  1. I had a great time as well. I appreciate the generous gun loans, and thanks to Drez for the instruction time!
  2. Count me in. I don't have a shotgun yet, but I'll have clays and shells. I don't need a hunting license or anything, right?
  3. Do gun deals typically go fast? Can I just stroll in on 10am Friday morning and pick up one of the $169 Maverick 88s, or would I have to be in line on Thanksgiving day to have a chance? I generally like to be drunk on Thanksgiving Day, so I'm hoping its not the latter! FWIW, I have that 10 gun Field & Stream fire safe, and I totally regret it. Assuming your long guns have pistol grips and/or optics, you aren't going to fit more than 2 guns on each side of the interior center divider (4 max). And that's assuming no magazines, and having to remove a long gun to access one in the back. Additionally, I was expecting to be able to hang a bunch of handguns on the door, but there isn't much clearance between the door and the interior of the safe.

    Vacuum input

    No, it's the "multi-floor" model.

On a related note, I bought the Dyson DC39 from Woot as an impulse buy, but I really don't need it. It's still packed in the box, and I'll sell it for what I paid, which was $219 something (including tax and shipping). Will also consider ammo (mainly 9mm, maybe 22lr or .223) or even possibly a shotgun for trade/partial trade.

    S&W M&P...

both Monmouth Arms and RTSP pin handgun magazines.
  7. I strongly suggest you get one of those guides that structure your visit (for Disney World, not the Spikes Tactical Store ) and tell you exactly where to go, what attractions/rides to visit, and in what order. It will have itineraries based on how how many days you'll be there and the ages of the people in your group. It might seem strange to structure yourself while you're on vacation, but they really do work. Otherwise, you're going to spend most of the time standing in lines and pissed off. I used The Unofficial Guide to DisneyWorld by Bob Sehlinger
  8. I checked out the place last night and it wasn't bad, although there was only one other person there shooting and I can imagine the range area being a madhouse if all the ports were full. Being able to get port time in 1/2 hour increments is nice. Also, they permit drawing from the holster, but you have to notify the RSO first.
  9. I just took the Low Light course today at GFH and was advised that if you're ever involved in a HD shoot at home, tell the police you feared for your life and responded with deadly force, but absolutely not to provide ANY details about the incident without first talking to a lawyer.
  10. heh, that's what he was saying. I'd literally have to ask the person what kind of bullets they were shooting at me. The exception, however, was if I was LEO.
  11. Thanks all. That stuff sure is expense at more than $1/round! I'll run a box or two to make sure it works and go with that.
  12. Thanks all. I do have a weaponlight, and I figure worst case scenario, I can just keep a flashlight nearby for now. I just signed up for a GFH low-light class tomorrow, so hopefully that will help.
  13. I was at a LGS yesterday, and I was told that in an otherwise clean HD shooting situation, if I'm using hollow points, I'll always loose a civil case unless the person is also shooting at me with hollow points. He likened it to a car accident situation where if you rear end someone, you'll always be to blame. He then went on to recommend Hornady critical defense because they aren't "legally" hollow point. Now I know civil liability will always be a concern in any shooting situation, but can anyone verify or disagree with this?
  14. I'm looking to get night sights for my XD9, and I'm looking at diamond speedsights. Not having had the chance to shoot in low light conditions, do you find tritium in the front to be sufficient, or do you recommend full tritium front and back? I'd rather not spend the extra money for full tritium, but since this will be my primary HD firearm, I'll gladly pay extra if it helps. Alternately, do any of you prefer a tritium front only set-up? I'm wondering if it will help me to focus on the front sight.
  15. Steve took care of my first handgun transfer for me and pinned the magazines, and I picked up a GSG522 while I was at it. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with and a great guy. Thanks Steve!
  16. I take it that there are Lakehurst PD that are members here
  17. I've been waiting 3+ months, I guess another day won't kill me
  18. I thought I got a good deal a month ago when I got it for $430, but they took the price even lower: http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm?id=50337 It's with the 16 round magazines, so you'll either have to tell them your FFL will convert to NJ legal or otherwise they'll ship without magazines.
  19. This comment from another thread discussing really disturbs me: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/62264-assaulted-civil-rights-under-fire/?p=795260 Is there a legal way for one's local PD to not be aware of one's firearms? Is local PD made aware of every transaction? Any difference for handguns, long guns, FTF transactions, or long guns bought FTF out of state?
  20. I always use a breaker bar due to one memorable day when a combination of using my feet and a lug wrench ended up snapping a bunch of wheel studs. Plus, apply the leverage with a breaker bar is practically effortless. An alternative is a gorilla telescoping breaker bar, which is a bit easier to store. http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automotive-1721-Telescoping-Wrench/dp/B000CMJ2KU/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1383518934&sr=1-1&keywords=breaker+bar+gorilla
  21. Just in case anyone else was looking, RTSP now offers it as a rental gun
  22. Sorry for a dumb question, but I thought transfers for NJ residents have to be through a NJ FFL. I guess that only applies for hand guns?
  23. Lyndhurst might be worth looking into. It has two different train stations (with plenty of parking in the morning) and multiple bus lines, all of which are a short trip to NYC. From what I've seen here, PD is relatively quick to turnaround FID/permits. I thought I saw someone here recently mention they were under 2 months for an initial FID.
  24. The guy making them seems to be quite the colorful character. See the comments: http://www.slickguns.com/product/ar-15-drop-side-charging-handle-no-gunsmithing-required-and-5-year-warranty-149
  25. Thanks all for the input, looks like semi-auto it is. I found the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Appleseed 1 inch group at 25 meters? 20 in group at 500 yards? Looks like I'm going to need some practice...
