  1. Same for NC lol. Leave your liberal friends and family in NJ.
  2. I think what makes NC unique to many other states is that you can go to a popular mountain destination one weekend and then a popular beach destination the next. And though these destinations are popular, they are much, much less crowded than anywhere you would go in NJ. 95 and 40 intersect in NC so it's easy to get there as well. The big attraction to NC for many is the availability of large amounts of cheap property. The further you get from Raleigh-Durham or Charlotte, the cheaper it gets. If you aren't concerned with school districts, there are a lot of small towns that are still close enough to the cities. There are some trendy areas in NC that aren't as cheap as they used to be, though still like 1/4 of NJ prices. I'd stay out of Durham county. A lot of yanks have flooded Cary, but I'd steer clear of that area as well if the goal is to get away from NJ. Southerners will never understand why yanks will moan about how terrible whatever place they fled was, then try to change NC to be more like where they left. generally, the western part of the state is largely BFE. I love visiting out there, but couldn't imagine living there permanently. Hard to believe considering how far south the state is but it snows like crazy in the mountains. Again, great for a ski weekend but these small BFE towns aren't plowing or salting the roads. I personally think the best parts of the state are the towns that are west and northwest of Raleigh. These places are growing big time so don't expect it to still be cheap like 10 years from now without going even further out.
  3. Mossberg says it is due to learning about the anti-2a lobbyists. I'm hoping even more companies do the same. The hiring of anti-2a lobbyists HAS TO BE the last straw for those that are still buying during sales. There is no way to justify it anymore by consumers or gun manufacturers. Mossberg makes great budget shotguns as well. If you are 50/50 on Mossberg vs another shotgun, here is your tie breaker. http://www.mossberg.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Mossberg-Terminates-Relationship-With-Dicks-Sporting-Goods.pdf
  4. Fleming's in Edgewater has great steaks. Sides are even better.

    New model 19!

I don't mind the lock as much as others but why do they still put them on new models? Hildog's political career is over, isn't it?
  6. I'm not a legal expert so you'd have to hire Nappen for the specifics. It wouldn't surprise me if the local PD can refer specfic cases or ask for advice on cases to NJSP that aren't explicitly spelled out. still crazy to me that an expensive psych specialist isn't more valuable in this case. So an Achilles repair specialist with MD after his name is g2g? Might be something weird with the wording of whatever procedure they follow. Could even be a misinterpretation by local PD of something that isn't clearly defined. These are all things you will need a legal expert to figure out. good luck and keep us posted. I'd be interested to hear once it's done.
  7. can the psych doc refer you to a MD that he gets referrals from? I think having the psych referral back to a MD that trusts him with his explanation might be enough to get the MD to meet with you and then sign off. He might even want to hold a few random appts/meetings to show he did his due diligence. Make all your random appts with this doc when you need to from now on. Being another one of those non-MD initialed healthcare doctors like your psych, I find it odd that NJ wants a random MD over the specialist that you saw. It's not that Sgt's fault as he obviously doesn't make the rules, but I can see why he though you were g2g. You wouldn't read a detailed report from neuro about a concussion then make an athlete get the sign off from some random PCP with MD initials. Weird situation.
  8. If you end up looking for RDS, I'm a big fan of sig romeo5. The auto on/off is super tacticool. I think they are still on sale at academy as well.
  9. The mapgul gen 2 BUS are pretty good. I've put them on and needed little to no adjustment. Cheap enough as well to justify likely never using them. To each their own on BUS though. I usually sell the magpul BUS that tend to come with kits but nothing wrong with throwing them on if you want. If my red dot battery dies, I put the weapon back in the bag and shoot something else for the day. In a home defense situation, I can easily point and shoot the 15 feet or less with black rifles, though I doubt I'd pick it up for that situation anyway (shotgun guy). Again, to each their own. Now if I was going into combat or LEO, that'd be much different. I'd also have the $1000 red dot, the best body armor, etc.
  10. Wife wasn't happy when the 2nd package arrived and there are 2 more to come lol (2 different 308 brands in same order shipped separately for whatever reason). I was only going to jump on the crossfire ii since it was basically 50% off over the weekend. Im going to hold off for hopefully a vortex diamondback deal.
  11. Trying to decide on the vortex cross fire again. Doesn't have the extra 10% that it did before.
  12. Saved me from myself honestly. I was also going to get the federal 308 gold to get the free 8 inch steel target promotion too lol.
  13. Academy has disabled the 20% off code. The 10% is still auto added. Bummer I was about to buy the vortex.
  14. ? I tried the code and it didn't work. Look for the items that are on sale then use the code with the bonus 10% right now. Technically 28% total. please tell me I don't need this. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/vortex-crossfire-ii-ao-riflescope#repChildCatid=4912056
  15. Yeah they get pretty bad around here especially during calving season. If you just throw them under a tree then you are attracting more coyotes. Don't get lazy on the hole. Go at least 3-4 feet.
  16. Extra 10% when you add items to the cart right now. Then apply code. Then do the rebate. Bought a lot of ammo.
  17. The fur is usually crap unless it's winter. I've heard of guys selling the fur but I've only ever known people to bury them a few feet down.
  18. CC201820PCT works on almost everything
  19. What do they mean by should not have them? possible these were instances people had to pay $3-4K to exercise their 2a right.
  20. NC has a non resident permit. Not every state that reciprocates with NC also honors these non resident permits though so be careful.
  21. Ha now you'll know why many refer to NJ as PRNJ. one way to help understand how this all works (I forget who said this on here) is to realize that guns are illegal in NJ except with specific exceptions (I.e. Going to a range, hunting, competition, etc[?]). Growing up in and now moving back to NC, I wish I could experience the euphoria NJ gun owners must feel when they move out of state. And again when they realize they don't need a permit to do something like pave their own driveway lol. to the OP, sorry for your loss. Can't imagine to have both of those so close together. Definitely give JT a call. He and a few other shop owners on this site will be your best bets for friendly AND credible info.
  22. I remember seeing on the news that the transportation fund had inexplicably been emptied. This news story wasn't followed by any major arrests. The solution? NJ now has a gas tax, That's the day I knew my wife and I weren't long for NJ. It was the iron forged straw.
  23. http://www.effinghamdailynews.com/news/local_news/effingham-county-now-a-sanctuary-for-gun-owners/article_325483da-d0cd-53dc-a983-61abf873834d.html When I discuss anything 2a related to anyone anti-2a, I always focus the conversation on what precedents may be set. Libs were ok with Obama's gazillion executive orders? How about now that Trump can do it? Giving the middle finger to the feds while doing something illegal that liberals believe in? Well now that middle finger to the feds is being used for something liberals feel strongly against. Though symbolic in this case, I think the story could act as a call to action. And going further, is it ok to set "common sense" restrictions to the 2nd amendment? This sets the precedent that can be applied to the 1st amendment. Cool with that? Think ahead.
  24. They went quick. Can always see if the store has them and will do the 20% off. Coupon code works for guns and ammo.
