  1. There was a huge pissing match about mags being loaded to and from the range and some of the fear scholars who shake in their boots to step outside their front porch with a bag with a gun in it were saying its probably illegal because if the magazine is loaded but its out of the pistol you are taking to the range a cop would assume its a loaded firearm - google search it was something in the title about loaded mags

    Walther ppk/s

^phenomenal post and I learned something
  3. Nope I was just trying to come up with a witty title - My last pistol purchase (Glock 19 Gen4) was October 1 so my OGAM was up and yes it was burning a hole in my pocket LOL - I meant more in the sense that I only had one left in the most recent set I had issued, i.e. I don't have paperwork out for another couple pistol permits if I wanted to go buy something else I'd have to drop by the PD and start the process again - which I will do probably by March as I'll be getting another Glock next year with my GSSF discount -
  4. Just keep it out of the firearm - I don't want to get into the pissing match on whether you can have mags loaded or not - some do, and some don't - I only take a range back, keep the mags out of my pistols, and put ammo in a pocket of the bag - I take one bag to and from the range and that's it

    Walther ppk/s

I actually want to get one for my wife in .380 - the S is longer in the grip and holds an additional round - the PPK is the original super compact - I'm sure other people know the various other differences -
  6. Well I just couldn't resist - my 1911 is lonely in my safe as my only 45ACP while I have quite a few 9mm pistols - I loved the trigger of the P320 modular platform from Sig when I held in hand, and it also felt typical Sig, just nice. This was a 9mm I held a few months back. I knew about the modularity factor not able to interchange with the 45ACP models, but thought if anything, it would be cool to have a standard or Compact model, and buy an X-change kit from Sig so it could be converted to a Subcompact for carrying (in free states obviously) Low and behold after a couple months of searching and everyone out of stock, I found 2 distributors that had a 9+1 Compact model available in 45ACP with the Siglite night sights, with free shipping and no CC fees. Confirmed ok to do transfer with Steve @ Monmouth Arms and my pistol literally shipped from the distributor within an hour of my order! Looking forward to getting it, its my first Sig and at least now my 1911 has a caliber brother so they can rest together LOL If anyone wants the link to the other distributor I found in stock on this pistol let me know, I know the P320's are decently hard to come by as they are very popular. Now I am promising myself NO MORE HANDGUNS purchased until I get my next GSSF coupon for a Blue Label, around end of May 2017....
  7. Well Saturday should be a fun day lol at 20% off that will attract a herd
  8. Not bad - I'll stop by on Saturday to see whats left and if they aren't selling yet I might put a deposit until the license comes back in, I could go for a 20% off shotgun even if it makes it 10% off a normal LGS price
  9. Its ugly as hell - only thing it has going for it is the 18+1 or 15+1 capacity - as there aren't many 15+1 45's we can get in the PRNJ - Walther 45 or 9mm PPQ much sexier VP9 also much sexier, Sig P320, Glock 19 is even better looking IMO XD Mod2 with Grip Zone is even sexier that it says grip zone - Is this looking to compete at those pistols price points or is it going to be the entry level $400-450 MSRP similar to the new Walther PPX/Creed that has been advertised lately? Because how it looks and the features it belongs in the entry level, not in the crowded $500-600 price point for the pistols above
  10. I'm not surprised in the least that a run-around Congress is the goal - its basically what the executive branch has been doing for years
  11. Agreed - although I know if the inmate wins she would try to do something, if I was out of NJ I would worry less as I know our state would just bow at whatever she preaches - the free states will tell her to shove it -
  12. ^good points. And not money and time wasted on blocked/permanently modded mags. I may stick to building up war chest of another shotgun as I mentioned above (or buying out of state and keeping there) for the time being. If for some reason we don't end up moving, then I'll bite the bullet and buy something neutered. I'm just indecisive so I was more asking about the non threaded barrels and the pinned stocks and muzzle breaks as those are the main features you would reverse on a neutered AR. I'm with you though I specifically don't buy any handguns that need pinned mags (IE no Glock 17) because I'd rather have a few less pistols to choose from and know that anything I buy out of the box doesn't need modifications.
