window repeatedly and expect it to hold up or not have some issues down the road. But if you are looking for a "back up" or a loaner or a "FIRST BUILD AR" for yourself, friend or family member.. The NFA lower option is a pretty good one. I know you can get a Complete NFA Polymer Lower (lower, LPK, Buffer, Buffer tube and Stock installed) from one of our forum sponsors for like $150 + NICS. buy a complete upper for say $500 and you have a pretty nice rifle for around $650+/-.... when doing a budget build that's hard to turn down. anyway, that's my $.02 on my experience with the NFA Polymer lowers. Here is the loaner NFA AR build i was talking about above:
