Today I heard that Cutting a Barrel is illegal except by a "licensed gunsmith".

 

I'm 99.9% positive this is false information, except maybe with regard to warranty issues or something like that, but with regard to NJ Laws, its just federal minimum length laws, right?

There was a bill proposed a year or two ago that would make it unlawful for anyone other than a "Licensed Gunsmith' to alter any part of a firearm that might change it's "Ballistic Fingerprint". Since NJSP did not then, and still does not have a "Ballistic Fingerprint Unit" the Bill died in Committee IIRC.
