laws pertaining to bullet proof vests?

i was reading in a another thread were there is group buy going on for bullet proof vests, sounds like a good idea for some protection at the range incase of an accident. i was mentioning this to a friend and he said bullet proof vest are illegal, is this true? if not were they ever illegal?

I think it says EXCEPTIONS are when performing security or police work.. not verbatim obviously..

 

I forget.. I own a level 2 (but I do guard work)..

 

also, yes no crime when wearing or they can tack-on..

 

certain vendors won't ship to NJ without ID.. like Galls I think is one..

As someone that is in the process of developing and producing body armor the only information I have on laws in NJ pertaining to body armor is. It is illegal to wear body armor while committing a crime example would be going into a bank to rob it with armor on. Other then that every classification and type is allowed to be worn whenever where ever you want.

Don't sweat it, once these guys get a load of how hot and heavy body armor is under clothing, most of them will suddenly not feel so much of a need for "protection at the range"

 

6 months of the year it's cold in NJ. Just saying. Warm would be nice on a beautiful clear and sunny February morning at Cherry Ridge, trudging through a foot of snow to change your target with a 35 mph wind whipping your nose snots into instant icicles.
