Remington / Bushmaster / Magpul ACR

Got a chance to spend some time with an ACR "basic" today at a shop in PA... Very impressive. It wasn't nearly as heavy as I thought it would be - or perhaps it just balances well - but it seemed lighter then a SCAR. The ambi controls are sweet and positioning of the bolt catch/release (very similar to an AR with a Magpul BAD attached) is nice indeed. The length of pull on the A frame stock is longer then what I am used to, but it was very quick to shoulder and provided a nice cheek weld. Also I discovered my concerns over the non-replaceable pistol grip were misplaced, as it was comfortable and at a good angle for me. Apparently Remington will release the Aluminum receiver used for select fire models which has a replaceable pistol grip that would accept any AR-15 grip (or so the sales guy said).

 

Overall it was an inviting and worthwhile trip, since they had one in both black and tan. But for $2400 out the door I had to pass on it...