  13. I just thought of this too but my in laws are in OBX, NC - I went to LGS last time I was down a few weeks ago and they had no problems selling me a rifle off the shelf. I should prob just do that and keep it in NC for the time being at their house. I don't think there are any laws being broken if I go that route. I know Cabelas and PA shops only sell compliant rifles to NJ residents but it's assumed (and rightly so) that they would just bring it home the hour trip and be breaking the law anyway.
  14. Soooo if I was looking at the standard Colt 6920LE with Magpul furniture besides missing the bayo lug it would be more up front cost but easier converted to "freedom status" if needed? Alternatively I was just going to get that Beretta 1301 Tactical I mentioned in the other thread since I already own a pump and don't have to deal with as much BS with semiauto shotguns as I do with AR's here. Even a mag extension for them puts it at legal 6+1 Send me some links for rifles you mentioned man I'll take a look at them EDIT: I should mention I was looking at your standard 16" barrels - don't know enough about the ins and outs of NFA/SBR
  15. Alright so the plan is to get out of PRNJ by the time Tubby is gone. I don't want to sell any guns when I leave. So I was thinking to get started in the AR platform I could get a Sport II as I'm just in the beginner category before I try out wild builds, etc, and could pass a beginner rifle to my wife someday with some pink furniture LOL but if I move would it not be more expensive to get my barrel threaded, - and buy a normal stock for it? The compliant Rugers and Sport 2's have straight barrels as we know. Then I thought maybe buying something like a Colt Expanse or other "standard" AR which has been modded by the FFL - if I moved out of state perhaps a competent gunsmith can un-pin the muzzle and stock and besides new mags (our permanently modded 15 rounders would prob be sold here I guess since I can't just have blocked 30 rounders) and missing a bayo lug I'd have a 90% standard rifle? Or is it too much of a pain in the ass and should I just accept some level of neutering in my rifle that I purchase here if I move?
  16. Post above has a great perspective - and Post #131 most eloquently explains why you should vote NO - I can't believe on this forum we are actually going back and forth with this - replace the ballot question with "would you like children to be safe from firearms" and you'll see how voting yes circumvents legislation and gives government the ability to just make a new slush fund - When I hear commercials with these upbeat show tunes on the radio talking about how "bipartisan" and "common sense" this would be to vote Yes, I find myself wondering if its such a great thing for New Jersey why are they pushing so hard to sell it? If its so common sense why do we need commercials? If the Lt. Gov doesn't agree with it and Christie is giving her shit for not going along with it, something is fishy. Anytime that Sweeney and Christie and Prieto can tout something as working together for the common good on a commercial, makes me feel like you're saying Yes to more socialism and pet projects, etc.
  17. Yep threaded barrel is allowed just don't put an evil flash hider on it lol I actually have a Hogue takedown stock on mine that came with a defect on the receiver section and Hogue won't warranty it (10% off discount for another stock set since I bought from Amazon), I was thinking about buying the Tac-Sol combo barrel/Hogue stock although its pricey @ $300 I would have the bull barrel and the factory barrel both with the Hogue forend sections - I looked at the Ruger factory bull barrels but I've never seen one in person just the pics on their website. ataimwolswol - do you mean the fancy tactical threaded Takedown barrel for $220 on ShopRuger? If that's the going price I'd prob just get the Tac-Sol barrel - they have a few new barrels on the Ruger store that weren't there earlier this year when I got my Takedown http://shopruger.com/10_22-Takedown-Threaded-Barrel-Stainless/productinfo/90566/
  18. Would love to buy the Shield in .45 but one of my huge gripes with the Shields is they couldn't make a reversible mag release?
  19. They started out with 5% off guns and ammo - now I heard on the radio its up to 15% off - wonder whats left, besides a bunch of revolvers
  20. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER the paid commercials are your government lying to you. Christie included. Vote no.
  21. Great review - what dealers stock them if any locally or do they have to be ordered? I like the fixed MOE stock from factory as opposed to swapping it out on another rifle (which requires a buffer tube as well on the Ruger, S&W MP for example)
  22. Vote no to both ballot initiatives
  23. No I'm with you - its basically how our country was founded and the viewpoints thereafter, one third of the population is like your colleagues and supports their side but not too wild, one third are like you and me we have our views on the opposite end but we wouldn't be violent, and the other third is the fringe of both right and left who do these things -
