I guess an SKS balances better than an AK

I was surprised the Russians use SKS for ceremonial duties. I figured the AK would have been the choice.

 

 

 

Edit: Maybe because the AK wasn't invented yet in WWII and this is a memorial for it?

Nah, lots countries use SKS's for honor guards & such. Look at Survivors SKS boards, the picture section, there's an ongoing thread for that. Latest pix on there are Cuban navy women with Sir mix-a-lot attributes

I think we use the M14 for honor guards and things like that. I remember when I was in JROTC, we had the old 1903 style drill rifles, we went to a competition in Linden (?) NJ and this Marine JROTC unit had M14s. I was jelly as hell, the M14 is my favorite rifle of all time haha.

 

I mean, the SKS may balance better, but it's also better looking. Read my signature haha.
