I just spoke to Connie at the Firearms Division at Woodbridge PD. I gave her my name and immediately she said, "Yeah. (spelling my name). I've got it right here. They just handed me like 50 of these all at once and you're one of them."

 

I said, "Great"

 

"But, they have to be entered into our system and be typed up. Can you call me on Monday and you should be able to pick it up. But, call before you come...just in case. When did you put it in?"

 

"November 23rd"

 

"Oh...ok. I've put yours on the top of the stack so you should definitely be able to get it monday. Just call first"

It took 29 days the first time and 9 1/2 weeks the second time in Woodbridge.

It never stops ticking unless they say come get them when you call or they call, I got the whole "the permits are on the chiefs desk" for 2 months near the end of my waiting for mine.

I followed up with Connie at the PD today. My NJFPID and my one P2P are done and ready to be picked up. She apologized for the delay. Her explanation is that the department had some retirements and that the plan is that one of the retired detectives is being hired on just to handle firearm permittingS. It was a bit piecemeal while they got that sorted out.

 

We talked a little about the permits. I asked if there was a limit on how many I could get. She said, No. That the NJSP doesn't restrict how many permits you get, but that they're only good for 180 days with renewal (through her that will take 2 minutes of my time). And if I'm adhering to OGAM, that it doesn't make sense to get more than 6. She said be careful buying before 30 days because NICS may not catch it and it will come up when NJSP files the purchase. And you could get in trouble. Usually they let a one time mistake go with a warning but why tempt fate?

 

Also, I can apply and pick up permits M-F from 10a-4p. The Wednesday only thing was just for the NJFPID.

 

I'm excited to go shopping in the coming weeks.

 

I want to buy for my first pistol:

 

1- Preferably used Ruger Mk ii or iii. 5 inch or longer bull barrel or slab side in SS finish. I'm not going ot go over $500.00 on my first though. Anyone selling? lol
