Ultimate Range and .17 Caliber?

I was at a party over the weekend and I started talking to a guy who works at Picatinny Arsenal. He couldn't stay long, but I got as much info as I could before he left. He knew a lot about ballistics. In any case, he told me they have an indoor 300 meter range that can handle .50 caliber and more. :shock: He said that he couldn't use it since he's a civilian.

 

We also talked about .17 caliber ballistics. He said they shoot flatter than most other calibers because of their high velocity. I wish I remember which .17 caliber he said he likes the best. There are quite a few of them.

Very cool....interesting round. Not bad on the price of ammo...but the gun is another story.

Be Careful -- When the Fn 5.7 was first introduced there were quite a few postings on other forums about "kabooms" some included serious hand injuries.

Makes you wonder, looking at the Picattiny Arsenal through Google Earth the largest building is 245 meters in length, I wonder how much stuff is underground.
