JimmyAGR 54 Posted April 10, 2010 Hello All, I am looking for recommendations for a spotting scope, priced $200 or under. I am hoping at that price point I can see 223 holes at 300 yards. Anyone have any that they love or hate? Thanks for all the help. Jimmy
njpilot 671 Posted April 10, 2010 Bought this on sale for $198 a few weeks ago. Used it once so far at Ft. Dix, no problem seeing .308 holes at 200yds. Haven't tried 300yds yet but reviews are good. Some of the other members here thought it looked good for ther money. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?p ... ber=466045

I had never heard of them before. I will definately search around for that one. Jimmy
njpilot 671 Posted April 10, 2010 Just watch out Jimmy. I have read that the green one is newer than the blue one here and better quality.
IveGotThatWiperFluid 0 Posted April 28, 2010 I might be a little late to the topic here, but I ordered this one: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=765856 from Midway over the winter and just got out to use it this spring. It's on sale until end of May for $100, too. Construction is pretty good, lens covers for both ends, adjusts magnification and focus easily enough, tripod is decent, and the hard case is pretty nice. Eye relief gets tight quickly if that's an issue for you. It fit my goal of price vs performance when I was looking for something that was useful enough at 200/300 and cheap enough for a relatively new shooter. the m700 project 0 Posted April 30, 2010 With spotting scopes you definitely get what you pay for. In NJ anything will do as long as it holds together. but once you get out to 500 and beyond and you need to follow trace you will need to spend a bit more to be even remotely happy. I started out with a Leupold green ring. It was great in my back yard and at CJRPC but when i tried following trace at 400 I saw nothing and there was a definite lack of focus. So since I ended up camping on that trip instead of using a hotel room i decided to splurge and bought this, It is ridiculously clear
