Steel Targets

Recommended Posts

I don't see a hole in either plate...how do you hang them? Or is the mount on the backside?

They have a holder on the back, hooks in to a top plate that sits on a 2x4, which slides into a base. They are from Nevco. Works like a champ. Hit with both 5.56 and .308 and stand didn't budge.

What are they rated to?

I have a few AR500 plates and 7.2x39 barely knicks them at 100yds, but .308 not doing anything? Damn!

Don't know what they are rated to, but I also shot M855 and no damage. They were not that expensive, less then $100 for the target, base and top cap. Even if you shoot out the plate the base and top cap are still good. I think the 10" plate is $40. It is nice shooting at them, instant gratification :).

Yeah, shooting steel is awesome...way more fun that paper.

That's cool though, I guess they gotta be 500. I have a silhouette plate and a circle plate (both cost under 100 as well but are still not cheap) and I'm hoping to get a popper or two to work on my pistol skills with. My gf loves shooting the silhouette plate with one of my .22 lever actions.

Oh yeah sorry they are AR500 1/4" thick. The target itself is only $40. The other cost is a one time cost for the base and top cap. They also have a 18x24 inch silhouette that I would love to get, little pricier at $165, but is 3/8".

Yeah, I was close to getting that bigger silhouette but got the smaller 12x20 instead so I could get two plates instead of one.

Do you have a home range you use them at? I can only use them at one range (outdoor) that I am a member at, no indoor ranges allow steel (or that I know of).

Yes I belong to CJR&P. Only at the outdoor ranges also, but can use then at the rifle and in the pits. I bought the 2 plate set-ups and 2 other target holders for practicing pistol type drills in the pits.

1/4" , awesome stuff. Imagine hiding from someone with a .308 out to get you behind anything just 1/4" thick. Would not do it unless I was 100% sure it was AR500 steel , lol.

If someone was shooting at me I would hide behind whatever was available, including a blade of grass :icon_e_biggrin:
