Chad 3 Posted December 2, 2009 Any idea of the weight? Never-the-less, the magazine is in front of the trigger. Not in NJ :|

n4p226r 105 Posted December 2, 2009 i believe this is all there is for the pistol ii. A semi-automatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following: (1) An ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip; (2) A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; (3) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned; (4) Manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and/or (5) A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm; and so it definitely has a detachable magazine (1) this cant be changed (2) put a compensator and permanently pin it just like our current AR15s and we should be fine (3) no heat shield, although not much of a barrel. im not 100% sure on what is meant by this (4) id need a scale, but i think it would pass based on what we are looking at (5) good to go here please correct me if i am wrong

Melgamatic 66 Posted December 2, 2009 Never-the-less, the magazine is in front of the trigger. Not in NJ :| Really? Just reading NJAC TItle 13 Chapter 54, and the rules for "assault weapon" pistols seems to be ii. A semi-automatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following: (1) An ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip; (2) A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; (3) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned; (4) Manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and/or (5) A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm; So, it's got the detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip; what other features does this have? I think it's legal as long as it's less than 50 ounces....or, is there another clause in the law I am missing?

The_Matrix 105 Posted December 2, 2009 I think its OK since its a 22lr and not identical to anything on the assault weapon list. I know its looks like an AR, but not identical internally since the parts do not interchange with a real AR, thus not identical. But, you will still need a FFL to do the transfer which might not happen.

jersey_emt 2 Posted December 11, 2009 Check this out: http://www.quarterbore.com/nfa/sbr-aow-pistol.html People have made AR pistols that are bolt-action (charging handle operated) or have a non-removable magazine to get around the ban.
coldsolderjoint 84 Posted December 11, 2009 interesting! So if you did a fixed mag mod, could you then have a regular capacity mag in it and also get away with the rest of the evil features? (assuming you did the conversion in another state of course)
