cold shot 1 Posted July 13, 2009 Can anyone point me to a good site/book to learn/evaluate military type rifles from AR,AK, HK,FN,etc and how to build one with the options and accessories ? I find these fascinating and want to start with my first one. Also, are any of the multitude of Gun Digest review magazines worthwhile ?
Maksim 1,504 Posted July 13, 2009 check the newbie forum, there is a link to the world.guns.ru? site that has alot of info on them. also, there is a big book called "guns of the world" that is great, picked it up on sale at borders for like 5 to 10 bucks, that I like to keep for refrence. Guest Posted July 14, 2009 im sure some of us here could even help you.. what is the goal of your build?
oldslabsides 2 Posted July 14, 2009 I think half of us here including myself are either in the process or contemplating an AR build. We should probably do an AR build party for those who have the parts ready to go. I'll have all my stuff to build two lowers by the end of next week (minus the stock, can't decide as of yet). cold shot 1 Posted July 14, 2009 My goal is to either purchase a base ar-15 and customize or build one however I am not there yet. I need to start reading and become knowledgeable of the parts involved, manufacturers, etc.
bbk 188 Posted July 14, 2009 That's a solid idea, cold shot, exactly what I'm planning on doing. I already bought my MP15, but I'll be investing in another upper (probably a 20''), buffer/spring, complete bolt system, and stock... so, pretty much buying another rifle with the exception of a lower
cold shot 1 Posted July 14, 2009 looks like I am leaning towards the M&P as well bbk. From what I have been reading, it looks like a great choice for an AR with the options that they include ! Anyone know what gun shop has a good selection of AR's that I can touch and feel ?
