Allentown PA gunshow 9/6/09

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I finally went to the gun show yesterday in Allentown and I thought I would fill everyone in on what was there...

There was a bunch of collectibles there, many shotguns and rifles...Best handgun prices (and they basically had every handgun there). Best deals I saw there were on the Handguns (i.e. sig 250 for $400 Brand new, Glocks starting at $375 Brand new). Unfortunately none of them had the exact Mossberg shotgun I wanted. I was trying to purchase a Mossberg pump 500 with the pistol grip and they would not sell it to me since I was from NJ. There surprisingly wasn't a lot of ammo there, but you could definitely find something if you was looking. Not one vendor there had .40 cal snap caps which was a disappointment. Other than that they had EVERYTHING else. Overall it was a good time and I know what to expect for the next one...

Long story short, I ended up going with one of the site vendors who offered me the best price on a Mossberg pump a few days ago (which was the same offer I was getting from the gun show in PA). This forum's vendors have the best prices in NJ. Thanks guys!

YUP! They had a whole case of about 8 of them in bi-tone for only $400 brand new (I assume they add $5 for NICS and low tax on a cash deal)!!! They were willing to work with FFL's in NJ to get it to us over here as well.

shows are great to oggle for stuff...but was this the eagle arms one?

PA laws now treat AR's as pistols I believe, so need to be sent to fll.

They are great for some stuff, ie Mosin's =)

Yeah, this was the 250 table show at the conference center. My friend only needed the upper to his AR which was the barrel assembly, so he didn't have to fill out any additional paperwork for it. Overall it was OK, but just was expecting a bit more especially for the 1.5 hour drive one way.

    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
