Carry laws on one'wsown property

Recommended Posts

You can carry in any manner you wish on your own property, you can't be charged for unlawful possession of a gun unless you are a prohibited person. Of course you have to follow local ordinances around discharge of firearms.

Also, bear in mind this does not give you immunity from LE harassment. NJ is one of the most gun unfriendly states there is.. as you know. If someone calls the police that they feel threatened by you, or even makes up something saying that you pointed your weapon in their direction, that is a aggravated assault charge waiting to happen. Expect that that local govt will expend LE and Judicial resources to try to make something stick even if they have a very thin case; thereby, ruining your year and bank account trying to prove that you are innocent.

Of course this all depends on where in NJ you live, along with the local govt and LE climate.
