NJ LAWMAKERS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO DESTROY RIGHT TO CARRY
124gr9mm replied to M1152's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
No need to ponder anything. Just plan. When I carry I plan what I wear accordingly. People talk about 'printing' as if it's a Boogeyman. Unless you brandish or otherwise wave your pistol around you won't be in 'trouble'. If you're worried about that kind of 911 call then you're not planning properly. -

"Printing" is not a crime. -
Yeah, I was curious how the start date would work our. After 160+ days with PD and the superior court, I was pleased that the start date for me was january 3rd (date approved and put in the mail back to my PD) and I had it in hand on january 10. I think it's absurd that the state police would sit on them for weeks AFTER they're approved... Indeed. I suspect there will be MANY lawsuits and variations to legislation/process over the next 2 years, so it will be interesting to see how things play out.

NJ Handgun Carry Permit Application Experience

Thanks for sharing this. It's definitely a moving target, but they way things are presented at the link are VERY useful. I'm glad so many people flooded the system and forced the state to issue permits right away. i suspect a LOT of people would have hesitated to apply at all if this legislation had passed immediately after Bruen. -
The analogy would be if a superior court judge issued you your driver license and it came with a court order that stipulated you could only drive the vehicle you passed the road test with. The order says you can add additional vehicles any time by submitting a written request to the court. Moot point until you get pulled over by the wrong cop (in both cases)...

Glad to hear it. Mine was yesterday in Morris. Over 160 days for me. -

Not sure what the process will be going forward, but if I wanted to add additional pistols right now (I don't) then I'd do what the court asked. I'd go to GFH for quals, attach the proof to a letter with details on the pistols and send it to the superior cour asking them to amend (I'd also include a copy of the letter I got from the judge and highlight the instructions). I presume that having individual guns listed as part of a permit will go away, so HOPEFULLY it will be a moot point. -

Permit approved by Morris county court. Right around 162 days. No restrictions but it says "see accompanying order" which has to be with me when carrying. It lists the 2 pistols I had on my app and says I can amend with additional pistols by submitting in writing to the court. -

Yeah, I called twice (about a week between calls) and left messages, but they eventually got back to me. didn't provide much more than a confirmation than the application was in the pile with the court, but that was something at least. My application started with local PD at the end of July and has been with the court since around October 5, so gauge your expectations accordingly. -

Holy cow! You should DEFINITELY send a mail to Strikeforce letting them know about that. My application is just over 5 months, but a good chunk has been with the court (and my money order cashed). I can't fathom the reason for holding at the PD for so long!!! -
Yeah, i've seen those but I'm not a fan of adding something to the fire control system of a Glock. Adding a potential point of failure IMO. I have a compact pistol with a manual thumb safety that I'll likely use if I ever get a carry permit (application submitted over 5 months ago), but it's was designed/built with that feature.

I'm not a lawyer, but IMO that response was WELL done... -
I'm a fan of reloading, but if you're not already setup for it things will be pretty expensive...

You have to do what's best/most comfortable for you, so if you've landed at unloaded appendix then go with it. Given the choice between unloaded appendix and loaded 4 oclock I'd go with loaded 4 oclock...but that's me.

That's definitely not right. Mine locks up solid as well. Is there any damage to the nub that locks into the lock? I circled it on mine. Kel Tec should take care of that for you.
-
What do you mean by 'wiggle'? I have several thousand rounds through mine but I've never noticed any movement that impacts performance.

The right to keep and bear arms is just that, a right. Implicit in that is the concept that there is no test, prerequisite, or other limiter for one to exercise that right. As a responsible citizen one SHOULD get training and have the best understanding of firearms possible before carrying, but making it a requirement is wrong (IMO). There is no test required before people are allowed to spew vile, venomous speech that incites all kinds of mayhem. Ultimately there are consequences for going too far... -
I've heard the same. I'd love to shoot there one time just to say I did, but otherwise I'm content to shoot at Cherry Ridge, Sheepdog Warrior, and various other places where the "common man" can afford to roam...

My 'social media' footprint is pictures of me with family and friends and pictures from business trips. My local PD is welcome to waste their time perusing through it...
