  1. RT was always a blatant propaganda machine but they became much worse about 6 years ago. I started watching RT to find news about Russia, but it turned out almost every story was about the US.
  2. The ideal device is a thread protector. All the NJ legal tacticool gadgets are generally a waste of money. If you are shooting a 50 cal I'd say a break/comp would be useful, but the low recoil of .223/5.56 is so little even a 12 year old can manage it. I'm sure I'll receive a lot of flack from the tacticool crowd. If you must attach a device, I'd recommend a Levang (or similar) linear compensator. You get the tacticool look while not pissing off your range mates.
  3. PSA is slow to deliver. Two to three weeks is typical. Reminds me of the old days when there was only mail order and UPS to deliver packages.
  4. Once the range opens and operates uneventfully for a while, they will probably revisit the gun shop. At least having a range there is a foot in the door.

    $179???

Yeah, shotguns made in Turkey. Apparently I was confused because of something I read last year about ATI smuggling Chinese components into the US.

    $179???

Edited because I'm a moron who cannot keep track of where imports come from.
  7. Slightly astonished that Huff-Po would allow this on their notoriously left leaning site.
  8. Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your service. Oohrah!
  9. Three questions. 1) Will a thread protector affect accuracy? 2) Are linear compensators NJ legal? 3) Is there an actual list of NJ compliant muzzle devices?
  10. The guy was fully aware he was carrying. In one report he says he told the cops he was carrying and offered to help. Not one of the cops on scene can recall him ever making that statement. In another televised interview he was asked directly by the reporter why he did not tell the cops he was carrying after the cops asked him outright if he had a gun. He said he didn't lie because the cops didn't ask specifically if he was carrying a gun with a permit, they only asked if he had a gun. He also said he was not aware that it was illegal for him to be carrying on school grounds, which is unbelievable for someone who was supposedly instrumental in getting the SAFE act passed.
  11. There is no single media outlet that can be depended on to report unbiased news. What I've found works best for me is to follow a story instead of a media outlet. When there is a story that is important to me, I will spend hours researching it over a period of days or sometimes weeks. It is not unusual for me to visit 25 to 50 different sources when researching big stories, accessing national, international left leaning and right leaning sites for information. The bottom line here is; If you want as much of the truth as one can possibly find about a story, you will have to work for it.
  12. Any step in the right direction, no matter how small, is better than a step in the wrong direction.
  13. My thoughts exactly. When one uses a CC to make online purchases, the transaction typically occurs over a SSL server. Meaning the information is encoded before it is transmitted to prevent snooping devices from capturing the information. The only flaw is that the information is not encoded as it is entered on the keyboard. That's where the trojan horses come into play. A trojan horse can easily capture the info and forward it elsewhere before anything is encrypted. While SSL servers do provide a layer of security, they also tend to give some folks a false sense of security. There is only one computer in my house that I use for CC transactions, my "serious" work computer. I never visit porn sites, illegal video streaming sites, download flash games or any other nonsense on this particular computer. Every time such sites are visited, one's chances of having their PC become compromised increase. Guys need to think of their PC as if were their "willy". Think twice before you make a connection. You may walk away with more than you bargained for.
  14. Well, you boys enjoy your country club. My father did basic at Ft. Dix in 1945 so it's good enough for riffraff like me.
  15. That $600 Capital Improvement fee is a deal breaker for me. No idea what the club's motive is for that but I bet it keeps many from joining. I'm very happy to drive the extra miles to Range-14. $60 a year and $4/hr is much more sensible.
  16. Yes, stay away. The more you buy, the less I can.
  17. I hope ALL of the firearms industry stops selling to Cali. It's the only way to get the silent majority of 2A supporters riled up enough to get up off their asses.
  18. Trop was highly recommended to me by several people. I've not used them but the kudos stand.
  19. The infomercial is more about developing brand recognition rather than direct sales.
  20. If doing what you want drops the value $50, and it will make you happy, do it if you want. If it will drop the value $500, well, you might want to think twice.
  21. I own a 1994 Cadillac Deville Concours 4.6L N* LD8. This car means very much to me as it was my father's car. He left it to me just before he passed away seven years ago. It was his pride and joy. I have tried to keep the car in good condition as best I can, performing some work myself and having the major repairs done by "professional" mechanics. If I told you how much I've spent on keeping this car on the road, I'd be embarrassed. Not so much for having put the money in it, but for having put my faith in mechanics who really don't know how to work on this car. This is my last ditch effort to find a reputable mechanic, currently working or retired, capable of doing the work I need done at a reasonable price. The following is a list of major work that needs to be done. There are other minor issues which need to be addressed as well but they can wait. * Major tune-up - Starts and idles rough when cold. Bucks at 45-50 mph then smooths out at 60+. Taps like an Irish river dancer. Idle's smooth when warm but sometimes stalls if the A/C is operating. * Suspension - shocks (possibly struts) rattles going over rough road, control arm bushings are starting to rot and alignment needs adjustment (pulls to the right). * Transmission - At 4 MPH (in forward or reverse) It makes a soft ratcheting sound, this only occurs the first time I put it in gear after start-up. Other than that no complaints. * Exhaust - leaking from behind the cat and mufflers need to be replaced. * Cooling - There is a very slow leak. I have to add about a half gallon every two to three months. I can smell the coolant from time to time. I will supply the parts and pay you in cash for the labor. I live in the Eatontown area. The work does not need to be done fast or all at once, it needs to be done right. I'm very handy and am willing to pitch in if you think I will not be in the way. Just to be clear. This is not a request for a quote from a shop. I'm looking for someone with a strong work ethic who is an expert with my particular car, preferably retired, who is looking to make some extra cash on the side. Someone who's primary interest is more about helping me prevent my father's keepsake from going into the crusher and being shipped off to China as scrap and not so much about buying a 72" big screen ( or two boxes of .22LR ). As I mentioned, this is my last ditch effort. My wife has had it up to here with me and this car. If I spend another dime on this car and it's not done right. She's gonna be pissed. If you though Dr. Bruce Banner turned into a monster when he gets mad, you should see my old lady. On second thought, no...... you don't want to see that. Mods: If this is the wrong place to post, my apologies. Please move to appropriate thread.
  22. As much as I love Ruger, start the kids off right and get a classically styled wood stocked rifle. Scouting is about tradition and there is noting more traditional than wood. For value and simplicity, I suggest the H&R breech loading Handi-Rifle. Breech loaders are on the BSA approved list. The Savage Rascal may also fit the bill. Inexpensive single shot bolt action. If you are going to do both rifle and shotgun, consider a Rossi with interchangeable .22LR/20ga barrels. I went to a military academy for HS and we trained with the Winchester Model 67 I have a RAR in 243 and so far I love it. I've heard good and not so good reviews on the RA Rimfire though. You can't really go wrong with the Ruger but you may be able to go more right with something else. Well, that's my two cents. Considering you can't even buy one gumball with that these days, take it for what it's worth.
  23. A neighbor brought back a canister of the powder version as a gift to me for watching his house and feeding his pets while he and his family were away on vacation. A little goes a long way.
