  1. Here, I fixed this for you. Additional peeves not yet mentioned. 1) Keeping pace with the already fast flow of traffic in the left lane and being tailgated by someone who believes they are more important than everyone else on the road. (selfishness) 2) Another type of left lane Dick, the kind that does not get in line for the off-ramp like every other decent person exiting a freeway, they stay to the left and cut in line as close to the exit as they can get. (selfishness)
  2. This section where the thread was moved to; NJ & More..... well. PA is more. I think they are saying this is where the thread belongs and have at it. It's your tiny slice of PA heaven.
  3. My grandfather had the ultimate system. Baby food jars filled with odds and ends, then the jars in shoe boxes and the shoe boxes in a closet with a shelf system he set up just for the shoe boxes. I swear, if I needed a rabbit, he'd probably could have produced one. Really his trick was organization. You can use just about any cabinet or bunch of storage containers, but ya gotta be able to create a system you can stick to.
  4. Any paper product in general is kryptonite. But you can also use that kryptonite to your advantage. When my $20ish Home Depot knife starts to dull I run it over cardboard the same way I use a strop. It helps get a little more mileage out of a blade before it goes on the stone. If you cut a lot of boxes you are probably getting adhesive gum all over your blade. While it does not dull the blade it coats it and makes it less effective. Maybe that's what I'm rubbing off when I run it over cardboard, dunno for sure but it works. You could look at some of the folding utility knives they have at HD. They use standard reversible utility blades and when they are folded they look, more or less, like any other folding knife. You can also set the cut depth on the utility folders.
  5. Never heard of them so I investigated. It seems that BA was a one man operation with very long wait times up until last year when Aero Precision bought a stake in the barrel maker. Also, their claim to fame is the "Hanson profile" which is supposed to tame barrel whip. Generally speaking the reviews appear to be very positive.
  6. The 1:8 will be fine for 55gr but you will get better accuracy and stability from a 1:9 with 55gr. Some people believe that a 1:7 barrel is the magic twist rate and over stabilization is a myth (which it is) however, there is a solidly scientific reason there are different twist rates. The reason I went with 1:8 on my SPR is this. I shoot 62gr M855 as 3 MOA range fodder and 75gr OTM for sub MOA work from my Rainier 18" SS 223 Wylde barrel . My M4ish carbine has a 1:9 twist because I wont be shooting anything heavier than 62gr M855 from it. 1:9 is the ideal twist rate for 55gr and 62gr but offers little flexibility for heavier bullets. If all you will shoot is 55gr and 62gr, then I suggest the 1:9 but I would not hesitate to go with a 1:8 match barrel for, ...let's call it room to grow.
  7. IMHO, I do not consider a 5.56 chamber match grade, but I guess it depends on what kind of matches one shoots. It appears that all of WC's barrels (regardless of chambering) are "match grade". If you are going to shoot 69gr and heavier exclusively, I'd recommend the 1:7 over 1:8, but if you are going to shoot 55gr up to 79gr then I'd go for the 1:8. I put a Magpul MOE on my SPR and, to me, it looked silly. I replaced it with a very solid Ace rifle length Skeleton stock. That was kind of the plan all along. I was to swap out the MOE stock (that came with the LPK I bought for the SPR) to a stripped lower slated for a later carbine build. Basically I knew the MOE stock was not ideal for an SPR but wanted to get the ball rolling as quickly and cheaply as possible. Lastly, just guessing that you are buying some of your parts from Midway. I have bought many things from Midway but only when there was no cheaper alternative available. Great company, good customer service but cheaper prices to be found at PSA. That is, when PSA has what I want in stock.
  8. I can't help but wonder if we (the gun community) have just been had. Someone told YT to push a button and see what happens. They pushed it and boy, a lot of information was collected.
  9. So, private companies can trample rights because they dont like something? Maybe google is on to something here. Let's pretend (and I do mean PRETEND) I dont like catholics, blacks or gays. According to the logic you presented, if I own a business I may infringe upon the civil rights of others at my pleasure.
