First Pickup of the Year - M&P 9mm Range Kit

Hey all - I just picked up a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm range kit up here in Commonwealth so that I have something that I'll be able to shoot competition with in NJ while waiting on those FIDs and Permits. I'm about to pack up and head to the club to welcome her to the family.

 

Range report to follow with pics - hopefully.

 

In the meantime, this is a MA legal version - no mag disconnect, safe action, and.... 10+lb trigger pull of doom. Lots of people have pointed me to the APEX kit. Looking for opinions on which kit to get (carry or competition) and/or forward sear kit.

My opinion......

 

Full DCAEK kit..... except dont change the trigger return spring ( it actually increases trigger pull in the kit ) . You should end up with a nice smooth 5lb trigger.

This was done 3yrs ago...... I tried to get him for the Compact last year.............. no response. I just bought the APEX kit instead, and with no regrets....... they are so close, I wouldnt even bother with a gunsmith trigger for the M&P..

 

Its a shame about how hard it is to contact Burwell. I understand its not his fulltime job, but at least return emails and calls, and tell people what your wait time might be. Being unreachable is just poor business.....

Alright! - I just got the shipping notice for my APEX DCAEK + RAM (and a patch for good measure). What do you all think I should grab for tools for the dis-assembly?

Hammer, roll pin punch, small needle nose pliers, drift punch or sight pusher to remove the rear sight for usb, and a vise.

I did too... APEX Trigger Kit and Ram showed up last night - wicked fast. I installed (rather JV style) but it worked. I can definitely feel a reduced trigger pull but I'm not hearing and seeing the dramatic trigger reset that I was expecting from the ram.
