Nice digging but I think I will stick to the off the shelf store bought brand. I dont want to risk screwing up the finish on a handgun that cost me a couple thousand dollars to save a couple pennies. Im sure the ingredients to the recipe are good, I just dont trust the chef. That would be me! :oops:

I have been using eds red for years. The stuff rocks and puts most commercial stuff to shame!

been using it for years with no problems - i leave the acetone out of the formula - CHEAP ! -

how about efficiant , great performing , + economical ?

It has been reported that methyethylketone/MEK (CAS#78-93-3) can be satisfactorily substituted for the acetone if desired.

 

Who needs their liver, kidneys and lungs anyway, the guns must be CLEAN!!!

Ed's Red is a great gun cleaner. Also not listed in the website is a great gun oil I've been using for a short while now. It is nice and thick, does not run and drip out of the gun, and lubes great. Best of all it's $9 for half a gallon of it. Just mix 6 parts STP oil treatment with 4 parts Transmission Fluid