  10. What does it matter where it was posted. His videos are all lawful. WTF kind of country do we live in where people can post vids of the American flag getting burned, walked on and pissed on but a good ol country boy cant share his lawful evaluations of firearms.
  11. Interesting coincidence that the channel was shut down on the same day BO's EO was announced.
  12. That is a legit channel they started in '14. I'm hoping they will explain this on that channel.
  13. WTF?!? I do not know any of the details but it's true. It is alleged that the channel was taken down because he demonstrated "assault weapons". I cannot see this playing out well for Google, I don't care how big they are, there will be a backlash.
  14. Does the adoption process require home visits and financial information?
  15. Maybe not raping, but definitely copping a feel..
  16. Can't count the number of farms (horse, dairy and agri.) I've seen turned into McMansions, golf courses, apartments and office space. Who remembers Goodie's Hamburgers, Kresge's, the Haunted Mansion, the Peninsula House or the Sandy Hook Nike missile base. How about military drills in Deal? I can recall watching tanks and Jeeps driving down 35 in the 60's.
  17. In NJ, a gun is a weapon whether it's fully assembled, partially assembled or completely disassembled. In any of the three conditions, it is a weapon. Like it or not, that is how NJ defines a firearm. A magazine is a component of a firearm, and as per #2 falls under the category of a component that can be readily attached. If the readily attachable component is loaded, the law can interpret that as a loaded gun. While the law does not explicitly say a loaded magazine (component) which can be quickly inserted into a magwel constitutes a loaded weapon, it is implied. Look man, I don't like it anymore than you do and think it's par for the course concerning NJ's shittlly written laws, but it is the logical conclusion.
  18. I must be in the minority here but I find the saving just as much fun as the buying. I guess the reason it's fun for me is I get more time to window shop and ask questions, learn more and modify/evolve my design spec. Sure, throwing $600 at a PSA bargain build kit (everything but the stripped lower) will get you a no brainer rifle. But what I love is getting the best rifle I can build to my exact specs for the same money. I just save, wait patiently for a sale and snatch up deals as they come along.
  19. Any person of average intelligence may extrapolate from #2 that the components in aggregate (loaded or unloaded) comprise a weapon as defined by NJ. This is the reason we build AR uppers with threaded or 14.5" bbl before we build the lower. If you have a stripped lower receiver and a 14.5"bbl, that counts as a SBR based on constructive intent. If the magazine, a component that can be readily inserted into the assembly, is loaded with ammo (but not inserted into the magwel, then the courts may construe it as part of a loaded weapon. In other words, the NJ definition suggests if you have a firearm (loaded or unloaded), you have a weapon. If ANY component of that weapon (like say a magazine) is loaded, then you have a loaded weapon. The magazine does not have to be inserted into the magwel, it just has to be in proximity to the weapon which it can be inserted. If you walk around with an unloaded pistol and don't have a single round of ammo on you, that is an unloaded weapon. If you walk around with a loaded magazine but no firearm, you do not have a loaded weapon since the components are not all in the same place. Any time a firearm AND loaded magazine are in the same proximity, NJ considers that a loaded weapon.
  20. Don't sweat the facepalms. It's just the way short bussers greet noobs here. It's how they demonstrate how smart and special they are. The question is valid and begs another. If you are caught with a loaded magazine while driving you can pretty much count on being charged with possession of a loaded weapon. Even if the two are locked up in separate compartments. So how about this. If I leave a loaded magazine on my nightstand but my firearms are locked up in the safe, and there are small children in the house, does that count as leaving a "loaded weapon" within easy access of children? Really the question is this; What is considered a loaded firearm and how inaccessible should a loaded firearm (in all forms of interpretation) be from children. With all the vagary of NJ law, and how open it is to whichever way the court decides to interpret it, it's not a dumb question.
  21. For the record, the convoluted social media objective sent a very powerful message when they tried to ban M855. Just say'n.
  22. Is anyone going to R-14 tomorrow (12/30)? I was thinking about going to test out a new build and give my Marlin 39D some attention.
  23. Federal gold match (600yd zero) 77gr has 180 ft-Lbs at 1000yds and drops 302 inches (over 25 feet of drop).
