Mounting a Red Dot scope on an AR

I have a Colt Match Target with removable carrying handle. I bought a Tasco red dot scope that I'd like to throw on it. The scope came with low mount rings. They are perfect for my 10/22, but are no good for the AR. I can't see anything because the front site is completely blocking my view. Clearly I need something to raise the scope. I don't want to get the bracket that mounts to a carrying handle. I think that would make it too high for me to be comfortable. What do people use? Thanks.

You could replace your gas block with a low-pro with rails. Put some flip up sights on and you're ready to mount whatever optics without having the front sight blocking your view.

LaRue (and probably others) make a 5/8" riser. Not cheap, but like all LaRue products - quality. Here's a link...

I have one of these to mount a scope on an AR upper. Used lo-mount rings on the riser. Clears the BUIS and makes the scope easily removable and good return to 0.

I talked to the guys at Brownells. I am getting a 3/4" riser from them. Thanks for the help guys.
