M1 Garand sling

I just got a sling for my Garand. Does antone have an illustration or link to show the right way to install it? I know there is a certin way to do it so I can use the sling loop to steady the rifle when shooting off hand.

This shows how to use the GI web sling for prone/sitting. You don't really need the extra loop in there to begin with, its shown as 'correctly' installed.

 

For off hand, I think you are referring to hasty sling, which can help steady the rifle a bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gAso3l7UCU.
