    You Can Only Have One

    SHOCKING! What's the budget?
  3. I just finished watching the video. The interview/video was the day after the event. If you haven't watched it, I suggest you do. Thank you Mrs. Peel for posting it.
  4. I've been thinking about the first victim, Mr. Richard White, and his actions a good amount. No doubt he was slow to get his firearm out and on target, for whatever reason, non of us really know for sure. He was no less a Hero, in my eyes, than Mr. Jack Wilson. His actions, at a minimum, brought the perp's attention to himself. I firmly believe that Mr. Richard White's sacrifice saved others. I certainly do not want to take credit away from Mr. Wilson, he is a Hero and made an incredible shot under horrific conditions. He just witnessed two of his friends get shot in the chest with a shotgun at close range; and still made the shot, on a moving target, with other friends nearby and in immediate danger. I just wish more credit was given to Mr White and Mr Tony Wallace (the second victim) as well.
  5. Following. Agree the older mattresses lasted much longer. Current one can not be flipped since it is a "pillow top" design. We actually returned a mattress when we got this one. Wife said it was too firm, to the point she slept on the couch for a week while we did the exchange. In under a year the ruts started to develop; looks like a NJ road now with too much truck traffic. We contemplated getting one of those sleep numbers; price and concerns over noise and talk of mold/mildew turned us away. My in-laws have a knock-off version of one and they seem happy. Plan is to put tax refund money towards one. I've contemplated resigning myself to just buying a new $500 mattress from Costco every year.
  6. Can not offer recommendations; but I'll be taking a course at SIG in the Spring.
  7. There's some on gunbroker; auctions; couple with buy it now options for $2k.
  8. $3,000 to $4,000 for an original?!?!? $125 back in the day when they were new! Holy Cow!!!!!! https://gundigest.com/gun-collecting/colt-python-the-cadillac-of-revolvers So this would be an investment; if you can find one?
  9. I'll pre-counter what I anticipate to be @AVB-AMG 's response. The 22 yr old inherited the handgun and ammo from her deceased father. The 70 yr old has owned his/her firearm for nearly 50 years, back before liberals decided only the rich were allowed the right of self defense.
  10. I've tried to give you the benefit of doubt for a lot and I think this is the first time I've directly countered one of your posts. And I certainly try not to get personal over differences of opinions. But this one just pisses me off too much! You're saying that a 22 yr old female college student should be denied the right of self defense because she can not afford insurance? Or a 70 yr old on a fixed budget? If you truly believe that, then you deserve everything you have been called, and then some. I suppose you think Carole Brown deserved to be murdered too?
  11. One could only hope. Maybe if we voted people into office that cared about American Citizens. But, since the next step is illegals voting, that's even less likely to happen than now. The only hope for NJ is if the Feds step in.
  12. It was reported on NJ101.5 that the DMV was looking at waiving the fee for someone looking to get the Real ID before current DL expires. They consider it a duplicate. I have wondered the same thing re: being called for Federal Jury Duty. I may have to get a Real ID before my current DL expires; I occasionally need to visit Federal properties for work. I may get a passport card instead; I imagine that'd be less painful.
  13. One reason I went with the Nest was for the constant recording. I read too many complaints about detection failures.
  14. Another benefit of the outdoor systems (I have Nest) is that they have two-way audio. I have no problem identifying people from a distance, no need to get close as you stated with your friends ring. If somebody approaches your door and covers the camera; you can assume they have bad intentions and issue a warning through the camera (from your phone) while you take defensive actions.
  15. I think the glare would be an issue if mounted inside; unless you get the lens right up against the glass.
  16. I'd been told before that doing pruning as a preventative measure is paid for by the power companies. If they wait for a storm to knock down the lines, they get federal funding to do it; especially if a State of Emergency was declared. I've been in your situation before, so I feel your pain. Good Luck.
  17. If you've made any purchases from S&W recently, you should call your bank ASAP. Even worse, the site is still vulnerable. "SecurityWeek has reached out to Smith & Wesson for comment and will update this article if the company responds. The malicious code is still present on the organization’s website at the time of writing." Source: https://www.securityweek.com/website-gunmaker-smith-wesson-hacked-magecart-attack
  18. Article about questioning of the lawyer for NYC, Richard Dearing by Justice Alito. https://bearingarms.com/cam-e/2019/12/02/alito-nyc-attorney-second-amendment-only-exist-home/ The author of the above article concludes by saying: "Justice Alito did a superb job in demonstrating the games that gun control activists are playing with the right to keep and bear arms. Let’s hope there are four more justices on the Court who are ready to put a stop to them."
  19. Hired hands protesting in front of SCOTUS today, not prepped very well, couldn't answer basic questions. Hang on while I prepare my shocked face. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethbaumann/2019/12/02/nra-asked-anti-gunners-the-name-of-the-scotus-case-they-were-protesting-their-re-n2557367
  20. @raz-0 Thanks for both posts above. I should/may to look into that 54c law further, but I see your point. One thing for sure, the wait for the announcement of their ruling is going to be painful.
  21. Sounds like good job all around. School had an SRO in place, and seems like procedures as well. Student reported the gun to the SRO. SRO immediately did what he was there to do. The "good people" all go home safe. The question now is how did a 17yr old get procession of a handgun? I may be in the minority here, but if it belonged to a family member and was not secured, that family member needs to be held responsible.
  22. I upgraded to OLED this past summer when my trusty Plasma died. Statements below are my opinions and recollections from when I did my research. I despise Roku as a company, they will never get another penny from me. They forced down a software update, which basically bricked my player. They knew about, said I had to wait until they came out with a new update, no eta; no method to role back to a functioning version of the OS. Google it if you don't believe me; this was probably close to two years ago though. LCD/LED is basically the lower tier now. OLED is top dog. QLED is Samsung's attempt to bridge the gap between LCD/LED and OLED. If you care about dark/rich blacks and high contrast rates OLED is the way to go. Of course there are different levels of each technology as well. I have mixed results on Samsung as a company; they refused to stand behind a PC monitor that crapped out since I lost the receipt and didn't register it with them. Even though the mfg date on the monitor made it impossible to be out of warranty. They basically told me to go pound sand. LG makes the OLED panels, so if you buy another mfg, it still has an LG display in it.
  23. Have not read the transcripts (yet). I am saddened/angry by the snippets posted here. WTF would they plaintiffs talk financial nonsense?!? I still have a hard time (wanting to) believe SCOTUS would declare moot and kick the can. If that was the plan, why have oral arguments at all? They had the way out when NYC changed the law and asked SCOTUS to kick the case then.
  24. If this is ruled as moot I believe all hope is lost.
