  2. I have a 2A buddy who may be interested. I have reached out to him.
  3. No - it's a turret press. 4 dies are mounted all at the same time. Yes, it only uses 1 die at a time, but they are all staged and ready to go. It also auto indexes the turret for the next step in the process.
  4. Shipping it out to another person in another State who is not an FFL is not allowed. That is a person to person transfer and across State lines must be done via an FFL. You could have shipped it to yourself, but not someone else. I don't know OH law so won't comment on whether an in person transfer in OH was legal or not.
  5. The kit you linked will get you started and soon frustrated of you want to reload any quantity. Consider stepping up to the classic turret press. It automatically rotates the turret with each lever throw so the 4 different dies get used in sequence - 4 swings and you have a complete round rather than having to do each stage in batches.. The turret is also quick swapping so you can switch calibers much easier. Also, once you set the dies to the right height in in the turret you don't have to set them again. With the single stage press you will be changing dies often. It is not a progressive as you are still only making 1 round at a time, but it's a lot faster than a single stage. I can make about 200 pistol rounds per hour with mine once it's set up.

  8. The folks in the FIU have always been helpful and courteous when I have had to call them. They have gone above and beyond to get my permits out when they have "disappeared" twice now. The second time I had a problem, the lady I worked with personally walked my OGAM exemption form to Det. Bloom for his signature. These are good people - their management sucks, but they do the best they can under some crummy conditions.
  9. There will be others far more knowledgeable than me chime in but you would be best served providing more details if you can. What is long range for you? 300 yards? 500 yards? 1000 yards? Do you have a range available to you for your chosen distance? Do you have any idea of budget? This will go up geometrically with the distance you want to shoot. .223 can be good for a few hundred yards, .308 will reach out to 800+ before it goes subsonic, 6.5 Creedmore or .338 Lapua Magnum will go farther but cost you more too. Also with increased distance you will need to spend more on your sight.
  10. I am now very disappointed in Batman. His ear pro is not on his ears!
  11. I like .40 when I have time to reload for competition. With a 180gn bullet and a slowish powder the recoil impulse is very low. I overheard a comment at one match where I was shooting my Glock 35 where a guy said "he needs to go to Chrono" meaning the gun was moving so little he didn't think I was making the required power factor. I had already been to Chrono and passed.
  12. I had her just under 18 months. Hena is just 6 and I'm really hoping she has much better luck. She's a really fire cracker. Very quick indeed on her obedience.
  13. Thank you. She would have been 9 last Sunday.
  14. Sadly my Bria passed away. She had overcome breast cancer but it metastasized in her lungs. That was manageable but then it spread to her brain too in January. I now have her daughter from her first litter. This is Hena.
  15. Thanks Bob. I'm doing dog sports on Saturday so won't be able to make it. I have a new dog BTW.
  16. You just need to clean and lube them. New guns ship with a corrosion preventing grease which is not really a good lubricant so you need to clean that off with a gun cleaning solvent and then apply the right oil as directed in the owners' manual. For a rifle there are some that advocate a barrel break-in procedure but that isn't always necessary. Google and thee will find.
  17. In your case they are not illegal. They are only illegal to possess without lawful purpose. You appear to have a lawful purpose.
  18. I found backing up was easier than any other vehicle I have driven because I could see the far corners of the bed through the back window. Most other vehicles have the C pillar in the way.
  19. Nothing major until the end. Just regular maintenance, which I did myself. I ran it on Mobil 1 the whole time and she ran great. Towards the end she broke a couple exhaust manifold bolts so would make a ticking noise until it heated up and sealed again, and developed a leak in the A/C probably in the evaporator. I was about to fix the manifold when the A/C went and it wasn't worth fixing. I had the leather and failed to maintain it to the edge of the driver's seat got dry and cracked. Adding a toneau cover helped gas mileage by 1-2 mpg. ETA. Keep on top of the plug changes. I had the Hemi so there were 16 of them - a bit of a pain but I could do them all in about 2 hours after I figured out the combination of extensions and elbows.
  20. I had one. Traded it at 167,000 miles.
  21. I'm looking at running my IDPA Intro class a couple of times this year. I'm trying to create a bit of separation between the classes and to run on different days of the week to accommodate those that have regular commitments on a schedule. I have booked the range for August 29 which is a Saturday. I also wanted to run it on Saturday, June 7 but the range is not available that day. Is there any interest in a class on a weekday in June? Please let me know.
